I remember many of these songs from my own childhood! My two month old son is pretty fussy starting around 6:00pm. Nothing seemed to work to get him to calm down. Finally my husband and I decided to get on youtube to play a couple of Raffi songs for him since I remembered liking them. It worked!!! And the best part is we received this CD the next day as a present for him! He only liked the first two songs at first but he's slowly listening to all of them. I bought this as a cassette when my first son was born 17 years ago! I now have 4 children (ages 17-9) and have used this cd with all of them. We still love the songs! We have many fond memories attached to this music, hearing any of the songs brings them flooding back. I am now going to be a "great aunt" and have purchased this cd for my niece and plan to play it for my new niece when she arrives. It is full of fun and playful songs that are catchy yet short. I first started singing along with Raffi as a big sister some 20 years ago. Now, as a parent myself, I am singing his songs to my own child... witnessing the same excitement.I've given his tapes/CDs as gifts time and time again always with excellent results.
They are timeless and beautiful songs, sung by a wonderful voice and the only childrens tapes I never grew sick of listening to over and over again.
My mum still has the original, much loved tapes at home...

The only non-5 star review said Raffi's voice annoyed him. Who cares? Did he buy it for himself? I don't think it matters what I think of the music (would I listen to it if I didn't have a kid?? No!). The proof is in how kids respond, and they apparently do.I played all types of MY music for my 11 month old. He didn't respond to any of it. To this CD, he responded plenty. He absolutely loves it.
Also, it's not as annoying as you might think.

I grew up listening to Raffi, so my mother naturally bought this CD for my 7 month old son, when he was 4 months old. The CD is a lot of fun to sing to, and when he's fussy all I need to do is sing the first line of "The More We Get Together", "Five Little Frogs", or "Aikendrum" and he smiles right away and cheers up. I'd recommend it for parents who are looking for fun and simple songs to sing to their children.
