Free Music Notes for MutterFree Music Review: Nice! Hit: 5 Stars
I sort of got into Rammstein because of my friend, and sort of as a joke (Hey, its a bunch of guys screaming German!) but the more I listened their music, the more I started to really like them. Not as a joke, but as a real band, that played music that was about 10 times better than any American stuff. Then a year or two ago, this CD came out, and I went to the store, and bought (so far) my favorite album of all time (actually tied with Sehnsuct, but still) So here is my humble opinion on each and every song on this album:1. Mein Herz brennt (Means "my heart burns, not "my hair is bent")- one of the great songs on the album, sounds sort of like a Metallica song, if Metallica had any tallent whatsoever, could write good songs, and were German. 2.Links 234- this song is also great, nuff said 3.Sonne- in my opinion, it could be better, but everyone I know says it's the best song on the CD. 4. Ich will (means "I want" in German) Possibly the greatest song I have ever heard. The music video is cool too. You should watch that if you can. 5. Feuer frei! (means "free fire!" hence the bang-banging)-great song, featured in the Triple X movie- Ein Heisser Shrei!, BANG BANG- FEUER FREI!! 6. Mutter (means "mother" in German)- awsome song, one of the best. Also the first, sort of less angry song on the album 7. Spieluhr (no idea what it means, let someone else look it up)- another one of the sort of softer songs, nice glokenspiel, though 8. Zwitter (the sound birds are soposed to make in Germany)- very fun song, love the guitar. This I think actually is my favorite song. 9. Rein raus ( means "in, out" in German")- good song, sort of like "Feuer frei!" in a way, but not as angry 10. Adios- by the end of the album, it sort of gets into more sadder sounding songs that are less angry, if only I actually spoke German. 11. Nebel- the last song. A good ending song, though. (You know how there are a lot of CD's in which the last few songs aren't really even worth listening to)
Free Music Review: Rammstein is Great Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is awesome. I Always think its cool when a band blends together music and culture, anf if you feel the same you should check out System of a Down, Ill Nino, Nonpoint, Apex Theory, or the All American Rejects (that last one was a joke). This Cd has one of my favorite songs- Mein Hers Brennt. This is quite possibly the best song ever, or definetely up there with Taproots Fault, Hed P.E.'s Firsty, and Deftones My Own Summer. Check out those bands as well. Back to Mein Hers Brennt. Here's a suggestion: go out on a dark rainy night and walk down alone on a long, poorly lit street listening to this song. Nothing can beat that feeling you'll feel invincible and totally badass. It may sound stupid but just try it. Now that we have gotten past the best track, lets take a look at the other standouts. Links 2 3 4 is also awesome. Ich Will and Sonne are good but they both get repetitive. Feuer Frei is probably my second favorite song. It is featured on the XxX soundtrack. Thought the movie was decent, Rammstein is in it! They play live in the opening scene and light stuff on fire it's worth your ticket or rental price alone! Mutter is good, and eerie. So is The Discs Closer. Zwitter is also one of my faves. It is incredible. The little voice is so funny. Rein Raus is also one of my faves (Making my favorites Mein Hers Brennt, Feuer Frei, Zwitter, and Rein Raus). This blend of aggro crunching guitar riffs and danceable techno beats, this cd would play equally well at a Hardcore Mosh Pit or an Ecstasy Induced Rave. I don't see how it is possible to not like Rammstein. Pick up this, any fans of metal techno hard rock or the German Language! I can't wait for Rammsteins next CD, i hope they keep it to German again, it adds a little something extra. If You like Rammstein check out the afforementioned cultural bands and also Orgy- Candyass, Nine Inch Nails- Pretty Hate Machine, any KMFDM or MDFMK album, Zeromancer, White Zombie, Rob Zombie, Disturbed, Gravity Kills, Deadsy- Commencement, or the almighty Crossbreed's Synthetic Division.
Free Music Review: Burning Down the Language Barrier Hit: 5 Stars
Proving that even the heaviest anthems can drift into mainstream circulation with the proper mixture of video elements, technotronic outletting, and a need to set things ablaze, Rammstein managed an exorbitant amount success with their last outing, Sehnsucht. This wasn't without reason, either, because the performance was solid, reading like a book of anthems in a language I find myself struggling to dissect because my understanding of German isn't what it once was. Still, Mutter goes father into both the industrial spectrum and the more driven side of music as well, adding both the splendor of the beautiful into works where you wouldn't normally expect them as well as providing the pulsating hammer to drive their works further and faster. The album begins with the spoken word piece, "Mein Herz Brennt," giving one the impression that perhaps this album will lead into more tamed pastures before the heavier, pulsating sounds of "Links 2 3 4," introduces the listener to what would be a fairer assessment of what to expect next. Other things are to the fray later, such as the beautiful sounds of the chorus in "Sonne 4," combining a strangely angelic sing-a-long into the background at uneven intervals, or the ballad-rich tempo of "Mutter," holding the attention well as the wheels of the industrial machine grinds on. This, combined with the terminal beat that infects the album, keeps it pressing forward in ways that throw interesting entanglements of sound effects, heavily crafted guitars, and beats into a dance-rich German barrage. If you've yet to check into Rammstein, perhaps this wouldn't be the first album to start with, but it would definitely be something worthy of acquiring along with their last release. Both are enjoyable in their own right and give one an idea of the progression the band has undertaken on its road to stardom, not to mention how a pyromaniac German band continues on the road to success.
Free Music Review: Rammstein proves they're the best... Hit: 5 Stars
While all the bands seem to be softening their approach or following the trends Rammstein comes out with their heaviest release, and show that there's no need to do all that hip-hop-rap talk and to point your thumbs up and down on and on..."Mutter" is an execellent album, from beginning to end, there are no lowpoints in this album...The album in general is heavier, and more aggressive, with a lot of anger...The guys found a heavier sound in the guitars, and the drums sound less industrial and electronic, and more direct (you''ll find double pedal-drumm beats, like in "Zwitter")...Sometimes they sound really punk, like in "Adios"..."Sehnsucht" is more danceable and electronic, but the keyboards in songs like "Ich Will" or "Zwitter" give them an apocaliptic and metal base... "Meinherz Brennt" has a cool chorus with violins, and a cool solo (the orchestra appears in more songs). "Links 2 3 4" reminds me the song "Sehnsucht" or "Du Hast". "Ich Will" is a great track, with terrific keyboards as background and really heavy, with a cool rhythm..."Feuer Frei!", "Adios" and "Zwitter"'s speed remind me "Asche zu Asche", or even faster...The song "Mutter" is an example to all the metal bands how a ballad should be done. In "Mutter" they redefine the word EPIC...In my opinion this is the best Rammstein album. Heavier than the previous two, showing that metal runs through their veins...If I have to pic my faves (that is unfair), I'd stay with "Meinherz Brennt", "Ich Will" and "Zwitter"... Have in mind that this review was written by a trash, death and black metal fan (lot of metal bands should envy the strength and heaviness of "Zwitter")...And with this I'm not saying that the faster and heavier the better. I think that Rammstein had a cool and positive change, and it's a relief to find such masterpiece nowadays, with all the .... that is coming out...Rammstein are winners...I recommend this album to any metal fan...
Free Music Review: The Best Rammstein Album - A Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
This album is excellent. It has all the elements of a great CD. Musically it is very well organized and textured. Lyrically, it is wonderful even though it is also in German. They have dropped the crude subject matter of before with the exception of zwitter which pokes fun at homosexuals which would offend homosexuals much more than eminem because it is much funnier; whereas eminem is just plain stupid. The lyrics of the other songs are pure poetry. No, I am not talking about the "i'm lonely and my parents hate me poetry" of american rock bands like godsmack and cold. This has style and beauty. Let me give a review of each song with a rating on a scale of 4.Mein Hertz Brennt (My heart burns)-4/4-fun to listen to. violin arrangements and a nice beat accompanying the melody. Links 2 3 4 (left 2 3 4) -3.5/4- An amazing industrial-metal song. Reminds me of KMFDM. Awesome riff. Sonne (sun)-4/4-Melodic song with Till Lindemann going from an angry voice to a powerful melodic voice in the chorus. It also uses a cool sample of a female voice singing. Ich Will (i want)-3/4-Typical Rammstein song with a strong edge and good angry vocals. Feuer Frei (fire!)-4/4-Heavy, violent, tough song. enough said. Mutter(mother) - 4/4-A song about the singer's mother. Heartfelt and powerful. Spieluhr(game of time)4/4-Gloomy feel and good music. Zwitter(hermaphrodite)-4/4-Awesome riff and funny lyrics make this a winning song. Rein Raus-2.5/4-I forgot what the lyrics were about and what the song title was in english. This is a decent song, but doesnt stand out among the other great songs on here. Adios (spanish for 'bye)-2/4-Most generic song on the cd. It still rocks though. Nebel(fog)-4/4-Great closing album is a masterpiece. No songs are bad and every time I listen to it I listen to the whole thing. I strongly advise you to buy it now.
