Free Music Review: Rainbow Remastered.....Oh yea!
Hit: 5 Stars

"Rainbow Rising". Just mention this album to true Rainbow fans and 95% of them will say one thing. "THE best Rainbow album ever!" I totaly agree. (Well, actualy "Blackmore's Rainbow" comes close for me also). I have owned this album on cassette and CD. When I found out about the "remastered" Rainbow albums, I just had to go and get them. Is it worth it to get the "Remastered" version? YES! Suha Gur did an excellent job on the remastering on this classic. Ronnie James Dio's vocals jump out and grab you by the throat. Ritchie Blackmore's guitar crunches on. Tony Carey's keyboards sound great to the highest note, while Jimmy Bain's bass and Cozy Powell's drums will slam you back so hard it almost causes whiplash. Not to mention the job done on the CD cover. If there was one thing I would have to complain about this album it is this, there is about 10 seconds of the keyboard opening to "Tarot Woman" taken back out. (Just like on the cassette version). While it was in the first CD version, (Polydor 823 655-2 Y-1). But other than that, this is a definate must have for the true Rainbow fan. A toast! A cheer! Long Live Rock and Roll! Catch the Rainbow!

Free Music Review: Rainbow's Best Studio Album
Hit: 5 Stars

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best studio album that Rainbow ever made. It featured the second, classic Rainbow lineup with guitar hero, Ritchie Blackmore, super-talented singer/songwriter Ronnie James Dio, drummer Cozy Powell, bassist Jimmy Bain, and keyboardist Tony Carey. While the following "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" album with Blackmore, Dio, Powell, Daisley, and Stone was also very good, I think this album is better.

What really makes it an outstanding album is the pair of related songs, "Stargazer" and "A Light in the Black" each of which clocks in at over 8 minutes, even in these studio versions. They're related because the narrator in the second song is clearly one of the freed slaves who helped build the tower for the stargazer in the first song. Taken together, these two songs form one of the great epics of 1970s progressive rock. In my book, they rank up there with Rush's 2112 and Hemispheres. While the other songs on this album are also good, it is these two songs that really make this album special.

This is the album when Rainbow rose to greatness. And they knew it. It also has a beautiful and distinctive painting on the cover, one of my favorites from any rock album.

Free Music Review: The Begining of Power Metal.
Hit: 5 Stars

From the amazing album cover to the excellnt music to the brilliant production, this is the 1st power metal album. Ronnie James Dio's brilliant as always, and Ritchie Blackmore's solos really wail. Jimmy Bain's bass is really reconizable, and Cozy Powell...man. WOW! No one gives this credit. Is that double-bass I hear? Excellent drummer. And Tony Carey's solos are incredible. No a song by song review:

1.Tarot Woman-Execellent intro done by Tony. Echo and weird braah sounds coming from the keyboards. Then the band kicks in to a power metal classic. Perfect and hypnotizing. 5/5

2.Run With The Wolf-Good bluesy song. Great singing by Dio. 5/5

3.Starstruck-One of my favorites, even though it sounds too much like Deep Purple. Weird lyrics. 4/5

4.Do You Close Your Eyes-Just filler. Skip it. No solo. 2/5

5.Stargazer-NOW THE ALBUM REALLY GTS GOING! Perfect orchestra, solos, singing, and drum intro. Espiecially the 2 minute ending. It can make you cry. It's that good. 10/10

6.Light In The Black-Not enough distortion in the begining, but the singing and fast pace make it great. Check out the 3 minute blazing solos. Cool. 5/5

This is a great album. End of story. There should be a reunion. Highly reccomended.

Free Music Review: What more needs to be said? THE BEST!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I think the existing reviews pretty much say it all but I would like to add the following -

Not only is Rising the best Rainbow album, I think it is the single best example of Ritchie Blackmore that exists. Even more so than any Deep Purple release where, no matter how dominant Blackmore was, he still had to conform a little to his bandmates. After all, Deep Purple was a BAND, Rainbow was Blackmore's project.

The only problems I have are actually what happened after this album was released....the fact that he apparently stopped playing the magnificent 2nd side (Stargazer & A Light In The Black) because I have never heard recorded live versions of either and this tour was the only one I remember them being played at all!!

And, more importantly.....WHY did he push Rainbow more and more into pop-rock after Dio left!! By "Straight Between The Eyes" it was hard to recognize as the same band. Was rock star lite Joe Lynn Turner REALLY that much of an influence?? Apparently so.

In my humble opinion Blackmore should just have left well enough alone because I also happen to consider this one of the 10 GREATEST hard rock albums EVER recorded!! 'Nuff said!!

Free Music Review: Best album ever
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the best album ever. Rainbow gets heavier and faster on this album and just improve overall. Dio's vocals are out of this world and Blackmore's guitar playing is incredible. Every song on the album is a masterpeice. Tarot Woman is a fast power metal fantasy song, Run With The Wolf is a slower fantasy song, Starstruck is a fast neo classical song, Do You Close Your Eyes is a radio friendly rock song with a catchy riff and catchy chorus, Stargazer is an epic, power metal, neo classical metal masterpeice and the best song I've ever heard, A Light In Tbe Black is another epic power metal song which continues the Stargazer story execpt much faster this time, there are 2 long solos one is a keyboard solo and one is a guitar solo. Stargazer is the best song I've ever heard and the rest are classics aswell. Every musician on this album contributes there best performances ever on this album. This is by far the best album I've ever heard. Fans of Rainbow, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Elf, Dio, Stratovarius, yngwie Malmsteen, Hammerfall and metal and rock in general will love this as you can see from the other reviews.
