Free Music Review: I dare say that this CD is in my all time Top 10!

I first heard about PRR through the NEARfest website- they have a real knack for picking real gems! The artists also put up full MP3s so you can get a true sample of what the band is all about. (It can be tricky to evaluate an entire prog album from 30 second clips.)
The 2007 NEARfest line-up included PRR, and the 2 free songs were 'Nimos & Tambos' and 'The Intention Craft.' The latter song really jumped out at me, with Chloe Alper's vocals being the 'secret weapon' of the song. Before long, I was listening to these 2 songs so much that it was time to buy the full CD. What a reward!
I finally ended up buying it in March of 2007, and I CANNOT stop listening to it! (16 months!) Every time I hear it, there is something new that reveals itself. To be honest, it took a good 10 listens through for it to totally 'click' for me. In my book, that is a good sign- it isn't just ear candy, and although I cannot see into the future, I am betting that I will be listening to this for many years to come.
I should also point out that I generally lean towards virtuoso type material, the kind of music that you can listen to each musician individually as a part of the greater whole. THE DARK THIRD is actually quite the opposite: the sum of their talents team up and overwhelm my senses... I just can't say enough GREAT things about this CD.
I just got a copy of 'LIVE AT NEARFEST 2007' in the mail yesterday- it put a huge smile on my face. I'm obviously looking forward to their future output. If it is even half as good as THE DARK THIRD, it'll be money well spent.
