Free Music Notes for Queer As Folk: Club Babylon / TV O.S.TFree Music Review: Good...not great. Hit: 3 Stars
I had high hopes for this cd but it was kind of a let down. Is fun to hear but after a while it turns repetitive. Great adition to a dance colection.
Free Music Review: First disk much better than second Hit: 3 Stars
The mixing was really great on these CDs, but the first disk was definitely much better than the second.
Free Music Review: Okay, But Not What I Expected Hit: 2 Stars
I'm rather disappointed with the 'Club Babylon' 2-disk set. For starters these ARE NOT the actual dance mixes as played on the show. These are songs mixed by Chris Cox and Abel Aguilar, and while good, they aren't the same. Also, some of the best sounds from the show like The Chemical Brothers, Infra Riot and the Sound of Violence are absent here, BUT...there ARE some tracks included (and performers) that I don't recognize from the season disks at all.
I think Tommy Boy records slapped some stuff together, slaped 'QAF' on it and rushed it out knowing once the fans made the purchase it's their disappointment and TB's profit. I'll probably try to sell this out to Ebay. If you're looking for the actual mixes and great sounds from the show, this isn't it! Best bet is to get the season disks, burn your own compliation of your fave grooves and forget this CD. That's what I'm going to do.
One other complaint: each song has a jagged, jarring start to it; as if someone dropped the needle and hit the record button a second later-no clean pause or smooth lead-in on any song. I gave this 2 stars as the beats are decent, but my god! It could have been SO MUCH more!
