Free Music Review: Our favorite cd for our 9-month old

I purchased several copies of this cd at Costco (sorry Amazon) while pregnant one year ago. I gave two cd's to my nephews and saved the third cd for our baby due March 2010. I had not heard any of the music on the cd prior to my purchase, but had high hopes since I already owned several of the Putomayo music cd's for adults (from Amazon :). I am SO glad that I hung on to that third cd for our future baby because ever since the first time that we listened to the cd while building our baby's crib, my husband and I were completely hooked from the very first song. Our baby is now 9 months old and clearly recognizes all of the songs because he claps and smiles whenever we turn on this music. There is only one warning and that is that pretty much all the songs on the cd are addictive and you'll find yourselves singing them to yourself often. (Our nephews love the cd too.)Free Music Review: Another "must have" for your child's music collection!

Like others here, my 2 1/2 daughter has most of the Putamayo Kids collection. This cd is by far her favourite - perhaps because she is an animal lover! The whole family enjoys listening the variety of music styles - from upbeat "No More Monkeys", jazzy "Dinosaur" song, folksy "The Littlest Bird" (my favourite) and Monthy Python-esque "Don't Step on a Snake" (Daddy's favourite).
We have made the Putamayo Kid collection cds standards as gifts for my child's friends. We gave "Animal Playground" as Christmas gifts and they were very well received. The gift of music is rarely given in this age of high tech toys and "Made in China" cheap plastic toys but it is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

I have most of the CD's in the Putumayo Kids collection. By far, this is my 16-mo son's favorite. It starts off very upbeat and my little guy immediately starts clapping along. Another one of our favorites is the Latin Playground CD. To be fair, he tends to like more uptempo music and the second the first track on this CD comes on, "I got ants in my pants..." he starts smiling and moving his body. This is a very nice collection of songs. Not a dud in the bunch.
As for the review that questions whether dinosaurs are real animals... well, even if you don't believe they existed, you'd probably still enjoy this CD.

I bought this CD to play for my 2 year-old daughter, who likes Caribbean music and children's songs. She loves this CD and plays it all day. My wife and I also like the music, so we don't have to suffer when my daughter wants to repeat it again and again. The music offers interesting takes on classic songs like Old MacDonald and No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. The mood is joyful and relaxing, with hints of jazz and reggae. In general, I find that all music from Putumayo Records are a great value and great entertainment.Free Music Review: Toddler's fave

Putomayo music is fantastic in that you can listen to it with your kids, yet not be embarrassed when other adults listen in. Great beats (with few exceptions) and definitely a crowd-pleaser with the diaper set.
Some of the songs are not in English, which is great because they're sung slowly enough that kids (and adults) can pick up foreign words along the way. We love Putomayo!
