Free Music Notes for Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981 Film)

Free Music Review: Worth more than any amount of money

I just happened to luck out and find this gem that was obviously misplaced in a huge store over time. This is the CD version from the master tapes and has a ton of music not on the LP which I bought 17 years ago. The sound is superior to ANYTHING John Williams has ever done (I know, I have most every soundtrack he's done.) There are 19 tracks (74 total minutes) which are all excellent, but my favorites are "the Desert Chase", the "German Sub/To the Nazi Hideout", and "The Warehouse" which recall three of the greatest moments of the movie. I now realize what a steal this was judging by the number of people who've asked me to sell it. If you ever see one, PAY WHATEVER! I would never sell this. Hopefully they'll re-issue it on the 25th anniversary of the film for you soundtrack hunters. It also includes a cool booklet with liner notes, photos, & sketches!

Free Music Review: The Map Room: Dawn - William's FINEST moment!!!

The sequence in which Indy uses the medallion to find the ark is one of the most hair-raising, chill inducing, powerful, moving, fantastically awesome pieces of classical music in AND OUT of the cinema!!

The rest of the soundtrack is, of course, fantastic as well. But no single piece of music (save perhaps for the Stokowski orchestration of Debussy's SUNKEN CATHEDRAL) gets me as much as this one track from the Raiders soundtrack - it's worth any price! Sadly, you cannot hear the climatic moment in this Amazon clip - but trust me, it'll knock you down! The ark theme - three simple notes repeated - yet SO fantastic . . . Williams is pure genius!!

I think Williams has become so much the voice of both Spielberg and Lucas at the movies that, once he retires or dies, these two directors may as well throw in the towell as well!

Free Music Review: Perfect, simply perfect.

I have always been a great fan of John Williams and his music, but my opinion on his music was always mostly based on just Star Wars Trilogy's music (and some Jurassic Park). I then decided to order Raiders of the Lost Ark soundtrack, and I'm glad I did.

This CD is simply perfect. After viewing the movie this CD brings back all the plot twists and situations from the film. The music is soothing at times, fast-paced at times, silent when silence is needed. The use of leif-motif is visible on this record as Indy's, Marion's, Ark's, Medallion's and other themes are weaved together into one huge musical cloth.

Words aren't enough to describe this music. When I thought Star Wars was inch away from perfection, I was wrong. This record wents mile beyond what Star Wars achieved. God bless John Williams!

Free Music Review: It will be hard to beat this one.

This is my favorite CD, and I highly reccomend it. What I think is the theme that really holds this soundtrack together is the ark theme. It is very atmospheric, creepy and interesting. In the movie there is a big popularity over the ark, but Indiana Jones is probably the only one to realize that it could be dangerous and this theme perfectly defines how mysterious this object is. The moral of this movie is leave God alone, and in the end of the movie you'll see why. Now I'm talking about the new digitally remastered version that is really good and I found out that most of the tracks were previously unreleased and I don't know how this soundtrack could be a soundtrack without those tracksDesert Chase has the best chase scene music ever. If you like John Williams, take my advice.

Free Music Review: A Great Buy!

The other day while looking through a regular cd store I found this cd for $9.99. I couldn't believe it! I had bought the LP for my collection about 6 months ago because the price was so high on amazon. My girlfriend didn't care as much as I could, but I couldn't believe that a store (that should know what they had) could let an extended cut of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" through their fingers for that little.
What a great cd! Of course you can hardly get passed the idea that "Marion's Theme" sounds a lot like a certain theme from Star Wars (I'll leave that to the fans). The Raiders March just keeps you going through the cd... I don't think I could ever be disappointed in the themes John Williams comes up with in his mind. Again, a worth-while cd for anyone's collection!
