Free Music Notes for Operation: Mindcrime

Free Music Review: Greatest Concept Album Ever? Quite Possibly...
Hit: 5 Stars

"I remember now...
I remember how it started...
I cant remember yesterday...
I just remember doing what they told me...
Told me...
Told me...
Told me..."

Hearing these words to this day still gives me the chills, then Anarchy-X just pounds into your brain. Operation Mindcrime is one of the handful of 80's Metal CD's that will never age because of a few things: Great Songs writing, a gripping story, Geoff Tate, and the the amazing Guitar duets. This is a top notch CD. When it came out I was 8 years old, and I was able to see them perform this in concert 2 years late, and it was one of the greatest shows I have ever been to. Now onto this amazing CD.

This is hands down the best CD I own. I don't want to get into the songs to much as it will spoil the story line, all I can say is that every song on this CD blends together well, and requires some use of you brain to figure out this twisting and turning story.

5/5

Free Music Review: Best concept/story album ever!
Hit: 5 Stars

2112 by Rush, and Tommy by The Who are legendary concept albums,But In my opinion ,There just Isn't anything like Operation mind crime! When I first put the tape in my walkman and listened, and heard I remember now and going right into Anarcy X, It blew my mind!It does pull you into another world. Its a dark story.with a realistic ending, Not the happy ending you might expect when you first listen to the CD.It left room for the second OMC witch I have heard and find great too, Not the masterpiece like this one, however!the Intro to spreading the disease and the song eyes of a stanger where my favorite parts of the CD Suite sister Mary is a great song.Breaking the silence is awesome,The needle lies is cool too.And I don't believe in love was also really cool! The album keeps you thinking the entire time, and just keeps getting better al the way too the end with awesome songs that I never get tired of,no matter how many times I hear the album.A must have for any true Queensryche fan.

Free Music Review: There's a Revolution Calling.....you!
Hit: 5 Stars

I first heard Queensryche on the now defunct "Headbanger's Ball" which was paved over for shows like TRL on the awful network MTV. I first heard " Revolution Calling", then "Speak". I heard these two songs and realized... i need to get this album! The videos play an intrigal part in making Operation Mindcrime an essential must have. here is a great story that goes along with the twin guitar attack of Degarmo and Wilton, the pulse pounding rythym of Jackson and Rockenfeld, and of course the great vocals of one of rock's most underated vocalists...Geoff Tate. It is ashamed most people never think of this great band that came out of Seattle. They were metal in a new way that was daring and conceptual. They weren't a hair or grunge band. I recommend this albmum highly as well as there commercial smash "Empire". It is one of the great concept albums in the tradition of ones such as "I-ROBOT" and "The Wall"

Free Music Review: MINDCRIME IS IT -- This is the Pinnacle for the 'Ryche
Hit: 5 Stars

While this is a relatively old album, it really is the benchmark which Queenryche and other bands are measured. As an "old school" ryche fan, I got bought a few live CDs thinking that I would get a great dose of 5.1 ryche pleasure.

Wow! Was I in for a surprise. Queensryche will forever struggle with being compared to this CD. Although it is subjective, the other CDs aren't 20% as woven together, melodic, and powerful as this one.

Some people look at fine wine as a living thing that gets better to a point and then starts to decay. The same is true for Queensryche. This was it. If you haven't bought this album, I implore you to do it. While there have been concept albums before from Tommy to Mr. Roboto, this is a masterpiece.

I know Mindcrime II is out, but it too wants in comparison to the original. I would recommend buying this CD and the Livecrime DVD in 5.1.

Free Music Review: Before they brought you "Silent Lucidity..."
Hit: 5 Stars

Queensryche-Operation: Mindcrime (1988) Before they brought you "Silent Lucidity," Seattle's best hard rock band churned out this amazing piece of work. Another concept album, it is a story of a drug addict named Nikki who falls in with a corrupt political leader, Dr. X. He soon falls in love with an ex-prostitute-turned nun named Mary (of course) and becomes brainwashed, murdering the lecherous priest. Mary is also murdered and Nikki is framed by Dr. X for both crimes. Fans of "the `ryche" were left wondering, "Who killed Mary?" for over a year. Singer Geoff Tate was trained as an opera singer, while the entire band are amazing musicians in their own right. There are some great left-winged political lyrics in songs like "Revolution Calling." The operatic mini-epic, "Suite Sister Mary," is also awe-inspiring. Queensryche have always been called the "thinking man's metal band."
