Free Music Notes for Different ClassFree Music Review: One of the best albums of all time Hit: 5 Stars
Ten years later, "Different Class" remains one of the best albums of all time. I have heard the songs hundreds of times and never get tired. There are six standout tracks: Common People, Disco 2000, Something Changed, Feeling Called Love, Underwear & Monday Morning.
I recently requested "Common People" at a club...and it remains an anthem of angst, brit pop, glam rock and a brillant screw-the-world perspective.
Alas, Pulp's follow-up albums were not able to come close to "Different Class". So disappointing. But it's not called a Magnum Opus for nothing. I hope frontman Jarvis Cocker's new solo album will provide some solace.
Free Music Review: Pulp made me a fan of Brit-Pop Hit: 5 Stars
I have always listened to Pulp, but never realized who they were until my brother got a job in a record store and bought His'N'Hers and Different Class home with him. But it was much later that I discovered Different Class on his CD rack and was curious enough to listen to it. It blew me away. The first song Mis-Shape got me hooked. This song would pop in my head as I walked downed the street, giving me confidence. The other song, Disco 2000 - which I heard many times, made me finally realized who they were. That day, I must have listen to that album non-stop three or four times. Few years have past now and I still find this album to have energy.
Free Music Review: First Class Hit: 5 Stars
Pulp is one of the most underappreciated bands around. Different Class is a great example of how you can make intelligent music with catchy beats. Jarvis Cocker has a sharp pen and no one is beneath his satirical insights. He also has a silky smooth voice that masks the biting lyrics. Great songs include "Underwear", "Live Bed Show", "Common People" & "Bar Italia". "Disco 2000" is the standout track with its poignant lyrics and shimmering sound it is a song that deserved to be a major hit in this country. A true highlight and top-notch album from the 90's.
Free Music Review: It doesn't get better that Different Class Hit: 5 Stars
Okay, if I could have only three CDs for the rest of my life, this Pulp album would make the list without hesitation. The music is so intelligent, so complete in its mastery of melody and lyrics, that I am still amazed even after owning it for over a year. A true chef d'oeuvre. Not to mention Jarvis' lyrics are not only smart, but amusing as well. He is a gem. Pulp is amazing. They continue to mature. Check out their previous album "His and Hers" and their latest album "This is Hardcore." Neither will disappoint and the intelligence and quirkiness shine through to reveal pure magic.
Free Music Review: YES! Hit: 5 Stars
Finally an album that I don't get tired of! Since Creedence Clearwater Revival released their "Cosmo's Factory" back in 1971 this is one of the two CDs I've found that contains nothing but hit-singles (Roxettes "Joyride" is, by the way, is the other). "Different Class" a one-hour thrilling listening experience. Best song, I think, is "I spy" with some of the best lyrics Jarvis has ever delivered and a melody that makes you wanna jump. Jump, and maybe... SPY! The album is excellent in every way and should absolutely be voted best CD of the nineties...
