Free Music Review: Not what i hoped for but still very enjoyable!

After hearing the movie soundtrack version of Puscifer I was left moist and wanting for a full album. I was a bit let down at first, because this album does not have the full on, in your face song stylings that was heard in the movies. However the more I listen to it the more I like it. It's background music. It has tons of atmosphere and pure emotion. I'm glad the album versions of the familiar tracks are now different because now they better fit the mood of the rest of the album, and I hate to pay twice for the same old thing. As someone else said this could easily be a Maynard album to F**K too! The new Rev 22.20 absolutely screams slow sultry sex.Free Music Review: Sounds of the New Century

I won't pretend to be a seasoned music critic. I know what I like, and this is it. I've turned one of my choosiest music friends onto this album as well.
The album creates a fantastic atmosphere. There is a nice diversity in the songs while keeping with the feel of the disc. The lyrical content is thought-provoking. There are a brace of hair raising moments. The album art does it no justice.
The sound is reminiscent of a "mature" Skinny Puppy; a "masculine" Nine Inch Nails; or a heroin-free, electronic Alice in Chains.
Highly recommended.

As many who have picked up a copy of MJK's side project, Puscifer, I am also a fan of his day job's productions.
That said though, this is not his day job. It is for fun! Give it a listen with that point of view, and you just may hear some incredible music. The lyrics are playful, and the music holds it own to say the least.
This is art. Try it on. Let it play around in your head, and you may just find yourself putting it on without making the assumption that you are getting another Tool album.
I for one am diggin' it. Well done Maynard!

Definitely and interesting album. I didn't really know what to think of it on my first listen through, but for some reason I keep coming back to this album.
Like others have said, don't pick this up expecting it to be like anything you have heard from MJK's other bands. Listen to it with an open mind!
For some reason my favorite track has to be Drunk with Power. If you enjoyed this album check out Puscifer.com they have a few songs there that were not included on this album such as The Mission.

Maynard sure knows how to diversify his creative juices. Puscifer is another bold dimension of his musical expression! On VforV, he is unafraid to break artistic conventions and/or appear vulnerable. The result is a genuinely powerful sound which will stand the test of time. Although musically minimalistic, it is in most respects majestic.
Caution: this record may be unaccessible to the bigoted "rock/alt./metal" listener. If you have prejudices of what good music should sound like, then, VforV is not for you.
