I have seen this album get blasted by critics and R.E.M fans alike (mostly by the newer R.E.M. fans who like stuff such as "Monster"). I can't for the life of me figure out where their heads are at!! I think this is definitely one of R.E.M.'s very best albums. I guess if you prefer their more straight-ahead rock sound to the earlier jangly sound, then this album won't be your cup of tea. But with "Driver 8," "Green Grow The Rushes," "Wendell Gee," and all the others, you'd be missing out on a gem.
