Free Music Notes for Reise ReiseFree Music Review: PHENOMENAL Hit: 5 Stars
Rammstein's latest album continues the greatness of one of the most ingenious and unique metal acts ever put together. I would think that I would hear a mediocre or so-so song by them by now, but no. This band just gets better and every song they make is awesome.
Reise Reise is a great jump for the band, this is easily their most creative album musically and I think lyrically as well. Once you start hearing the accordion on the shanty-ish "Reise Reise", you know you are in for something special. The album is different musically in the use of the accordion also in Moscow, and the acoustic trappings of Los which has a very cavernous bluesy feel.
Lyrically you have the madness of Mein Teil (taking in the story of one of Germany's notorious recent murders), to the ingenious of crass comercialism with Amerika as lead singer Teil waxes about the glory of US domination. Or the great symobolism of Dali Lama which talks about a plane crash of scared passengers, alluding to the Dali Lama's own true fear of flying. Absoultely brilliant!
They even make some poignant beautiful music in Ohne Dich (Without You), Tiel and the band has never sounded so wonderful. And the closer Amour sounds like these Germans could easily fit in comfortable in some dingy Paris cafe.
An incredibly diverse album filled with symbolism, great metal, and most importantly awesome tunes!!
Free Music Review: RAMMSTEIN IS STILL POWERFUL AS EVER! Hit: 5 Stars
This disc is simply amazing and was DEFINATELY worth the 9.99 (brand new) I paid for it. While the other ones were different from each other, this one is much more diverse than them. Not by any means saying the other ones are bad or inferior, they are brillant too but, this is the fresh new sound of Till Lindemann and Co. It's like a peppermint lifesaver, a breath of fresh air. The song "Mein Teil" caught my attention and blew me away the first time I heard it. Till's vocals are powerful and captivating as well as the melodies which makes this cd whole. To all the 1-2 star reviews of this disc, they must want to hear another version of the "Mutter" cd with different vocals. Bands need change once in a while. The power of them is still there, just in a different way. People may think that Rammstein is on their downward spiral but, IMO the change from "Mutter" to "Reise, Reise" was a smart move. A band may lose fans because of change but, TRUE fans will support that band on whatever path they decide to take. I HIGHLY recommend this disc or any of the Rammstein releases to anyone. If you are new to the band or debating on whether to get this or not, PICK IT UP! If you don't like it right off the bat play it a few more times and let the music sink in. I loved it right off the bat and was a no brainer when it came to purchasing it. Rammstein will always have a spot in my collection.
Free Music Review: Great album! Hit: 5 Stars
Rammstein was the first and is my favorite, Industrial Metal band that has been released from another country other than America. Rammstein's Sehnsucht was the first album I ever bought from them and mainly because of the internationally known 'Du Hast' song. Ever since then, whenever I am having a somewhat crappy day and I feel liking venting my frustration out through listening to the type of music that is related to how I feel, then I always listen to Rammstein. Then one day I heard the track, Amerika I knew that it had been awhile since I bought a new album from them and was very pleased to order Reise, Reise. Besides Amerika, I absolutely love cranking the volume to: Mein Teil (My Part) - Dalai Lama - Keine Lust (No Desire) - Los (Less) - Amerika (America) - Moskau (Moscow) - Morgenstern (Morning Star) - Stein Um Stein (Stone by Stone) - Adios (Goodbye) - Amour (Amour). Although not all the songs are as heavy as the songs from Sehnsucht, each track has more melodic symphony sounds, besides Mein Teil, which is all about Armin Meiwes a man found guilty in Germany for finding a willing person on the Internet to kill and then eat. And every step of the murder and cannibalism was video taped on a 2 hour tape which actually made some of the detectives seek dramatic therapy because the video was appallingly graphic.
In closing, I absolutely love this album and the band Rammstein!
Free Music Review: Evolving Sound, Same Great Rammstein Hit: 5 Stars
I'm going to levy a disclaimer for this one. If you listen to Rammstein because you like the extremely heavy and fast paced guitar riffs from the other 3 albums, then I'm warning you this album does not have nearly as much of that on it. However, if you like Rammstein because of the heavy sound, their ability to switch pace mid song, and their incredibly deviant metaphoric lyrics, then this album is perfect for you.
The band has said that they want to try and make Till sing better instead of just speak, and they want to make their songs more complex, and they did just that. This is truly a better work of metal musicianship, and these songs have much more melody than most of their previous works. Of course there are still some good fast paced tracks on there to help keep the overall album moving smoothly and let us know that they still enjoy that style, but for the most part this album is much more 'beautiful' and less 'hardcore' than their other efforts, and I am personally glad that Rammstein has decided to show off their skills a little more and start to stray from the standard formula of industrial heavy metal.
So if you're willing to hear something new, give this album a listen, just don't expect speed metal. I'm looking forward to seeing them in concert now that they have a diverse array of songs to play, I just hope they come to the states again!
Free Music Review: Rammstein's lyricism gets more diverse Hit: 5 Stars
Reise, Reise
Rammstein's fourth studio album
2004
If you liked Rammstein before giving "Reise, Reise" a listen, you'll like Rammstein after giving "Reise, Reise" a listen. A band like Rammstein could never really change that much. "R, R" has the same ethereal synth melodies, crushing guitar lines and deep-throated vocals that made "Sehnsucht" and "Mutter" iconic among German metal albums. What is actually different on "R, R" is the lyrics, which have really started to display real thought. Of course, there's plenty here for fans of the older material, as the band still displays their love of the perverse (Mein Teil [My Part]) and the nonsensical (Keine Lust [Don't Feel like It]). But for once, the band is caught displaying actual emotion with songs like Ohne Dich [Without You] and Amour [Love]. On the flip side, the band is shifting their attentions to political (Amerika) and social (Moskau) lyrical themes as well.
People who fell in love with songs like Zwitter, Heirate Mich, Du Hast and Du Riechst So Gut may not be so enamored of the themes of Rammstein's latest outing, but the band is opening up their horizons for a much more interesting series of albums to come (and how long could they write albums purely about sex and death anyway?). If you want to see Rammstein diversify, or don't speak any German and just like the sound, pick up "Reise, Reise."
