Can someone tell me why Rainbow isn't as well known or respected as Zeppelin? Or Sabbath for that matter? Zeppelin kinda hogged all the spotlight for 70s hard rock and left some other great groups without their due credit. Uriah Heep, Blue Oyster Cult and Thin Lizzy to name a few. Sure, Ritchie Blackmore and Rainbow are considered to be be classics in the critics' eyes, but who of the younger generation has even heard of Rainbow? There are some, but not many. The only people I run into who know about them are folks my parents' age who were youngsters during Rainbow's prime. Well folks, instead of adding Houses Of The Holy to your collection, why don't you pick up Rising instead. You won't regret it, coz this is a killer album. Not a wasted second. Ritchie Blackmore really got the green weenie, he should be higher up on the guitar players list than he is. Go ahead and crucify me, but the man's a better player than Jimmy Page. Don't take my word for it, listen to the album coz the guitar playing speaks for itself. So, if you have any love for 70s hard rock, you'd "better lay your money dooooown." and get Rising.
Free Music Review: One of the best albums ever made Hit: 5 Stars
Rainbow Rising was the first Rainbow album I ever got, and this album along with the debut "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" are both pretty good places to start if you're new to the band. When I first listened to this album, I just couldn't get enough of these guys because it was great. Ronnie James Dio has awesome vocals, Jimmy Bain has great bass lines you CAN hear, Cozy Powell's drumming is great, Tony Carey's keyboardwork is just awesome, and of course there's those great guitar riffs and awesome solos from Ritchie Blackmore. The album kicks off with "Tarot Women" which starts with an awesome keyboard intro from Tony Carey, and then Ritchie's trademark riffs begin to kicks in to make this song a classic opener. Other great songs include the epic "Stargazer", "Starstruck", and my personal favorite "A Light In The Black". Hey every song on here is great. A must have for any Rainbow fan, buy it now.

Free Music Review: LONG LIVE RITCHIE AND RONNIE! Hit: 5 Stars
This is my favorite rainbow album. Ronnie James Dio is my favorite singer and this is together with Holy Diver the best album he has worked on. I think this is also the best album were Ritchie Blackmore has ever worked on. Below you see how I rate the songs of this masterpiece:
Tarot Woman(10/10) - Good opener, great vocals and guitar.
Run With The Wolf(10/10) - good song
Startruck(10/10) - nothing special to say about this one.
Do you close your eyes(8/10) - This is a good song, but all the others on this album are better.
Stargazer(11/10) - I my view, this is the best song were Ronnie has ever worked on. Maybe it's even the best song I ever heard. It is surely the song with the best vocals on it. Ronnie sings so fantastic on this song, when I hear this song I always get a very good feeling somehow.
Light At The Black(10/10) - I really love the instrumental part of this one, great keyboardsolo and guitarsolo, and ofcource Ronnie sings great on it.
So buy this album if you like rock/hardrock/metal.
Free Music Review: Get it!. Hit: 5 Stars
If you like Deep Purple then your gonna love this, Rainbow returned better than ever with their second album its like they hit a home run or something. This album is just phenomenal and Ritchie Blackmore is at his best coming up with insane solos, Ritchie replaced the others after the first album except for singer Ronnie James Dio so the new lineup really played well together as you could tell they were all in top form. The first track Tarot woman begins with its great keyboard playing by Tony Carey which becomes very prominant then the second song starts Run with the wolf with its technical guitar playing skills and baselines. All the songs in particular are excellent and there is not a single bad track but the standout track in my opinion is Stargazer, this is the song which you want to introduce to someone who hasen't heard any Rainbow before as it will definetely blow them away, one of the best classic rock songs of all time. You could buy this or forever remain a loser while listening to Paris Hilton, Ashley Simpson or Britney Spears its your choice......
Free Music Review: '70s hard rocker Hit: 5 Stars
This album just rocks, plain and simple. This album represents when Rainbow were at their creative best. Back in 1976 Ronnie James Dio was the lead singer of Rainbow. In my opinion, he has one of the best voices of all hard rock and heavy metal singers, right behind Robert Plant, Rob Halford, and Bruce Dickinson. This album also features Cozy Powell on drums, Tony Carey on keyboards, Jimmy Bain on bass, and of course Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. This album has a lot of spaced-out sounding keyboard mixed with heavy guitar. The album opens with a long keyboard passage on Tarot Woman. Rainbow has always had a unique sound for a hard rock band, similar to Deep Purple (which is no surprise), but especially on this album. The best track by far on this album is Stargazer, followed by Light In The Black. Stargazer just plain rocks and has great fantasy lyrics. If you've never gotten into Rainbow before and want to give them a listen, start with this album. The Dio era was by far the best time of this band's existence. Buy this. You won't be disappointed.
