Free Music Notes for Reise ReiseFree Music Review: Rammstein is all grow'd up. Hit: 5 Stars
To everyone who's whining because this album isn't as hard growling stomping rock as their previous three-- to you, I give you singer Till Lindemann's advice, translated slightly because most of the whiners seem to speak english.
"If they want another Herzeleid, they should just listen to Herzeleid again."
That said. My objective opinion...
This album kicks ASS.
The R+ boys are playing with new instrumentation, new styles, and new subjects (it's a surprisingly topical album, what with the cannibal-scandal song Mein Teil, a love/hate song for America, and a rather enthusiastic ode to the -hem, hem- beauty of Moscow.)
They loosened up enough to do Los, a gorgeous bluesy little thing you can shake your tail to. Mellowed out a little to do Reise Reise, a song to get your blood pumping. Got silly enough to write Amerika.
The drummer has left his almost militaristic straight-laced habits for a few nice, new beats that spice up the album. There's a harmonica. An accordian. A symphony.
And it manages not to be as pretentious as you'd think a rock album with a symphony would be. It's still fresh and powerful.
The thing that's best to me is that Mr. Lindemann's finally opened those impressive pipes of his and really shown himself to be a fantastic singer. It's not that I minded the growling, mind you, but if you listen to this album you'll hear what wasn't obvious on earlier albums, especially Herzeleid-- the man has a damn fine voice.
Rammstein wanted change. They got change. It's damn good change. And bugger the fans who don't like it.
Free Music Review: My Review on Rammstein's "Reise, Reise" Hit: 5 Stars
Rammstein's fourth studio album, "Reise, Reise" is a masterpiece. All 11 tracks on this album are fantastic in their own way. I like their new sound very much. It gives off more of an organic and humanistic sound. My favorite songs to listen to on this album are (in no particular order):
Mein Teil
Stein Um Stein
Amour
Morgenstern
Reise, Reise
Dalai Lama
Ohne Dich - may be the best song on the album by far!
Keine Lust
Amerika
The song "Los" is interesting becuase it shows a more mellow side of the band - sounds "bluesy". I like the song, but it's not one that I listen to that much. I can say the same thing about "Moskau". That song is good, but for some reason, I do not see myself wanting to listen to it much anymore. Now I've had this album since the beginning of October. Rammstein released the album on September 27, 2004 in many countries in Europe, so I ordered a copy from Amazon.de (Amazon store out of Germany) and I got my copy the first week in October. I just couldn't wait for the album to come out in the states.
Well to sum everything up, I really love the entire album. "Mutter" and "Reise, Reise" are Rammstein's two best albums out of the four studio albums so far. I have all of their albums, so I can really see how far they have progressed as a band - sound and all. Rammstein are truely an awesome band. I hope that people who do not know of Rammstein will hear any of their albums (especially "Reise, Reise") and become a fan. And for all current Rammstein fans, "Reise, Reise" is a MUST have!!!!
RAMMSTEIN WILL ROCK FOREVER!!!!!!!!
Free Music Review: Another Masterpiece from Rammstein! Hit: 5 Stars
For the fourth time Rammstein deliver a masterpiece! And every album has it's own flavour!
Reise Reise is an emotional journey through the wicked world of the german sextet. No wonder the album's cover sleeve represents an airplane's black box-two of the songs ( Reise Reise and Dalai Lama) are dedicated to plane crashes. The group has grown as songwriters (there are unexpected twists in some songs, as well as choruses and even a symphony orchestra). Mein Teil is probably the best Rammstein song ever-intense and grotesque at the same time. The guitars are heavily distorted and the music fits ideally with the story for the caninbal- madman. Unfortunately, they have omitted the newspaper announcement included at the beginning of the video. Keine Lust starts heavy and has as surprising twist when the main character realizes he's dying. Los is probably the less interesting song on the album although I appreciate the humour . Amerika is an ironic description of what is happening recently in the United Stattes-very catchy chorus contrasting the heavy guitars. Moskau is an excellent song - slightly ironic , partly nostalgic about the democratic changes in this beautiful city- a girl's voice singing in Russian makes the song very authentic. Stein Um Stein is about a madman who's going to hide a body in the walls of house he's building. Incredible vocals from Till and an amazing synth solo. Ohne Dich is a stunnning ballad about a loss of a loved one. Amour is a great closer-about all the sufferings love can bring and as a conclusion at the end Till sings " Please, give me poison" . Buy this album! It's worth the ride!
Free Music Review: Another Flawless Album Hit: 5 Stars
Rammstein is a band that has never released a bad album. Each record they produce takes their form of industrial heavy metal to different levels, all of which are purely enjoyable, and `Reise, Reise' is no different. Those expecting some sort of change in form are sadly mistaken, Rammstein put forth eleven tracks of diverse, catchy, elegant, and all out heavy tracks of German know how, and, unlike a lot of their industrial peers, they actually utilize the metallic chops that they posses. The use of keyboards is a bit sparser than on their previous effort - the absolutely fantastic `Mutter' - bringing their sound back to the more riff driven mentality of `Sehnsucht' - songs like "Keine Lust" and "Mein Teil" being among the heaviest tracks that they have ever put forth. If you are into the softer aspect of Rammstein - i.e. their poignant ballads - you need not worry, this album takes many of those ideals and applies them, the final three tracks being very powerful ballads in the view of "Seeman" and "Nebel". Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of the album is the catchy nature of the songs. Songs like "Amerika" and "Moskau" are the highlights of the album and have choruses that will not leave your head for days. I can't find any faults with `Reise, Reise' - like all other Rammstein albums. If you enjoy any form of heavy music pick this up, whether you enjoy the more mainstream aspects of the genre or are one who tends to stray to the heavier aspects of metal.
Free Music Review: Rocks hard, and is suprisingly diverse... Hit: 5 Stars
It's my new favorite album! My first Rammstein cd. The only stuff I'd been familiar with were 2 videos - - the hilariously bizarre innui of Keine Lust, and Amerika. I find much in current rock music a letdown from too much focus on speed drumming, riffing, and sheer loudness, while sacrificing actual SONGWRITING. (I.e. a lot of Nu Metal.) Not that I don't like these elements, but there's gotta be more going on, or my ears suffer from sheer exhaustion and I can only listen to it in pieces and parts.
Yeah it's LOUD sometimes, but...Reise, Reise is also eminently listenable thru n' thru like old-school classic albums, thanks to good SONGS, use of dynamics, solid musicianship with crunching guitars and lush production with keyboards used to good effect, interesting segues, and unexpected elements like heavenly choirs, a blues number (and it works...their way), even an accordian.
Oh, and it's mostly all sung in German, which simply adds to the whole Teutonic mystique. Translated into English, there's some bizarre lyrics, but hey, whaddaya expect from the minds of a band that doused a dance floor with gasoline and set it on fire to get bored fans off their arses and dance!
And That Voice. Meine Gott! Till Lindemann, you could sing me a lullaby anytime, and please....in German! (Look, I'm a musician AND female. Metalhead purists who don't appreciate my perspective - - get over yourselves!) Highly recommended.
