one of the best things about queens of the stone age is that it's really difficult for me to liken them to any other band. they do what they do really well and it's always refreshing and different. i actually prefer era vulgaris to songs for the deaf, despite the fact that dave grohl's drumming on here is superb. overall though, this album is excellent.Free Music Review: QOTSA's best (and that's saying a lot!)

Songs for the deaf i have to say is a really good album. We got some great songs on this one. Well of course there are some songs that i did not really enjoy, which is: six shooter, a song for the dead, you think i aint worth a dollar but i feel like a millionaire, and the final track; mosquito song. But still, all the rest of the songs like the sky is falling, no one knows, first it giveth, go with the flow, gonna leave you, do it again, and god is in the radio are pretty amazing. rock on queens of the stone age!!!!!!!Free Music Review: Best Album Ever? So i've never been much of a heavy metal (where the singer's lyrics can't be discrened because he's jsut screaming) enthuse because i never saw the music in the stuff. So that being said, first track, BOOM, thats all i can say. It's so in your face rockin that you just can't ignore it. With the bassist Nick Oliveri wailing away on most of the vocals and the lead singer/rythim guitarist Josh Homme holdin down the riffs, it's a song like i havent heard in, well, ever. The albums energy continues all the way through, though i'm not a big fan of the track Shooter, everything else is absolutely essential for any rock fan. As it is a bit of a concept type album in certain aspects, it's a bit like a Pink Floyd album for hard rockers. So whether you like it because it's got that stoner music vibe, or you're just looking for something new, don't overlook this album.
