R.E.M., one of the greatest bands in history have finally released their greatest hits compilation. I am rejoicing in the splendour of this great album, I'm not implying anything religious when I say that. The fact is R.E.M.'s music is so unique and honest, whether it be Stipe's voice or their lyrics every song they seem to write screams with musical honesty.
At the release of this album R.E.M. had been around for 15 years, now in 2005 that makes it 17. This collection is the huge culmination of 15 years work. From small town kids from Athens, Georgia to worldwide megastars R.E.M. have surely come a long way.
This album proves their everlasting appeal and talent. R.E.M. have created timeless classics that with this album you can listen to over and over again. From Man On The Moon to Nightswimming no song is left behind, this really is the complete R.E.M. hits collection.
Hopefully R.E.M. last another 17 years so that they can continue to create deep music that has poignant meaning and expressive truth. If they don't last that long you will always have this.
Free Music Review: Useable item v. hassle of returns

The CD arrived and appeared to be a manufacturer irregular. It was like two discs glued together so it was too fat to play in my player. When I pried the two apart, I realized that that's exactly what had happened--two cd's were glued together. Because of the glue, one wasn't playable. The other could only read some of the tracks. I bought the disc for two songs, so I kept in only because the return process would have taken too much effort.Free Music Review: Best of REM '88 to '03

I have always been a fan of REM, and this CD had a track on it that was particularly meaningful for me, as I first heard it one desperate day when I was seriously contemplating suicide. The track was "Everybody Hurts"....and for me at that time, it said it all.
The other tracks are up to the usual high standard of muscianship of this group.....in a word, AWESOME!!

Put this CD on and play from start to finish. The disc features all of the popular hits played on the radio and many "hits" that are reallly more like the best of the best from their many releases.
