Free Music Notes for No Way OutFree Music Review: In the words of Diddy, "Uh-uh" Hit: 2 StarsOK, OK, everyone loves to hate on Puff and I am no exception. His ratio of talentlessness to money made is absolutely staggering-- he's like a hideous, acne-scarred pimp who sits at the bar surrounded by gorgeous women, prompting you to scratch your head in awe and confusion. How the hell does he do it?
But let's get down to the nitty gritty. For one thing, Diddy can't rap to save his life. It's bad enough he doesn't pen his own lyrics ("Don't worry if I write rhymes, I write checks" being his classic defense), but his flow is an abomination. My twelve-year-old nephew spits better verses than this clown-- his monotone tongue stumbles over rhymes like he's gunning for George W's "Worst Public Speaker" award.
And the lyrics he has ghostwritten for vast sums of money are like third rate Fabolous scribbles. I mean, c'mon, "I'm the mack-aroni with the cheese"? How did that line ever make it to tape?
Finally, his beat-making gives hip hop producers everywhere a bad name. By jacking old classics in their entirety and rhyming awkwardly over them, Puffy reinforces the notion that sampling is the art of "stealing" good music from the old days and repackaging it for ignorant young'ins who don't know any better. Talented samplers like DJ Shadow, Premiere, RJD2, The Bomb Squad, The dust Brothers et al use elements from old records to create entirely new compositions. Diddy takes a great Police song and turns it into a maudlin lament for a fallen rap legend that is such an obvious bid to cash in it's insulting. For shame!
All that said, this album has one redeeming quality, which is why I gave it TWO stars, and that is the presence of Biggie Himself on a handful of tracks. Proof that Biggie was only getting better with age, these tracks demonstrate why he is still considering the greatest MC of all time by many hip hop fans. Check BIG's verses on "Victory" and "Young G's" -- these two tracks along are worth the price of admission...
Free Music Review: Good Solo Debut Hit: 4 StarsFor a person who hates Puff like me, I have to fight myself to say this is actually a good CD. What makes it good for the most part is the numerous guests that are on it. Only 4 of the 15 songs do not have a guest on them, so you don't get too much of Puffy (which is good). The production also is top notch and very good through the whole CD. There is really only 1 song I skip, 1 classic, 4 average songs and the other 9 are good. Sorry to say but this but it is a very good CD to have in your collection.

Free Music Review: very confusing................ Hit: 1 Starshow in the hell did puff doofy make his money?!?!?!?did he become the smartest pimp and sell mediocre rappers to the masses 10 at a time!?!?!?!?!?as for the umbrella holder............HAVE YOU NO SHAME???????????????????????????????
Free Music Review: This is still a hot album! B.I.G would love it too! Hit: 4 StarsP. Diddy made a very over the top debut with No Way Out! Although it came out several months after the Notorious B.I.G.'s last album, this had an endless string of party songs and emotional numbers. It made hitmakers out of producers Puffy, Stevie J, my boy Ron Lawrence, Deric Angelettie, Nashiem Myrick, Carlos Broady, and others of his Hit Men group. But this album is heavy on the funk value with the songs, such as Victory, the heavy funk of Benjamins, Been Around the World, I'll be Missing You, and many others. And this album will have you shaking your hips to its four beat parts--there's a sexiness to it too! It inspired a lot of Puffy copycat songs afterwards, everyone copying his hooks, beats and so forth for his album! Puffy's rhymes are a little average on this one, but they got better on the later albums. The guest rappers add more flair to the songs. But No Way Out was one of the '90s best albums--kind of mixes '80s excess with the '90s emphasis on shiny suits, Bentleys and other expensive cars in rappers' videos. It worked for that time in 1997.
Free Music Review: BC (Before Commercial) Hit: 4 StarsThis is a classic album, from when Puffy wasn't annoying pop music when he was hardcore hip hop. I would give it a five, but one track (can't nobody hold me down) made it 4.5 stars. Though it has classic songs like It's All About the Benjamins and I'll Be Missing You which make this album classic.
