Free Music Notes for Airbag/How Am I Driving? [EP] [Limited Edition]

Free Music Review: Beautiful stuff.
Hit: 5 Stars

Oooh boy. I like that Airbag song, with all those silly electronic noise-ish stuff. And then Pearly*, which sounds like Bends-ish material. Meeting in the Aisle is sorta cheap, being an instrumental 'n all, but it still has that Radiohead-ish thing goin' on, even without lyrics. A Reminder is the greatest song ever written, especially since it has that airport-ish noise at the start and the "once I was free, once I was cool, once I was me" stuff. Polyethylene [parts 1 & 2] is the second greatest song ever written, with a nice intermission in the middle with Thom saying, "ONE, TWO, THREE, four" and then continuing on with the second part of the song, which includes the line "there is no significant risk to your health." Then comes along Melatonin, a beautiful operatic, desperate song. Finally, Palo Alto, easily the weakest song on the CD, with completely non-OK Computer lyrics. It reminds me of a mature revisit to dear Pablo. Overall, very beautiful stuff.

Free Music Review: some of the radiohead's best
Hit: 5 Stars

Some people like to call this OK Computer material, but I find it takes an at least slightly different vibe. "Pearly", "Polyethaline..." and "A Reminder" are some of my favorite Radiohead songs ever. I love the unprofessional and nostalgic feel of this CD.
I wonder why Radiohead has so many great songs (including "Bishop's Robes", "Lift" and the songs I mentioned above) that are not on their main albums while their latest albumns, Kid A and Amnesiac, contain a lot of mediocre material (unlike OK Computer and The Bends).
Unlike a lot of the other reviewers, I don't particularly like "Palo Alto". "Meeting in the..." has a dark feel and is one of the only (would you count "Treefingers"?) Radiohead instrumentals. "Melatonin" is good also.
You should definately try to find a copy of this CD if you are a fan of OK Computer or newer Radiohead songs such as "Pyramid Song".

Free Music Review: Must have for any serious fan.
Hit: 5 Stars

The people that commented that this EP was "slow" and that Meeting in the Aisles was boring seriously need to get their heads examined. This is a great EP and has some wonderful b-sides. Fans of Radiohead's older stuff who are just discovering this EP now will be especially pleased. Meeting in the Aisle is an absolutely gorgeous piece of instrumental music. It's perfect for driving late at night, great mood music, if you will. Pearly* has become a bit of a staple during their current 2001 North American tour. I was surprised to hear it at the Tornoto concert, and it's been showing up on other setlists from this tour. Palo Alto is one of my favorite b-sides and is the type of song that begs to be played LOUD. This is a very strong collection of songs, and it's difficult to find some of them elsewhere. It's definately worth the [money].

Free Music Review: Pure brilliance...but what did you expect?
Hit: 5 Stars

Why this disc was ignored by most major publications, I'm not sure. It is a fantastic journey into sound; equally as strong on the fiftieth listen as on the first. The percussive lullabye "Melatonin" seems a companion to OK COMPUTER's "Climbing Up The Walls." "A Reminder" makes some of the most daring statements about age since Pulp's "Help the Aged." "Polyetheline" and "Pearly" are flat-out rock, though the latter begins with a stunningly beautiful acoustic intro and the former some of the most astounding guitar work since "Just." And don't get me started on "Airbag" or the punkish "Palo Alto;" they are too brilliant for words. Like any other given Radiohead disc, this ranks as must-have music...do not pass it up.

Free Music Review: It's proved a timeless companion...
Hit: 5 Stars

I've had this album for many years and it never fails to amaze me at how instantly it hits me on a far deeper level than simply listening to it. I know that sounds tremendously cliche and contrived however I've often felt that had I chosen a soundtrack to play in the background to my life, this would be it.

I spent one summer reading "The Stand" by Stephen King, although I am hardly a Stephen King fan with this playing in the background for the duration of the 1000 odd pages. On its own I don't think "The Stand" would have felt or had the same effect on my experience.

Eerie, echoey, sonic feedback received on some long lost tranceiver on the edge of some remote jungle heard by people who have never quite experienced music....
