Free Music Notes for Queen: Greatest Hits I & IIFree Music Review: Unrivalled Hit: 5 Stars
I would have loved to have seen what Queen would have done if Freddy Mercury had not tragically died.He was not only the icon of rock in the 80's but the icon of an era which sadly has faded out. Definitely one of the great bands of all time, with their simple but sublime songs. It was no wonder though, with talent the likes of Brian May. Mercury was one of the showmen of rock, a breed which has long ago died.He inspired fans and other musicians to live and breathe their music rather than play it. This is an album to show your kids one day, it has all their really awesome songs, and is worth the buy even if it's not your kind of music, it is undeniably eclectic. A Killer Queen album. kadu81@hotmail.com
Free Music Review: To Freddie, His Royal Majesty and his accompanying band of dukes .... Hit: 5 Stars
Surprisingly enough i was not a great Queen fan until i saw a South African production titled "Queen at the Opera" which re-created their hit songs in an operatic twist. It was an one act musical of 60 minutes that blew my mind - as it did the rest of the audience who, for the first time ever in my theatrical experience, rose as one at the end of the show to give the performers' a standing ovation. The show could have and should have toured Broadway and the West End (it excelled by far "We Will Rock You") and it would have run for years. From this unexpected initiation I became a fan of Freddie and the band for life and this Greatest Hits compilation does great justice to the phenomenal that is Queen. . .
Free Music Review: A review for the best song ever - Bohemian Rhapsody Hit: 5 Stars
Even though this CD is good, that's not what I'm writing about. I'm writing about the best song ever, "Bohemian Rhapsody".This song is a masterpiece. I mean think about it...I'm an average teenage kid who likes to listen to metal and punk than anything from the 70's. So that's why I was so shocked when I heard this for the first time. It's got everything. It starts as a (better than average) regular rock song. Then, all of a sudden, it goes opera on you! Which then transforms into a hard rock song. Then it turns into a ballad. So what genre is this song? There is no genre for this song. Go download the song "Bohemian Rhapsody". Even better, download the video, it's even better.
Free Music Review: Come for part 1, stay for part 2... Hit: 5 Stars
As a unit, this collection is superior to either Classic Queen or Greatest Hits in that you get a wider swath of the band's hits. It is also a better buy than the Platinum Collection due to that third disk's dubious worth. The first disk chronicles the band's rise to the top; culminating in the brash minimalist excercises "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." Disk two shows the band travelling further down that path. Even though they were abandoned by fickle American audiences, Queen continued to hone its attack with the postmodern cadences of "Radio Ga Ga," and beautiful ballads like "It's a Hard Life." Queen rock. Buy this.
Free Music Review: An Amazing Mix of Musicality-Queen Endures!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I was not alive when most of these songs were originally recorded, however, I am a huge fan of all genres of music, including classic rock. When I first heard this two disc set, I was enchanted by the melodies, the vocals, and the instrumentation. Such moving ballads as the little known, "Save Me" and "Who Wants to Live Forever" are among my many favorites. You have the golden age of Queen in such hits as "We Are The Champions" and "Bohemian Rhapsody", as well as their later fare such as "Radio Ga Ga" and "Breakthru". It's all fresh, captivating, emotional, yet lighthearted, witty, brilliant, stirring...it's well...Queen!!!!
