Free Music Review: Take it like a man
Hit: 5 Stars

Easily the best album I've heard this year. You'll have to excuse me as the album is two years old, and I only discovered it now, but regardless, I'll express my unfiltered enthusiasm two years late and maybe a dollar short. This album isn't metal, and it's not really rock. It's not country or easy listening. It's not polka, jazz or pop. Puscifer has defined its own genre, and while I consider myself somewhat liberal with description and pros, I find myself at a loss when trying to define what it is I felt the first time the disc spun its way through the 10 tracks that make up "V is for Vagina". All I know is I liked it - a lot. It's like a slow trip while riding a cool buzz. "Momma Sed" is the track that defines the album, but there isn't a single bad track. I don't care what kind of music defines you, there is something in here for everyone. Disregard the lame band-name (Puscifer) and the equally immature album title, and enjoy the content. You will not be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Assumptions are the mother of all screw-ups
Hit: 5 Stars

Assume nothing.
Withdraw expectations.

...and you'll enjoy this album. This is not anything like Tool. Not similar to Perfect Circle. Open your mind and let the beat keep you going.

It's not meant to transform your emotional or inspirational attachment to melodic rhythms and lyrics like Tool, but it is a great easy listening album with a beat and electronic hint that can be the background music for every day activities without trying to discover anything more other than the beat, rhythm, and sounds of music.

It's great solid musical album. Imagine the perspective of one of the most talented musicians ever known (imo, maynard is very talented) wanting to explore the possiblities enveloped in electronic music that drives sound into you and you can't help but nod your head and tap your foot/leg to the beat and let the album keep rollin'

Free Music Review: ...Oh, Maynard you so crazy
Hit: 5 Stars

What can I say, this was an album crafted for the Maynard by the Maynard, so what can you expect. Truth is the tracks flow roughly into each other, yes the beats are simple and repetative, but thats whats unique about it, is that its almost one track. Like listening to one of Maynard's thought blurbs.
Doza, the second track on this is amazing. I've had the cd for not even twelve hours and I've heard it thirty times. The only problem I had with the album as a whole is the filter Maynard has his voice cloaked in. Its the one he's used in 10,000 Days (the song) and I came to miss his very melodic voice with the high notes and such that he song in A Perfect Circle.
Worth the buy whether you're a fan of his or not, if you like falling into the music you listen to, than this is it.

Free Music Review: There is nothing worse than predictability. NOT for the uptight Tool fan.
Hit: 5 Stars

The official Puscifer website says to `check your own inflated expectations at the door' and that you should. Maynard has adopted the vocal style from APC "Lets Have a War" and he's running with it. His vocals are muffled and distorted, with only `Rev 22:20' sounding like a normal Maynard track. This is not for everyone. Those looking for something new and OUT THERE, definitely check this out. Gotta love the beats here...

This is definitely a chill out album, reflecting zero Tool and APC. We all know MJK is worshipped by a number of people, so when he's not moving mountains vocally he's put under the microscope. It is a vehicle however, where he gets 100% creative control. There is nothing worse than predictability.

Free Music Review: Wow... different than what I expected but brilliant
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm not going to get all detailed here, but I'm just gonna say this.

Maynard has learned not to take himself so seriously. When will some of you all do the same? The sense of humor with this whole project is just plain brilliant.

Did some of you actually think this was going to be some deep journey into spirituality and/or complex rock meditation?

He's got a band for that. In fact, he's got two.

This is an entirely different type of outlet for him. And if you don't like it, it's because of your own bloated expectations.

This is good music, for what it is! Reminds me a lot of something Mike Patton would do.
