Free Music Notes for Different Class

Free Music Review: A Classic
Hit: 5 Stars

I admit it; there was a period of time in my life when I was a big fan of Britpop, but even though my taste in music has moved on, this is one of the few albums of that genre that I can still listen to today without cringeing. "Different Class" was released about fifteen years into "Pulp"'s existence, and it is unlike any album they had released before or have released since. I don't know what spirits were conjured up in the studio to create such a great album as "Different Class", but unfortunately,"Pulp" out did themselves. It's fair to say that this album is a masterpiece, and everything else "Pulp" has done does not measure up to it. With that said, "Different Class" is probably one of my all time favorite albums in any genre.

Free Music Review: Quite possibly pop perfection
Hit: 5 Stars

While personally I like His N' Hers better, people new to Pulp should start with this album. Their are few lyricists in Rock with Jarvis Cocker's intelligence and social conscience, and combined breathy sexy voice and cooler-than-you-could-ever-be style, he stands alone as one of the most enigmatic stars in all of music, even if America doesn't know who he is. America's loss. This is about the catchiest album I've ever heard. I defy anyone not sing and dance along with the anthemic opener Mis-Shapes. There are few better songs for a night on the town than Common People, and Disco 2000 is simply one of my 2 or 3 favorite songs ever. A couple songs on this album are a bit of a letdown amongst the brilliance that surrounds them, but still an essential album.

Free Music Review: Original, diverse and hugely addictive
Hit: 5 Stars

I first heard of Pulp from single a ditty they had on the "Mission Impossible" soundtrack which was called "I Spy". It took me a while to even listen to "I Spy" in its entirety--I always used to skip it because of the slow start and listen to the catchy MI music. But little did I know that that was classic Pulp. Any way, once I listened to the song past the first 60 seconds (exact), and it became my favorite tune on the CD.

Well, I got interested and bought "A Different Class". Again, it took me a while to appreciate it. But now it is my favorite (and I mean it), absolute favorite CD. There is no duplication, every song has its own character and the whole album screams with depth and emotion. A GREAT buy.

Free Music Review: To know Different Class is to love it!
Hit: 5 Stars

A brit pop classic right out of the box! The immensely popular "Different Class" album put Pulp on the brit pop map. Hugely popular in Britten but scarely heard of in the states (thankfully).
This record you can listen to from front to back with out skipping any of the tracks, each song is wonderful in it's own right, each like little stories. By far the most popular single on the album is "Common People," the comic book that coincided with the single is pretty clever as well.

Although one of the best brit pop albums it's is not my favorite Pulp release. Don't get me wrong, "Different Class" is one of my all time favorite albums. Its just not of the "His and Her" caliber.
However, it's a great introduction to Pulp (besides the "INTRO" album).

Free Music Review: a class above the rest
Hit: 5 Stars

perhaps the best way to describe pulp is this: utterly british. "different class" is a concept album of sorts; many songs revolve around social class differences that abound in the UK. nevertheless, this is an album that can be appreciated by anyone. jarvis cocker's sarcastic lyrics and unique speech patterns are amusing enough on their own, but pulp really knows how to make a catchy tune. this album is worth owning just because of "common people" and the part where jarvis whispers "are you shoor?!?" of course, cocker's dirty-old-man lyrics are in full effect on tracks like "pencil skirt" and "underwear." best tracks are: common people, disco 2000, mis-shapes, sorted for e's and wizz.
