Free Music Notes for Queen - Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: Perfect Compilation
Hit: 5 Stars

As a kid, Queen was the first group I ever listened to. My brother bought me a tape of their album, The Game, at the age of 6 and I immediately fell in love with it. Adoring it, I would listen to it day after day, jamming to tracks like Dragon Attack, Play The Game, Save Me and Another one bites the dust.
Finally at age nine, I felt it necessary to further pursue my interest in Queen and when I was in a music store with my mom and sister and spotted a CD of theirs on the shelf I had to have it. I pleaded with my mom until she finally gave in and now I had my second Queen album, Greatest Hits (Hollywood).
And I can assure you, Greatest Hits (Hollywood) is the ideal Queen album for anyone who is just beginning to take an interest to their music. While it mainly focuses on capturing Queen's balladic side near the end of the album, the beginning features the ever powerful "We Will Rock You", and appropriately following it is "We Are The Champions". One of the best aspects of this album is the fact that it features hits that are known by Queen fans, but not outsiders. (i.e. you're my best friend, now I'm here, play the game, Body Language etc.). All of these tracks are beautifully composed and display the remarkable abilities of Queen as a band. The compilation features seperate tracks from nearly all of their albums up to the date of this release and none of the tracks disappoint. It's especially a thrill to hear lesser known yet fabulous tracks like Don't Stop Me Now and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy. I still listen to this album to this day and love every song on it.

Recommended to anyone interested in Queen, who loves rock n' roll or someone who just plain loves Queen.

Free Music Review: EXCELLENT Compilation!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of those rare high quality "greatest hits" compilations that deal a hearty selection of great Queen Songs during their finest hours. If you want only one Queen CD with a solid grouping of Queen's work, this package is the way to go. You not only get their signature songs, but also a great sampling of their best songs that got little radio play like "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy," "Seven Seas of Rhye," and "Now I'm Here."

All of Queen's albums from their debut up until the 1978 release of "Jazz" are, in my opinion, such excellent pieces of work that any could qualify as a "Greatest Hits" collection. In fact, the only reason I would want to steer you away from this CD is because while everything here is very good, there is so much premium Queen music packed into each of their individual albums of that era. "Sheer Heart Attack" is a masterpiece, and "News of the World" is such a strong album that it is almost one big song unto itself.

My only disappointment with this CD is the lack of material from their first two albums. Songs like "Keep Yourself Alive," "King Rat" and "Ogre Battle" would have been great on this collection. Still, this is a minor complaint, since this CD is a much tighter and solid collection than the other two prominent Queen compilations: "Classic Queen" does have "Keep Yourself Alive" but is a hit-&-miss album overall, and the 2 disc "Greatest Hits" is good, but does not let the band's greatness shine like this CD does.

If you are just getting familiar with Queen's work and want to sample a CD to get a feel which tunes grab you, this is a really good place to start.

Free Music Review: Queen are actually the KING!
Hit: 5 Stars

Great CD. I got this for my Dad on Father's Day because my Dad likes Queen and Classic Rock but when I got this, the only songs I cared for by Queen all along were just their two most famous ones. We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. I didn't care for the other songs such as Killer Queen or Another one Bites the Dust. But later on when I heard Killer Queen on AOL Radio, I liked it and also on AOL Radio, I heard Bohemian Rhapsody and on that LIVE AID concert I saw Freddie Mercury singing Radio Ga Ga. Now I wish this CD had those two classics. Bohemian Rhapsody and Radio Ga Ga. But still it's a good CD. It's sad that Freddie Mercury died. To me, it seemed like he was the best part of the band. And his voice captured the part of Queen. Now my Dad told me there's a new singer for Queen but I don't think he's half as good as Freddie Mercury. And also there's a song once I heard on Ken Hawk's Rock 'n' Roll. That show only comes on the Aurora Access Channel and you have to live in Aurora to see that. I don't watch it but once I saw Queen performing a song called Princes of the Universe. I don't know if that song is THAT famous by Queen because I looked in most of the albums here on amazon.com and most of them didn't have that song. I guess it's from the '80s. But anyway, Queen is the KING of Rock 'n' Roll and they will be a piece of treasure!

Free Music Review: A jewel of a record
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a terrific introduction or re-introduction to the magic of Queen. That is not to say that every song here will join your list of favorites, but these are 17 fairly representative songs--a survey of Queen that includes some big winners but necessarily leaves out some of their most engaging work (to be found especially on "News of the World" and "Sheer Heart Attack"). And of course, this collection doesn't have "Bohemian Rhapsody". All the more reason to explore--if you haven't already--Queen's original albums. On this one, "Now I'm Here" is one of the best, most passionate rock songs ever; "Crazy Little Thing etc." is splendidly cool, and "Killer Queen" is delightfully playful and melodic. As for "Fat Bottomed Girls", I don't understand the disapproval directed it as "loutish" (never mind that the Rolling Stones have made a career of being loutish, and no one seems to object much). We all know that men aren't generally shy about their desires, and that they also indulge in fantasy (witness, for example, Robert Plant singing about his 11 children and constant heaven, or Rod Stewart singing about "Hot Legs" (bring your mother too!)). The song is a romp. Queen is fun and rewarding. Get the CD. ---Amanda

Free Music Review: THE BEST QUEEN CD FOR YOUR MONY!
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD I highly recomend! I dont think there is another band out there that has had more hits then Queen! If you havent herd any of these songs you must live in a cave! Another thing about Queen, is that all there songs have a differnt sound but all of them are master pieces! But all their songs have that awsome moving Queen hormony! If you want "Elvis Presly" listen too " CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLD LOVE". If you want "David Bowie" Listen to " UNDER PRESSURE" If you want the

"Beattles" listen too " KILLER QUEEN". The one of the thing that I mostly love about Queen is their wide range of sound, thay have it all and thay do it well! Personaly my favorites are: WE WILL ROCK YOU, ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, GOOD OLD FASHION LOVER BOY, KILLER QUEEN, and last but not least, I WANT TO BREAK FREE, it is an awsome song! But I love all these songs,if you are a new Queen listener I would sugest this alblum and "Classic Queen" The song

"Bohemion Rapsody" is alone worth buying the alblum for. But I like this one a little better then Classic Queen. This CD is well worth the mony and you never get tieard of listening to it! Man to Bad Freddy Mercery Died from "AIDS"!
