Free Music Review: My favorite band EVER!
Hit: 5 Stars

I first got introduced to Rammstein through Du Hast like many other people, however it wasn't until this year that I actually gave them a chance...and boy do I regret not doing this sooner. At the beginning when I first heard Du Hast played I liked it for how different it was, but I never really thought it was something I would like to buy because of the German language and me not knowing what it all meant.Over summer I had watched CKY2K and had once again been re-introduced to Du Hast and liked it a lot, myself being more mature and more about music. So I bought Sehnsucht. Only I wasn't quite ready to handle the whole cd and only repeatedly listened to Du Hast...call me crazy. But, my friend lent his Mutter cd to my sister over the past summer and when I first heard it in the car on the way to my step mothers work, I was blown away. The beginning of Mein Herz Brennt just totally surprised me and I was just so amazed. It was to me, just so beautiful. I had to give Sehnsucht a full on chance. And when I did, I found that I really loved this album as well. Even in its electronic glory, Sehnsucht was just as good and beautiful as Mutter. I was instantly hooked and now listen to nothing but Rammstein. Reise Reise, just coming out, really was a shock...the year I decide to become a hardcore fan, they have a new cd out...and to me that was a treat because I just got blown away by all of their music at once instead of waiting three years for a new release. Reise Reise is a great album, and many say that it is the best or that they were dissappointed. I agree with neither really. I was a tiny bit dissappointed in the fact that it wasn't as unique as the other albums, however, I really love the album. Dalai Lama, Keine Lust, Los, and Stein um Stein, however were not appealing to me at first. But as a matter of fact they are some of my favorites of the album now. But don't mistake, this album is no better than Mutter or Sehnsucht was, though it is an excellent album.

Shortly after I bought Reise Reise, I got Lichtspielhaus, and fell in love with it. I watch it everyday, seeing as it provides me confort when I am depressed and angry. The shows, the videos, the documentary stuff, its all just so amazing, they are just so frigin awesome. I heard Du Reichst so gut, and instantly loved it. Then in the live shows I fell in love with Heirate Mich, Asche zu Asche, Rammstein, Seemann and Herzeleid. I have heard about 7 songs of the 11 on Herzeleid and now know that I MUST get this cd...not only were they just as amazing at the beginning, but they managed to be able to have the same initial sound yet very different albums all the way through their 10 year career! They are geniuses and I can't wait to see what else they have coming. To me they are the best band that exists! If you don't already have the albums and dvds then you should DEFINATELY check them out!!! And like someone else who posted, if I could I would give them 10 or more stars!!!!

Free Music Review: HERZELEID - Best Rammstein Album!
Hit: 5 Stars

This was the first Rammstein album I heard and to this day it remains my favourite. I don't know why, I mean Mutter has more good songs, but for some reason I like Herzeleid better. This is a brilliant album! I think part of the reason why i like Rammstein so much is because Till sings in German, except he doesn't actually sing, it's more like he spits the words out one by one and puts equal anger and contempt into each word. And the best thing is it doesn't sound like crap, like Pete Steele from Type O Negative does along with countless other bands.

Here's my rating of each song:

Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen - 5/5
Probably the best opener this album could have, if you know what I mean. The riff could have gotten repetitive, but they broke it up with a bridge (and when Till says "schlacht" it sounds like he's trying to swallow his tongue).

Der Meister - 5/5
Fast and catchy riff with a kind of floating chorus. This is lots of people's favourite song on this album, but it's not mine.

Weisses Fleisch - 5/5
THIS is my favourite song. Really fast with keyboard synth sounds, then sudden explosions of crunching guitars, then back to synth, and that's just in the verses... Great headbanging song!

Asche Zu Asche - 5/5
The first optimistic sounding song. It's not depressing unless you read the translated lyrics. The chorus makes you tap your foot.

Seemann - 4.5/5
I know everyone loves this song, but I don't like it as much PURELY BECAUSE it's a ballad. I just don't like ballads. If it was heavier it would get a 5/5.

Du Riechst So Gut - 4/5
Cool song but i'm not sure why it was the first single. Another synth-driven song with screeching guitars.

Das Alte Leid - 2/5
Not so good. The verses are boring and the chorus has a repetitive riff that just gets old.

Heirate Mich - 4.5/5
I love the bells in this song. It's got a medium paced riff but the strength of this song lies in its haunting feel. It's so eerie and creepy.

Herzeleid - 3.5/5
Don't know why the album was named after this song. Not the best. It's just Till saying the words one syllable at a time, then a boring chorus. Better than Das Alte Leid though.

Laichzeit - 5/5
I LOVE this song! It's really weird (especially when you read the lyrics - "fishmilk everywhere", "he loves his dog") but the synth melody and creepy feel just get me bopping my head every time.

Rammstein - 4.5/5
Solid closer. I love the lyrics how they show the chaos and confusion, then say "The sun is shining" even though there is so much death below. It's about the air crash at Ramstein if you didn't already know...
Rammstein
A man is burning
Rammstein
The smell of flesh lies in the air
Rammstein
A child is dying
Rammstein
The sun is shining

Free Music Review: Rammstein's Blistering Metal Debut...
Hit: 5 Stars

Rammstein has made a name for themselves in metal. They are one of the few metal groups who have been consistent with putting out stellar albums since their debut, HERZELEID. Rammstein first got together in the early 90s, and word is that due to this formation, their wives and girlfriends left them and this inspired the creation of this massive metal monster. Rammstein employ the use of massive, crunchy guitars, pummeling rhythms, crisp keyboard flourishes, and the most threatening vocalist in Till Lindemann. The way he rolls his 'r's and sings his German phrases should give you reason enough to shiver. Guitarists Richard Kruspe and Paul Landers slice monstrous riffs through the pulsing rhythm section of bassist Oliver Riedel and drummer Christoph Schneider, all the while keyboardist Doktor "Christian" Lorenz provides bleeps and blips to flourish these metal nuggets. It all comes together to make one hell of a debut album.

"Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen" ("Do You Want To See The Bed In Flames") kickstarts the album off with a sinister keyboard intro before bursting into a full-on wall-of-guitars and crushing rhythms, while Lindemann threatens his prey. "Der Meister" ("The Master") continues the onslaught, with an apocalyptic vision, and "Weisses Fleisch" ("White Flesh") hits you head on with its shards of metal guitar and pounding drums, and accounts a dark tale of sex. "Seamann" ("Sailor") briefly escapes the metal crunch, but its lulling intro and verses are offset by an explosive and anthemic chorus. Lindemann really proves himself well on all these tracks, and he's a definite first-rate metal singer.

Other tracks that hit hard include the groove-oriented crunch of "Du Reichst So Gut" ("You Smell So Good"); the slow stomp of the massive "Das Alte Leid" ("The Old Pain"); the dark tale of yearning to marry a dead corpse in "Heirate Mich" ("Marry Me"); and, of course, "Rammstein", which was featured on the sinister Lost Highway soundtrack, and really exposed Rammstein to an audience (the video for this track will blow your mind). The title track, (translation "Heartache"), also blends hard-hitting guitars with pleading but impassioned vocals. Rammstein truly make a headbanger's dream come true all over this debut.

So while subsequent releases like SEHNSUCHT brought them further exposure, Rammstein have always proven themselves to be excellent musicians and, along with their insane live shows (yes, Lindemann really sets himself on fire and it's completely crazy!), they prove to be very entertaining in more ways than one. If you're a fan of harder rock, I highly recommend that you immerse yourself in the top-notch metallic monster that HERZELEID breathes life into...and you'll be banging your head to this pulverizing collection.

Free Music Review: Good debut
Hit: 5 Stars

For a first album, this CD is very solid. We open up with Wollt Ihr Das Bett in Flammen Sehen? which serves to introduce the theme of the album, heartbreak, as well as the band itself, with the croud roaring at the end and the chant of "Rammstein!" The music itself is solid, with samples from the original Doom videogame mixed into 2 good, yet repetitive, riffs. We follow with the frantic riff of "Der Meister" which is about destruction, has 2 frantic riffs, and an awesome chorus in which the key suddenly switches to major. Following this is a song about longing and sex, Weisses Fleisch, which features a good guitar solo, and even more frantic riff, and use of electronic vocal effects, which follows with the similar "Asche zu Asche" which seems to be about some evil form of Jesus (Ich komm Wieder in zehn tagen) (I will return in 10 years) and has a great, yet repetitive riff.
The album finally calms down a bit with the slow, mournful "Seemann," which is simply beautiful. The electronic chirping in the background adds another element of beauty to it, and the lyrics are mournful- (Am ende bleib ich doch alleine) (In the end I am left alone). Of course, this is all to be kicked up again with the obsessive, pounding, and simply awesome "Du Riechst So Gut," a song about a stalker, and obsession. The riff is great, and Till's vocals really shine in this song. Plus this song is very driving. This is followed by the slower "Das Alte Leid," about the end of the old sorrow, which is an awesome song, or rather would be if it weren't so dragged out. Shave off a minute or so and this would be a great song. As it is though, it's pretty weak. Of course we are saved from this by the story of a man who lost his lover, "Heirate Mich," which explores necrophilia, and has a great riff with great vocals. Of course, this has to be followed, and is, by a song about preventing heartbreak, called "Herzeleid," which is a bit repetitive, but awesome, and says that if you don't want heartbreak, don't get involved with anyone. The lyrics are short and recited very slowly. Following this is the odd "Laichzeit," with interesting keyboards, but nothing remarkable. They go out with another announcement, reminding you who the album isdone by, and remembering a tragedy, in their self-titled track "Rammstein," which is chilling, frantic, and slow, all at once.

Overall this is a great album, the highlights being "Der Meister" and "Du Riechst so Gut."

Oh and the person who gave the one-star review, listen to the album first then review it. Who knows? you might like it if you get past your bias against these guys.

Free Music Review: Truly Great Album by Truly Great Band
Hit: 5 Stars

As a Rammstein newbie, I was excellently surprised to hear an album of such a stature as an introduction to the band after being told that they were "nothing more than a joke band" and "what metalheads flock to when Marilyn Manson becomes too tame". These comments were sickeningly unjust, especially considering that unlike Manson, this band actually had talent within songwriting and music. The songs are all great: The best would have to be the untouchable metal classic "Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen Sehen (Do You Want to See the Bed in Flames?)", perhaps the greatest Rammstein song ever. Do you want to hear how powerful Rammstein can be musically? The listen to this song. "Seeman" is almost as great, as it shows that the band's music can be just as strong emotionally as it is literally. Another renowned piece is "Du Reichst so Gut" (literally "You Smell so Good") a tale about a stalker with an incredible chorus and some delightful progressive-rock touches. "Asche zu Asche" is another stellar metal piece, progressive, angry and exceedingly entertaining, as is "Laichzeit" with its killer da-da-dat da-da-dat dut dut dat dut riff. "Das Alte Leid", a song commonly dismissed as mediocre amongst Rammstein fans, is a highly underrated slow, emotionally charged rocker, one of my favorites. "Wesses Fleisch" is yet another classic, extremely loud and incredibly ranchy, with perhaps the catchiest chorus on the album (yes, even if you don't speak German). "Heirate Mich" is, like "Das Alte Leid", a criminally overlooked Rammstein piece, similar in style to the latter. This is one of my favorites on the album; everything just flows so well. The sing-along "Herzeleid", while simple, is another classic and a great metal workout. The two weakest tracks are "Rammstein", which is good, Zeppelin-esque metal/sludge, but doesn't really match the quality of the rest of the songs, and the melodic "Der Meister", which is pretty forgettable and simple, though it's got a great chorus. All in all, no matter where one's tastes fall, this is remarkable stuff, and anyone who appreciates music or metal should own this. By the way, I don't quite own "Sehnsucht", "Live from Berlin", or "Mutter" quite yet, but I am eager to see whether they live up to Herzeleid and will post my comments on them as soon as possible.
