Free Music Review: An unexpected surprise!
Hit: 5 Stars

...which is a return to great sounding songs! REM came to this project obviously prepared and proved themselves worthy of praise for this return to form CD. I don't understand the few negative reviews that I've read. I guess you can't please everyone. "Monster is better than this CD"... that comment doesn't hold water. This CD is definitely better than Monster in so many ways. From my ears it's better than any of their CDs since "Automatic for the People". It's a fine listen and totally pleasurable from the start of the opening chord to the last note of the last song. I've played this over and over since it came out and am proud to have it on top of my play list. Big time kudos to REM for such a great recording. Thanks guys!!!!

Hit: 5 Stars

I have been watching these guys live for 27 years. Through the highs and lows, I always stuck with them. I knew they were among the best rock bands of all time, and I think they are the best live act PERIOD.
This album/tour proves me right. If you love R.E.M. buy this album and go see them if you can.
I bought it, then saw the 6/01 show in Berkeley.I haven't been able to get these songs out of my head!

Free Music Review: Yawn.
Hit: 2 Stars

First of all, I have to say that I love this band. Albums like Murmur, Reckoning, Life's Rich Pageant and Automatic for the People have to put REM in the top ten of late 20th century bands. They created the minor key driven genre that is alternative music today. No REM, no Wilco.

Having said that though, who knew that it all ended for REM with Automatic for the People? Everything these guys have put out since that album has struggled mightily to measure up to their earlier discography.

I do have to admit that Accelerate is a slight step in the right direction however. I'm not going to bother with a song-by-song description of this disc. Other reviewers have done a good job of that and doing so would be an even greater waste of time than listening to this album.

Free Music Review: Accelerated Rejuvenation
Hit: 5 Stars

R.E.M. are still going strong after all theses years, which is particularly good these days with bands breaking up all the time. It seemed like the band might have been at their end with the release of 2004's Around the Sun which was a somber and politically frustrated album, although they did have many songs written around world topics and political items, this album was a little different.

With this release they seem to turn up the amps differently, then they have before. They're louder and more in your face. Michael Stipe seems to push his vocals to the max with songs like "Man-Sized" and "Living Well Is The Best Revenge". I've always loved his creativity with lyrics, like when he screams, "I'd have thought by now we would be ready to proceed but a tearful hymn to tug the heart and a man-sized wreath-oh". The album is more in the up vibe, but it does slow down a bit on a couple songs like "Sing For The Submarine". This is R.E.M.'s heaviest album since Monster and it seems to me that they have rejuvenated themselves.

Free Music Review: Vocals and Vibes
Hit: 5 Stars

MS's vocals are right on.
The band's lyrics are right on.
The band's instrumentations are right on.
I'd have to say, with great simplicity:
THIS ALBUM IS RIGHT ON.
Good going.
REM fans are in for a treat.
