Free Music Review: Finally a new Rakim album - 4.5 stars

Go back 20+ years when Rakim, along with Eric B., revolutionized the way rhymes were delivered, it was the late 80's and hip-hop was mainly an underground thing just starting to get big. Over the late 80's & early 90's the duo put out 4 albums then had a falling out, in late 90's Rakim dropped 2 albums without Eric B ("The 18th Letter" - 1997, 4.5 stars; and "The Master" - 1999, 4 stars). That was 10 years ago since Ra dropped an album and this one finally gets released after years of pushbacks and setbacks (heard about this album at elast 4 years ago supposed to be coming out on Aftermath). This one is worth the 10 year wait (though it was WAY too long for a great like Rakim). With 14 songs, you get 2 Classics, and the other 12 are good, mostly real good songs. Guests are on 7 songs, but just rapping on 1 the rest just handle the hook. Production is nice as well. Nick Wiz does 4 songs, J Wells, Slyce, Robert Cray Band, Needlz, Y-Not, Nottz, Jake One, Neo da Matrix, Lofey and Poppa Pill each do 1. As he always has the last 20+ years, his flow and delivery haven't lost a step and this is a must have album from a legend.
