Free Music Notes for Queen - Greatest HitsFree Music Review: Genre Bender's Greatest Hits Hit: 5 Stars
Although it lacks a few of their best songs, Queen's "Greatest Hits" is a nice starting point for anyone who remembers the band from their glory days and for those just beginning this royal rock journey. I think that few people would argue the point that Freddie Mercury truly had one of the best voices around. He could meld it to any of a number of genres of music and that's well-evidenced on this album. From the anthemic "We Will Rock You" to the rockabilly "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," to the groovy, urban stylings of "Another One Bites The Dust," Mercury and the boys constantly crossed genre lines.
Highlights including those previously mentioned are "I Want To Break Free," "Save Me", "Killer Queen," "Somebody To Love," and the wonderfully strange "Body Language." My personal favorite is "Fat-Bottomed Girls."
Fans of arena rock bands like Styx and Foreigner will surely enjoy Queen, although Queen is on an entirely different level than those bands. They are classic rock royalty and I highly recommend you snag "Classic Queen" to get a more complete understanding of Queen's broad-reaching style of music.
Highly recommended.
Free Music Review: Queen is Amazing! Hit: 5 Stars
This CD was my first exposure to Queen. As is evident on this album, this band is absolutely overflowing with talent. Freddie Mercury is a genius, singing his heart out on every single one of these tracks. It's hard to pick and choose, but I would have to say that the standout tracks for me are:
"Somebody to Love": A huge, sprawling song with absolutely mesmorizing vocals from Freddie Mercury and amazing harmonies.
"Fat Bottom Girls": A classic hard rock tune with gorgeous harmonies and great guitar lines.
"You're My Best Friend": A smooth, cool, beautiful, and underrated love song.
"Seven Seas of Rhye": I love the piano on this song, and the classic hard rock feel.
"Don't Stop Me Now": A classic adrenaline-rush of a song.
I love this CD. You should get it if you like Queen. It's very cohesive. And if you don't really know Queen that well, it's a great sampler of their music. There is one problem. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is my favorite Queen song, and its absence on this album irks me quite a bit. That being said, I would download it individually before I would actually buy another album with it.
Free Music Review: Queen...what more do I have to say!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Queen/Freddie Mercury are one of the best bands of all time! If you haven't heard this CD, your missing out more than you'll ever possibly know!!! This is by far one of the best albums ever made! Queen's Greatest Hits...wew...they have so many, they have to put them on "3" different albums! I'd say that is fantastic! I don't know of anyone else that has that many! Maybe there is, but I haven't heard! I would comment on every song...but it's just impossible...I'd end up writing a novel!!! Just about every hit on this album was either a #1 hit, in a movie(Highlander..etc..), or it is played contstantly at sports arenas every day of our lives! This is such a talented band! They deserve way more that they have ever received! And they finally will be inducted into the Rock & Roll hall-of-fame...March 19, 2001! A well deserved honor...unfortunate that Freddie Mercury isn't alive to celebrate this honor! He was Queen...listen to the music on this album, and you'll understand exactly what I'm saying!!!
Free Music Review: Really Good Single Disc Greatist Hits Hit: 5 Stars
Mercury had talented vocals, being able to go to all the high notes us normal people can't reach and then some. How many times has "We Are The Champions" been played at a hockey game?Countless times and who can forget "We Will Rock You"?
With the exception of 1 major track missign this compilation is still awsome. Each song is soft enough for mellowed out people to enjoy, but heavy enough that casual rockers will like it.(Metal heads will not know what to expect with this oddball)Some songs like "Killer Queen" many buy into it right away others will think it's kinda wimpy.IF you have seen "Shawn Of The Dead" you have to know "Don't Stop Me Now".Such a well assembled song, the chorus is just top notch. If you have seen the Coke commercial aired some time ago they also played "I Want To Break Free" wich is another instant classic.
If you haven't caught on yet alot of these songs are commercial in many ways past music making almost impossible not enjoy atleast on song.
Free Music Review: Definitely worthwhile Hit: 5 Stars
This collection is necessary to anybody who likes rock. Queen are the greatest band ever (in my opinion).Queen are famous for 'We will rock you' and 'we are the champions', but those aren't the best songs on the album. 'Another one bites the dust' and 'Crazy little thing called love' are all-time classics, and they were Queen's first two #1 hits in the US. 'Killer Queen' and 'Somebody to Love' are both brilliant songs. Other notable songs are 'Bicycle Race', 'Now I'm here', 'seven seas of rhye', and 'Don't stop me now.' There are, however, two minor errors. 1) Bohemian Rhapsody, the best song in the history of the world, is missing. But it's on 'Classic Queen', so now worries. 2) 'I want to break free', although a fantastic song, was released in 1984, when everyhting else was before 1982. Classic Queen is supposed to pick up where this album left off. Classic Queen MUST be bought with this to do justice. It covers Queen's later works.
