Free Music Notes for A Night at the OperaFree Music Review: A Great Album! Hit: 5 Stars
A Night At The Opera is an awesome album and probably Queen's best. The album is a bridge between the heavy metal and hard rock Queen did before this album and the progressive experimental rock they would become known for afterwards.
1. Death On Two Legs- A good angry hard rocker.
2. Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon-Ok just too wierd...
3. I'm In Love With My Car- Another hard rocker. Roger Taylor has an awesome voice(though he can't do all the stuff Mercury can).
4. You're My Best Friend- A good pop song(yes it's that catchy one you've heard on the radio a million times).
5. 39- A kind of folk song but Brian May's voice is so beautiful you just have to love it.
6. Sweet Lady- Another hard rocker. Nothing special.
7. Seasise Rendezvous- More of an experiment than a song(fun to listen to though!).
8. The Prophet's Song- Sort of like a lesser Bohemian Rhapsody with all the style changes.
9. Love Of My Life- A sweet little softer ballad.
10. Good Company- A stranger one like "Lazing..." but actually good.
11. Bohemian Rhapsody- This basically gives you the album in a nutshell. It's a ballad, experimental and hard rock song all in one. If you've never heard it you have to go to youtube or somewhere and hear it(can't help but love the opera section don't ask...).
12. God Save The Queen-A cool different take on the song but should definetly have been placed in the middle(Bohemian Rhapsody is a great closer).

Again, Queen delivers one powerful album! Queen's earlier records have to be my favorites because they were so pure and uncorrupted by SYNTHESIZERS! Where did Queen go wrong with that? Oh well. This album is true Freddie Mercury shinanigans. "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon" and "Seadside Rendezvous" come to mind. Both are great songs and really make you picture Victorian England in it's hayday. "Death on Two Legs" is a great way to begin an album. You hear Freddie's hands fly across the piano and realize right from the get-go it's Queen. My favorite on this album would have to be "The Prophet's Song". It's such a gorgeous story and the visuals you get when you listen to it are remarkable. But who can forget the most famous song that came from this album, "Bohemian Rhapsody"? Freddie forever immortalized himself with this song. It is such a well-written song. And it really bothers me that I hear it wherever I go because now I can't stand listening to it. If this happens to you, don't say you hate the song because you don't. Just keep thinking that it's a masterpiece of a song and don't listen to it for a while. I garantee you will be craving it in the next month. My final word: buy this CD for "Bohemian Rhapsody". You will want to have it handy. Also, buy it for the simple reason that it's great early Queen and it showcases some of Freddie's greatest.
Free Music Review: Queen's best Hit: 5 Stars
Queen fans usually divide into two - those who like the earlier, 70s style of Queen, and those who enjoy the 80s Euro-pop Queen. I fall into the former, and for those, this album represents the height of their career and creative powers. It is not a moody rock album like Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. It does not try to be introspective. It does not try to be deep, although at many places it succeeds. It just has one thing in mind - to entertain you. This is evident from the first song, which has one of the greatest rock song openings out there, along with The Who's Baba Oriley and other greats. It then proceeds through 12 songs, some of them silly - but in an intelligent, Monty Python sort of way - some of them complex, some sad and some touching, but all vibrating with some sort of energy and enthusiasm that are evident even today, more than 25 years after the album has been released. Queen in fact managed to do what so many other artists are after - this is a progressive rock album, in terms of musical complexity, but without the progressive rock dullness found in so many other albums, because all the songs are so damn catchy! Personally this album had a very big influence on me and I easily put in on my shelf next to other rock greats such as The Wall, Led Zeppelin IV and others. I envy those who do not yet know it since they can now experience the magic of hearing it for the first time. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: Their best Hit: 5 Stars
Know what? People can say all they want how much better they think other albums are, how Queen II, or Innuendo, or Greatest Hits, or whatever is better. I'm sorry, but they're not.
Queen II is a good album, yes, but it's still Queen in the experimental stages, and some of the songs show the fact that they didn't collaborate as well as they did in later stages. You can tell that Roger Taylor was trying to find his place (Loser in the End is terrible), while John didn't have as much of a role, and Freddie and Mercury were show stealers every time. Just not pulled together as well.
Innuendo is, again, a good album, but the songs don't flow together as well as they do in A Night at the Opera. It feels more like a collaboration of different songs rather than an album. Plus, more of the songs are weak, and outside of the three great tracks most people mention, nothing feels like it has the Queen perfetionism.
A Night at the Opera is Queen at their best. There's musical diversity, whimsy, charisma, emotion, terriffic songwriting, beautiful arrangements, awesome harmonies, what is probably their best song (Bohemian Rhapsody), and best of all, it feels like they were all working to make it the best that they could, and it shows.
Don't get me wrong, albums like Innuendo and Queen II are Five star albums, but I'd give ANATO a billion stars if I could.

This is my favorite Queen album. Ranks as best album of all time in my list, among Led Zeppelin 4 and Toys in the Attic(Aerosmith). 1. Death on Two Legs- Good opener, this song was about the man who financially screwed them over. Very dark, something Queen didn't do much of. 4/5 2. Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon- Like a musical, short though, but I still like it. 4/5 3. I'm In Love With My Car- Good song. 5/5 4. You're Best Friend- Good song, dedicated to his wife. 4/5 5. '39- Nice little song by May. Pretty good. 4/5 6. Sweet Lady- Pretty good song. 4/5 7. Seaside Rendezvous- Like "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon", except longer. I like this one too. 4/5 8. The Prophets Song- This song is amazing. Great stuff here, one of my favorites by Queen. As many other reviewers have said, listen to the middle part with headphones. 5/5 9. Love of my Life- Nice ballad by Mercury. 4/5 10. Good Company- Good Song. 4/5 11. Bohemian Rhapsody- Most people just say "need i say anything" to this song, thats true, its one of the best songs ever made. I've known many people who like punk/...rap, and they like this song. Its loved by all. GREAT SONG. 5/5(i'd give it a lot more than that, more like 10/5, but im being fair here.) 12. God Save the Queen- Good guitar playing by May here, its good. 4/5 All in all, very good cd. Highly recommended. Enjoy it
