Free Music Review: A hoot!
Hit: 5 Stars

As any fan would tell you, Rammstein's live shows are mayhem extravaganzas, so releasing a live DVD would be a lot of fun. But a live C.D. isn't necessarily as good of an idea, because the listener can't see Rammstein's exciting shenanigans (fire explosions, sexual props, etc). Fortunately, "Live Aus Berlin" (which is this industrial metal band's fourth release, and their first live album) rocks! Strong, usually churning guitars, atmospheric keyboards, and snarly vocals make for many of the songs (i.e. "Asche Zu Asche") sound tailor made for headbanging, and these songs are delivered as effectively as when they were recorded in the studio. The crowd noise is kept to a very bearable minimum, and the German concert attendees actually seem to help to boost Rammstein's morale. The band members seemingly build off of the crowd's mounting energy on songs like "Weisses Fleisch," and when singer Til Lindemann trades of vocal parts with the crowd (in songs like track four), it doesn't kill the song's momentum. Rammstein open the show with "Spiel Mit Mir," a very creepy, crunchy and ominous number, but most of the rest of the album is much faster. "Bestrafe Mich" and "Bueck Dich" are very catchy songs, with rhythmic, churning guitars, cartoon-like synthesizers, and nearly danceable drum beats. "Sehnsucht" is a very catchy track with a nice shout-along, and the aforementioned "Asche Zu Asche" is a speedy neck-snapper, with heavy chug and churn riffs. "Du Hast," Rammstein's biggest hit single (which was almost solely responsible for the band's success in America), shows up fairly late (track nine). But this song is perfectly executed, and it even includes some creepy, added laughter at the beginning. The melodic moments of this concert are few and far between, but they are also executed flawlessly. "Wilder Wein" is a slower track (a monotony breaker), with light, aquatic-sounding guitar strumming and a distant drum beat; Rammstein do a great job with the whistling and female backed vocals on "Engel"; and, finally, the cleanly sung ending track, "Seemann," is actually pulled off pretty darn well. At fifteen tracks, "Live Aus Berlin" is kind of long. But it sure is an entertaining way to spend an hour and twenty minutes!

Free Music Review: Live aus Berlin....is it an album or a WORK OF ART?
Hit: 5 Stars

I just don't know what to say. It's too much for me. This album is musical heaven. But to that piece of work who wrote that one-star review, before you go badmouthin rammstein fans, have a look at the 62 other 4 and 5 stars.

Spiel Mit Mir - 10/10 - An awsome intro and melody, but such a perverted topic, although the song itself is so good that I dont even think about the topic.

Bestrafe Mich - 9.5/10 - Not much better than the sehnsucht version, but I love when the crowd sings along.

Weißes Fleisch - 10/10 - This song is so explosive and energy-filled, im speechless. But who the heck said its nazi? What is every song thats not about peace and love, automatically nazi?

Sehnsucht - 10/10 - This is a good song. Nice and fast-paced. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Asche Zu Asche - 10/10 - Indeed, one of the best songs on the album. I love when the guitarists light their microphones on fire.

Wilder Wein - 100/10 - Songs like this are the kind that make this album a work of art. Just beautiful.

Heirate Mich - 9/10 - Not bad. Not bad at all.

Du Riechst So Gut - 10/10 - Classic rammstein.

Du Hast - 8.5/10 - This song is overrated. It's still not bad though.

Bück Dich - 10/10 - Very energetic. The crowd really comes alive in this one. Especially later in the song....

Engel - 10/10 - Another one of those slow-paced beautiful songs.

Rammstein - 9/10 - This song really isn't that special, but I like it cause the lead singer lights himself on fire.

Laichzeit - 10/10 - Very weird topic. It reminds me alot of eifersucht. Other than that,it's good.

Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen? - 10/10 - I love when the lead singer throws around those sparks.

Seemann - 10/10 I couldn't think of a better way to end this concert.

Overall Album - 145/150 96%

Free Music Review: Superb Live Disc Chronicles Rammstein's Intense Live Shows...
Hit: 5 Stars

Rammstein remain one of the most bizarre and highly entertaining live acts to ever grace the stages. Lead singer Till Lindemann sets himself on fire at almost every show, and the stage props, antics, and set-up are unbelievable. Rammstein were just as passionate on stage as they are on record, and LIVE AUS BERLIN (come on, you know what that means) captures the band's relentless and superb live show, and over 79 minutes, you too will be enthralled by their music and the audience who chants and sings along.

Live versions of "Du Hast" and "Seamann" are given even more power than possessed on their album version counterparts. You can feel the rush when the band members (you all know them by now, but if you must: guitarists Paul Landers and Richard Kruspe, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christopher Schneider, keyboardist Doktor "Christian" Lorenz (or "Flake") and vocalist Lindemann) are in full swing, and they get the crowd going with such spirit on songs like "Engel" where you actually feel like you're among the attendees. Every song on here is given new life in the live setting, and songs like "Wilder Wein" and "Seamann" do have their hushed parts but remain stomping metal anthems for a new generation. The superb versions of "Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen" and "Spiel Mit Mir" are pure evidence that in a live setting, Rammstein truly mean business. Every guitar line; every drum fill; every keyboard flourish; ever 'r' rolled off Lindemann's tongue; every bass line...they are all here on grand display for your listening pleasure.

So while I'd highly recommend catching them live, LIVE AUS BERLIN is the perfect way to introduce you to their live sound if you haven't already had the chance. While the visuals of the show are not on display here (you need to see them at least once in your lifetime to understand), the music presented here is powerful and as a live act, they are one of the most powerful. Without a doubt, one of the best live albums in metal...period.

Free Music Review: A premium quality recording of Rammstein live in concert
Hit: 5 Stars

I first heard of Rammstein early in '99, when the all-night music show here Down-Under called RAGE played the Rammstein song clip. I was impressed by the spectacular clip with its flames & fireworks. A few months later they played Engel, truly a great song with a very cool , expensive-looking clip. At that point I rushed out & bought the album SEHNSUCHT.

Despite the fact I don't understand German, the powerful combination of voice, music, power and high quality song construction made this CD one of my favourites & most played.

Naturally when I saw in Amazon.Com that a LIVE CD had just been released, I ordered it immediately. It arrived here in Australia just 12 days later & went straight into the stereo.

Just a few tracks in, I was blown away by the high quality recording & mixing of a live concert. The cover credits the Eurosound Mobile, and whoever they are , they must have the best equipment on the planet. It's like they crammed several thousand people into a regular recording studio ! Wow !

About half the songs are already on the Sehnsucht album, but don't let this put you off, because, apart from the crowd noise giving a nicely different edge to to the regular studio treatment, this CD weighs in at a hefty 78 minutes, so there is plenty of value here.

Apart from just having well-constructed songs, Rammstein must also consist of some great musicians, because many music sequences are almost indistinguishable from the studio equivalent, apart of course from the crowd noise which is never overly-intrusive.

The concert was recorded on the 22-23 August 1998 at Parkbuhne Wuhlheide, Berlin.

If you already like Rammstein I highly recommend this CD. Don't hesitate, just get it. If however you are cautious in general about buying live CD's due to varying quality, let me reassure you that this is the best live mix you are ever likely to hear, so go for it & don't forget to crank up the volume.

Free Music Review: RAMMS+EIN Proves Power Lies in Live
Hit: 5 Stars

After being introduced to Rammstein in 1994 i fell in love with the sixtet's amazing bombastic and pulse-poundingly new brand of music. It was until the 1998 release of the Live Aus Berlin album (and its accompanying film compatriot) that i would fully capture the majesty that is RAMMS+EIN, though. In Live Aus Berlin we are introduced to slightly variated versions of classic RAMMS+EIN tunes, and Wielder Wein(which appeared previously only in a single release of ENGEL). But what is the difference that makes Live Aus worthy of purchase? It simply lies in the songs' power and delivery via the guttural growls of Till Lindemann (the lead singer),the monolithic guitar work provided by Richard Kruspe, Olliver Reidel, and Paul Landers, the creepy if not clever electronica of Christian "Flake" Lorenz, and the sharp-edged precision of Christoph Schneider's drums. Once all the aforementioned factors are blended with the anger(audible in Lindemann's voice), the passion, and the overall emotionally riveting sense of the ordeal you have perhaps the most effective live album ever. The smashing entrance with Spielt Mit Mir makes you belt out along with Till's almost sinfully playful lyricism and it only gets better. The songs, as the cd program progresses get increasingly vivid and breath a life of their own. Rammstein will not bore you, like many a live album is known to do. Instead they will place the slower tunes amidst the high tuned ones to give you a potent combination of near euphoria. Although this item which i review is missing a few songs (2 0r 3) from the entire concert, it is not robbed of its dignity and potency. Purchase it i believe you'll be pleasantly surprised if you have not experienced Rammstein before. If you have this is a definite "no-miss" for the RAMMFAN. If possible find the 2-disc set to magnify your experience!
