Free Music Notes for Made in Heaven

Free Music Review: my all time favorite band.
Hit: 5 Stars

if this album was released in 1978 it would have been a disapointing album, that's the mistake that critics make when listening to made in heaven. boy, do i have a soft spot for this album, when i first bought this in 1995 i was hoping for another classic rock album like 'innuendo' but what i got was a very melodic easy sounding album. on first listen i was bit disapointed, but over time i would find the true charm of this great tribute to freddie mercury. as a queen fan, how can you not love songs like the reflective 'a winter's tale' the last song freddie wrote, or 'mother love' the last vocal take from freddie. the title track is a powerfull power ballad, which originally was a freddie solo song, obviously fits the mood of this album perfectly. it's hard to consider this album as a all time classic, but what you have is a consistently solid album with no bad songs, also, while listening to this underated gem, think back to the glory days of the 70's, when queen were on top of the world, the big party band, when life was only a good time, oh, how times change.

Free Music Review: Emotionally Packed from start to finish!
Hit: 5 Stars

Made in Heaven is a miracle in itself. When I listen to it, and think about what condition Freddie was in while recording, it makes the songs that much more emotional. It is surprisingly uplifting and optimistic throughout, with only an occasion glimpse into what must have been going through his mind. Only "Mother Love" (recorded a scant month before Freddie's death) and "Too Much Love will Kill You" seem to shine a light into the unimaginable pains he must have been facing. Every song is emotionally overwhelming, and I defy anyone to say that it is not amazing to hear what Freddie sounded like, while so close to his death. This is a must for any and all Queen fans, if only to have their final album. This is a supreme swan song for the quintessential frontman, Freddie Mercury. His presence forever living on in these songs, as well as those in earlier records. Amazing, wonderful, not to be missed!

Free Music Review: EXCELLENT EPITAPH TO A FINE MAN
Hit: 5 Stars

I have never been a great Queen fan, but have always respected their music and in particular, the talent of Freddie Mercury.

However, after seeing a documentary on the band recently, I listened to this album which my brother, a keen Queen fan, had recommended to me.

I have to say I found it one of the most beautiful albums I have ever listened to, it contains one of the best blends of Queen's musical range and talent. It is also touching to think that this was recorded when Freddie Mercury was dying of aids.

His condition shows through on the first two tracks, where his heavy breathing and strained voice show that he was having to force the sound out. He would have been in immense pain, as the other band members have since confirmed.

It is a superb record, and as a casual listener of Queen material, I am less likely to bestow praise without good reason!

A recommended buy, for anyone who appreciates good music.

Free Music Review: the test of time
Hit: 5 Stars

in 1975 i watched the glory of the band queen come to life before me at at the palace theatre in waterbury, ct. i have been a fan since. it was with great anticipation that i waited for "made in heaven."

it was given to me as a christmas gift, and what a gift!

though a somewhat recylced effort the canvas against which this gathering of songs has been given birth is still queen. much of these recordings have been pieced together flawlessly. these songs carry the same warmth and diversity as any others.

i have now listened to this recording for 5 or 6 years and it continues to grow on me. a magic came about through vocals, guitars, words, and love of the art.

somehow it is fitting that some of the piano lines in the final "it's a beautiful day" make reference to " the seven seas of ryhe." this was a well thought out treasure and given it ability to age well, it will be a classic.

Free Music Review: Amazing last release
Hit: 5 Stars

This was the first Queen CD I got after the "Classic Queen" and "Greatest Hits" CDs. I've since picked up most of the rest. In my opinion, it's one of their best. Of the Queen CDs I have, it's one of the three I play straight through without skipping a track. It ranks right behind "Innuendo" in my opinion.

I'd suggest not over-analyzing which song came from which solo album; listen to it on its own merits, the results are what count. This is powerful stuff, especially if you know how some of the tracks were recorded. It can bring a tear (or three) to your eyes.

I've since picked up the "Mr. Bad Guy" CD, and so have heard the previous version of a couple of the tracks. Hearing the two versions, you can hear how much more powerful they became with the full Queen treatment.

My suggestion: play the samples on the web page, and if you like what you hear, buy it.
