Free Music Notes for Different ClassFree Music Review: I can't believe what this album has done to me! Hit: 5 Stars
I am completely addicted. It is so incredibly rare that I am blown over by a band this much. (Geez, has it EVER happened THIS much?) It hit all the right buttons in me. Every week I find another song that I just can't stop listening to. And I've had the CD for a year. WHY isn't Pulp HUGE in the US?? Could someone tell me? They are amazzzzzing. I am 27 and this music makes me feel like I'm 17 all over again. All these feelings just seem totally fresh and new. Go and buy this album. Or if you have it already, buy it for everyone you know.
Free Music Review: Better than Hardcore Hit: 5 Stars
I bought This Is Hardcore when it first came out having never heard any of Pulp's other albums. It definately had a cool atmosphere, but I like Different Class so much better. Common People is the kind of single that, wherever you are, can make you completely oblivious to everything else around you. I loved this album. Even though I don't really like Something Changed and I Spy kind of freaks me out, I had to give this one 5 stars. One more thing. Jarvis's voice on Pencil Skirt crooning It's turning me on . . . OH BABY
Free Music Review: ice of fashion Hit: 5 Stars
This is the best of Britpop and a must for any fan of the genre. Common People, Disco 2000 & Sorted For E's & Wizz are the best songs on the album. Jarvis Cocker's vocals range between deadpan talking and gorgeous singing but always excellent. The lyrics are all commentary on life in England be it a sordid district of London or the backstreets a Yorkshire town. Any fans of Parklife era Blur, Suede, & Menswear should pick this one up. This cd along with This Is Hardcore are the two most essential Pulp discs to date.
Free Music Review: smart music Hit: 5 Stars
"Different Class" is a conversation set to music. (Too bad, though, that I have yet to be graced with Mr Cocker's presence. =P) It helps to like (or do I dare say "adore"?) quirky individuals like Jarvis Cocker... or else this CD is not for you. The lyrics are intelligent, but sometimes not intelligible (Cocker's Brit accent to my California ears blurred some of the lyrics, and I had to refer to my handy little CD pull-out). The melodies are groovin', and the vocals are very aurally pleasing... =)
Free Music Review: Different for ever Hit: 5 Stars
I've so listened to this record when I bought it that I believed that I'll hate it soon. But it's impossible to resist to this fatal attraction. Pulp create a new style of pop music with so much different arrangements. I'll love it for ever. When I bought this record I had a mini trip in London and the songs were walking with me through my journey. I had a very different view of this country. Thank you Pulp. For you, I'll break my promesse to do not go to a concert. Next time you'll come in Belgium, I'll be there.
