Free Music Notes for Greatest Hits I, II & III - The Platinum Collection (3CD)Free Music Review: The Complete Queen Hit: 5 Stars
This anthology is a jewel. It is a tour trough the history of one of the most important bands in rock history. The three cd's (previously released), contains 50 tracks that define the most remarkable moments of the Queen History. But it also contains many other rare songs, (at least for all those whom are not truly fans) like "Driven by You", solo by Brian May and "Barcelona", Freddie's & spanish soprano Monserrat Caballé duet. This compilation contains many larger-than-life classics, such as: Bohemian Rhapsody (with the Galileos in the opera section), We are the Champions, A kind of Magic, Show must Go on, We will rock you, Somebody to love, Under Pressure, Crazy little thing called love, Save me, Killer Queen, It's a Hard Life, I want it all, Inuendo, among many, many others. This anthology has to be analyse with care, but it can be define like this: There are two albums with the best songs of the Queen history (GH I % II)and an album that allows you to discover the complexity of Queen's career and evolution. (GH III) Highlights: The remixed Under Pressure with David Bowie, Show must go on with Elton John, Only the good die young, song written specifically by the other three members of Queen (Roger, Brian and John) for Freddie, among others. Good music listeners, this is a Must-Buy.
Free Music Review: The Best Deal for The Best Band Hit: 5 Stars
Queen is one of those rare bands that will never be matched, it's been said before, but Freddie's voice really was the best. And Finally the Platinum collection is available in the USA, If your new to Queen I recommmend this set, If your an old time fan to, because you've probably only heard 1/3 of the set, that being the 70's hits. It's almost the exact same thing as Greatest Hits I-II (with the exception of GH III), but the disks have their original covers, not the gold ones, and The booklet is a alot better. How could you pass this up? It's the same price as the other one. You've got their beginning work such as the ever-so-popular BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, Deacon's ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, The 2 "double sided" singles FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS/BICYCLE RACE and WE WILL ROCK YOU/WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS and all the stuff in between. Then the later work such as the Bass/synth driven BREAKTHRU, classic 80's soft rock like A KIND OF MAGIC and UNDER PRESSURE, not to mention some of their heaviest, I WANT IT ALL, HEADLONG, ONE VISION, and HAMMER TO FALL. But the Real bonus is the 3rd CD, capturing solo work, remixes, stuff from MADE IN HEAVEN, and songs that got lost in the shuffle. Don't waste your time with stuff that's being played today because it's popular, get the GOOD stuff!!!
Free Music Review: For the Die hard fan or casual listener Hit: 5 Stars
This collection of Queen songs reflects the bands transformation from small time to super-stardom.
Although some reviewers would like to attack the bands front man, the Late Freddie Mercury for being a homosexual and saying the band is dead doesn't make any point, and doesn't even make a review.
This album covers everything, from oldies like Seven Seas, to songs most haven't heard, like the Under Pressure and Another One Bites The Dust remixes. Yes... they are a little different, but a nice touch.
Throwing in live performances of some songs (The Show Must go On by Elton John) and some Freddie solo material (Living on my own)
A Collection would be owning every album so if you never plan on getting more than the greatest hits albums I'd say go for gold... or Platinum that is!
It's not about Freddie being gay and dying of AIDS. It's about a man and a band that changed the world of Rock music. A band that gave us songs that people could relate to, sing to and dream to.
It's a perfect collection and well worth it!
Free Music Review: Rock's Cameleont Can Do No Wrong Hit: 5 Stars
This collection is the perfect start for someone who can't deside which album to buy in their catalogue. It also provides the american audience with the classics "that should have been in the top" - like elswhere in the world. This collection is the testament that Queen where behind Beatles the most successfull band to rise from Great Britain. Only critics didn't understand their unique musical skills and their sense of entertainment. They could mix humour, professionality and excitement.Freddie Mercurys voice and persona had 100% originality and nobody could make the sounds on guitar like Brian May. Everybody in the the band was great songwriters - and it shows in this collection. It's worth every last penny you got. What would the music world be without: A kind Of Magic, The Show Must Go On, Bo Rhap, Champions, These Are The Days Of Our Lives, I Want It All, Innuendo and Another One Bites The Dust and Crazy Little Thing Called Love?? - A whole lot more boring. Long live the majesty that was and still is QUEEN.
Free Music Review: Queen Greatest hits, Platinum Collection Hit: 5 Stars
I have just recenty rediscovered Queen with the Wembly concert. So it was an absloute treat to recieve this collection to add to my ever growing Queen collection. I was absolutely blown away with the songs "I want it all", "The show must go on" and "Hammer to fall" I was also amazed at the version of "Somebody to love" that George Michaels did with Queen. ALMOST as good as Freddie. There is a few songs that were not so good on the last disk but most is an absolute treat to the ears. Not to mention the soul. Also, going through the little booklet was great too since it had a little background knowledge on each of the songs not to mention the great pictures.
If you are a Queen fan this is a must to own and cherish!!! The only BAD thing about this whole set is after you've played them all it leaves you wanting more. Freddie was a great entertainer and showman and died way too soon but at least we have collections like these to remember just how great the band was and how talented they all were.
