Free Music Review: A superb album
Hit: 5 Stars

Despite being almost forgotten by everyone, Jazz is a great album. It's one of the most diverse albuns on Queen's discography, only left-behind by "A Night at the Opera", Queen's masterpiece, in terms of diversity of sounds.

To have a look at the track is a good way to get to know the album:

1 - Mustapha - An arabic music, with some guitar-rock quite audible. Not quite good, but worth listening.

2 - Fat Bottomed Girls - A hit! However, the rocky stile of the track is a bit antiquated...

3 - Jealousy - A beautiful love ballad... How could this track be forgotten? One of my favourites!

4 - Bicycle Race - Magnificently made music! This one will rock you 'till you explode!

5 - If You Can't Bet Them - A good music, despite being not one of the best in this album. It's a rock track.

6 - Let Me Entertain You - Pure rock, a great music in live shows, like the one recorded in Montreal, in 1984!

7 - Dead On Time - Generally, I jump this track, as it is the most "heavy" in the album. However, is not a bad music, for fast rock lovers, Steppenwolf style.

8 - In Only Seven Days - Beautiful ballad... I almost fly when listening to this enchanting music!

9 - Dreamer's Ball - Another great music, remembering old balls...

10 - Fun It - In this one, Roger Taylor sings most of the vocals. Everytime he sings, musics get a heavier touch, and sometimes a strange one. But this one is good, mainly because Freddie also sings

11 - Leaving Home Ain't Easy - In the same style than "In Only Seven Days", only sung by Brian May. Quite beautiful one.

12 - Don't Stop Me Now - This one is the pearl of the album, one of the best tracks in all Queen repertory, and one of the best rock songs of all time! I listen to this one many, many times...

13 - More of that Jazz - Maybe the worst music of the album, cancelling not-so-well the original album.

My cd hasn't got the mixed versions but, even without them, is a great album, worth buying for any price!

Free Music Review: A personal favorite......
Hit: 5 Stars

It was the fall of 1978 and i was a 20 year old student at the university of new orleans. My favorite band was queen and when i heard they were coming to the big easy on oct 31st i was estatic. Now put these three together and you can understand what a cool time it was. New orleans french quarter, halloween night, Queen concert, Need i say more?

Unfortunately their new album jazz wouldn't be on the shelves untill a couple of weeks after that date. Well the concert was fantastic and the partying after was a blast. One of the best times of my life! I did get to hear 2/3 of jazz live before it was out on vinyl and i liked what i heard. They opened with "let me entertain you" and to this day it is one of my favorite queen songs.

This is an album of good times, a celebration of personal freedom. Look at the words to bicycle race "i'll ride it where i like". Then there's "don't stop me now" an anthem to good clean fun! "Fat bottom girls" is in the same vein as is "fun it". "Dead on time" rocks with the best of them! This is typical queen great rock music with that unmistakable artistic brilliance. Every song except maybe mustapha and the dreamers ball are outstanding though "jealousy" isn't quite the equal of love of my life or you take my breath away.

If you are a queen fan buy it. If you are a rock fan buy it. 5.5 Music Review: Just a great album!
Hit: 5 Stars I've been reading some of the reviews on Amazon and I'm a little perplexed. To me, there a so many good songs on this album, I'm a little surprised that any of the reviews are negative.
On this album, you've got "Don't stop me now", surely one of the best songs Freddie ever wrote. Then there's "Fat Bottom Girls", sexixt maybe but who cares when its such a super song.
Then there's "Leaving home ain't easy" and "In only seven days" which are beautiful songs with plenty of feeling.
There are good rockers too. "Let me entertain you" and "Leave on time" are just great. Then there's the clever but strange "Mustapha" and the funky "Fun It" which also hits the spot (not normally my cup of tea at all}.
I remember when I first listened to this album. I didn't like it much. But then oh boy!. Maybe this is why such a surprising number of people wrote negative reviews. Or maybe some people don't like (or can't handle) the wide variety of musical styles that are on the album. For me, this album belongs in the top 6 that Queen have produced, along with "A Nght at the Opera", "Innuendo", "Queen 2" "News of the World" and "Flash Gordon". I might even be able to push it into the top 4, but I don't really think its necessary.
Queen have produced some super albums and this is definitely one of them. I think most of you who are considering purchasing this album will absolutely love it!

Free Music Review: One Of The Best Queen Albums
Hit: 5 Stars

It has been argued over the last 20 years as to which Queen album was the best. It's likely to be argued over the next 20 years as well. But one point most Queen fans can agree on is this; JAZZ is ONE of their best. From the classic pomp of "Bicycle Race," to the tongue-in-cheek Rock of "Fat Bottomed Girls," To the crushing METAL of "Let Me Entertain You" and "Dead On Time," JAZZ covers all of the Queen bases. In fact, Queen was particularly adept at writing and recording some excellent Heavy Metal songs, and "LMEY" and "DOT" actually sound a bit (just a bit!) like Iron Maiden. But JAZZ is NOT a Metal album by any stretch of the imagination, it is pure Queen. With Rock And Roll as a launching point, this rocket flies all over Rock-related territory; from the beautiful ballad "Jealousy," to the straight-ahead Rock of "If You Can't Beat Them," to the Queen dixieland of "Dreamer's Ball," to the Funk of "Fun It," JAZZ is all over the place. But what is amazing is how it all works together with a cohesivenes that only Queen could achieve with an album filled with so many different musical styles. Then again, that is the mark of a great Queen album. Recommended very highly along with A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, SHEER HEART ATTACK, and INNUENDO.

Free Music Review: Jazz ... oh yes.
Hit: 5 Stars

It doesn't really get any better than this. This album has everything Queen were capable of. Rock, Opera, Baroque, Ballads and even dance (or disco)! To me, this is Queen summing up everything they had put onto a record throughout the 70's with a glimpse of the areas they were going to venture into in the 80's and beyond. Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race are the songs that everybody knows inside and out (heh), so no need to discuss those. Personally, my favorites on this album are Roger's, funnily enough. Fun It is just a really fun song and More of that Jazz displays Roger's vocal capabilities quite well. Just listen to those high notes he hits. Up until a few weeks ago, I was certain that Dreamer's Ball was written by Freddie - it reminds me very much of Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon and Seaside Rondevouz from Opera, but it was in fact written by Brian. Another of my favorites. As I always say, go out and buy Jazz if you want to get to know Queen 70's. It has it all.
