Free Music Notes for Accelerate

Free Music Review: Best album of the year so far.
Hit: 5 Stars

Love this album. It rocks hard for the most part (Living Well Is The Best Revenge, Man-Sized Wreath, Accelerate, Horse To Water, I'm Gonna DJ), but also includes a couple classic R.E.M. style folk rockers (Houston, Until The Day Is Done). They held rehearsals for most of these songs in Dublin, Ireland. In front of great fans who never turned there back on R.E.M. when they released Up, Reveal and Around the Sun. Up, by the way is a great album and if you don't have it yet, you must get it. That said, those of you who gave up on them will once again fall in love with these great songs. Yeah, it's not Automatic For the People, so if you don't like to rock, I would suggest at least downloading Supernatural Superserious, Hollow Man, Houston, Until The Day Is Done, Mr. Richards and Sing For The Submarine.

Free Music Review: After a long hiatus, R.E.M. is back and rocking
Hit: 5 Stars

Every artist needs a little time away from the spotlight so they can take a breath and prepare themselves to make a great and worthy comeback. This is what these three fine young men from Athens, GA did and the final product they delivered after a hiatus of four years couldn't be better. "Accelerate" is a subtle mix of old school R.E.M. from the IRS years to the mainstream appeal from Warner Bros. years. The CD-only version is relatively short (running 35 minutes or so only) and has great tunes. Michael's singing style is more passionate than ever. The band still plays consistently and vigorously. This is a top release for the Alternative Rock genre this year. Yes, they're mainstream for a while, but still makes alternative sound. Thanks God.

Free Music Review: Best REM since Hi-Fi, or maybe Automatic
Hit: 5 Stars

If you like early 90's and 80's REM, this CD is the one for you.

I have listened to Accelerate three times in as many days.... each time I listen to it, I like it more.
Sounds from New Adventures in Hi-Fi, Automatic FTP, and even Fables of The Reconstrucion run through this album. This is a true follow-up to the New Adventures CD.
Listen to the samples - if you like them, and appreciate REM from the 80's and 90's, you will not be disapointed in purchasing Accelerate.

Interesting is that I can't find a true "single" on this album... no "Stand", or "Man On The Moon" or "End of the World....". Frankly, I like it that way. Hit singles are overrated (though hit singles get downloaded more on I-Tunes...)

Free Music Review: An unexpected surprise!
Hit: 5 Stars

...which is a return to great sounding songs! REM came to this project obviously prepared and proved themselves worthy of praise for this return to form CD. I don't understand the few negative reviews that I've read. I guess you can't please everyone. "Monster is better than this CD"... that comment doesn't hold water. This CD is definitely better than Monster in so many ways. From my ears it's better than any of their CDs since "Automatic for the People". It's a fine listen and totally pleasurable from the start of the opening chord to the last note of the last song. I've played this over and over since it came out and am proud to have it on top of my play list. Big time kudos to REM for such a great recording. Thanks guys!!!!

Free Music Review: He's Alive, He's Alive.....
Hit: 5 Stars

OMG, Mr Richards is one of the BEST R.E.M. songs I've ever heard. Easily, that 1 song is worth the entire purchase of the album.

Until The Day Is Done is the 2nd BEST R.E.M song I've ever heard and I've been an R.E.M fan since the first day I hear Can't Get There From Here back in 1982 or '83 whenever that came out.

Other standouts on Accelerate are Supernatural Superserious, Man Sized Wreath, Accelerate, Living Well Is The Best Revenge.....what am I doing.....?

EVERY SONG is great on this album. What a COMEBACK record! This could be the comeback album of the 21st Century.

I'm going to see R.E.M. in June and they better play Mr Richards and Texarkana and Flowers of Guatemala!!
