Free Music Notes for The Dana Owens AlbumFree Music Review: Oh, Dana! Graceful, upbeat and strong--WOW! Hit: 5 Stars
The moment I finished listening to this CD, my knee-jerk reaction was simple: MORE! Queen Latifah proves she is as comfortable performing classic songs as she is doing rap. Her fans knew her talents as a rap artist; it is no surprise that she can pull this switch into more classic tunes without a hitch. (After all, she sang wonderfully in the movie Chicago without a rap format.)
Her voice is strong, sensuous, and just plain wonderful to listen to. Al Green also joins her in singing "Simply Beautiful," a song Green himself wrote.
The selected songs combine to form a very strong, unified set that is ecstasy to listen to the way you want to, maybe just relaxing or perhaps with a glass of fine wine. The quality of the music is excellent and the cover photo of Dana is beautiful. You don't get lyrics to the songs but the credits are there.
In short, BUY THIS CD! You won't be sorry! GRIN

I don't know what to say. Queen Latifah has truly evolved and matured into a very well rounded entertainer and most of all.....singer / songtress. Who knew that a hip hop icon could turn it out like this? As quiet as it may have been kept, I always felt she had a voice just by listening to some short stint vocals on some of her other cds. Then there was the movie, Chicago...her vocals there really made me listen and take notice. This sistah ain't no joke with her jazzy, sexy self. I like this cd from start to finish. It is a very sophisticated version of mainly retro jazz with a little r&b flavor. I think that she may have grown out of todays version of hip hop music. And that's not to say that she's washed up as a rapper, because the girl can still flow . So for all of you that don't think that hip hop or rap musciains are true artist....Meet Queen Latifah. I look foward to seeing the Queen do more material like this
Free Music Review: Don't forget the Livng out Loud Soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
I first heard of this album when she sang a song from it on David Lettermen. She is the Queen of rap but is also the Queen of Jazz/R&B. I was not surprized by what I heard on David Lettermen. All I Could say was finally some more of her great Jazz singing. I had sampled the sounds of Queen Latifah's Jazz side when watching the film from 1998 Movie Living Out Loud. Everyone here doing a review says wow she can do Jazz like on Chicago and now the Dana Owens Cd. All I am saying is Rent the DVD of Living Out Loud and Buy the CD of the Soundtrack. Her songs on them will blow you away just like the Dana Owens Album. I hope this is not the last jazz album from Queen Dana. Maybe the next album could be jazz originals.
Well here is an idea buy the Dana owens album and the Living out Loud Soundtrack which will get you over the amount needed to get you free shipping.
Free Music Review: The Best Album Of The Year!! Hit: 5 Stars
I was so shocked when I heard this album! I've been a huge fan of Latifah for years! She is so beautiful, and her voice is too! Being 17, I wouldn't normally like this music, but I thought "It's Queenie! I've got to get this album!" Plus, I don't get much Queen Latifah CD's in Britain so I thought it would be great to have Queen Latifah - The Dana Owens album in my collection.
Every track has its own special quality. My favourite has to be "The Same Love That Made Me Laugh" followed very closely with "California Dreamin'" then the rest of the album follows very closely with that too!
I would definately recommend for everyone to pick this album up, even if you're not a keen fan on the jazz region of music. I wasn't and I haven't listened to anything but Queenie for days!
Remember, I'm a 17 year old guy and loving this CD!!
Free Music Review: Sultry Latifah, Jazzy Latifah, Soulful Latifah Hit: 5 Stars
I'm happy to say that my girl Latifah is taking a break from the mic 4 a minute and try something different. I think she's ready to knock her singing talent this time since was on every show, every movie, and every appearance you can imagine.
One of my favorites from the album are Moody's Mood for Love, The Same Love that Make Me Laugh, California Dreamin' (we all know who did that The Mamas and the Papas), Lush Life, that's all I can think of 4 now.
This is a blend of jazz, soul, blues, and a lil R&B 2 deepen your soul. I recommended u check out Kenny G's AT LAST...THE DUETS ALBUM, Regina Belle's LAZY AFTERNOON, Anita Baker's MY EVERYTHING, Quincy Jones' Q'S JOOK JOINT, Wayman Tisdale's HANG TIME, Norman Brown's JUST CHILLIN' and David Sanborn's TIME AGAIN.
Yeah big up to my girl Queen Latifah 4 doin' her thing!
