Free Music Notes for RosenrotFree Music Review: A nice direction for the band Hit: 5 Stars
Rammstein's got the magic metal down. While their first two albums (and the live concert DVD) reflect more of a gimmick machine-like pounding rhythm, they've since decided to become significantly more musical and less gimmicky. In all honesty, I think this is a great direction, mostly because of the amazing depth and power of the lead singer's voice. I think his insane bass that makes your windows shudder at high volume is wasted on simple "talking" style lyrics, which is mostly what you see in their early stuff. The more melodic tones and singing nature of the last few albums really bring out the skills.
This album is no exception. It's a lot more atmospheric than either Mutter or Reise Reise, and he gives full breadth to his voice. They really use the deep sounds more and more, giving a fantastic atmospheric metal approach. The only downside is that they've gotten rid of some of the more interesting tiny little guitar moments that made some of their early stuff fun to listen to, instead deciding on a more uniform sound. While I do love the sound, I miss the random guitar flares.
Regardless, this album hasn't left my playlists in a while, and it won't be going anywhere soon. There aren't really any "weak" songs on it that I would name- although I do like some songs much more than others, they're all good to listen to. The last two songs are definitely a bit of "wind-down" songs, but still enjoyable after a fun listen.
"Hilf Mir" and "Spring" are just two of the most amazing metal/rock songs I've ever heard. Honestly.
Free Music Review: A must have for any Rammstein fan(or fan of great industrial/rock music)! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is a very solid showing for my favorite band, Rammstein. Though not as heavy as their previous work, I still find much enjoyment and pleasure in listening to this album as well. Every song on this CD is worthy of a listen, even some of the slower ones. Personnal favorites include Mann gegan Mann, Rosenrot, Stirb Nicht Vor Mir, Wo Bist Du, and Te Quiero Puta!(one of their songs NOT to be taken seriously). Some fans will argue that R+ is beggining to "sell out" with their somewhat "new sound". I see it as a step forward in their amazing career so far and can't wait to hear what their new album is going to be like whenever it is released in 2008(so I've heard).
There are still many "hard" songs on this album which will get the blood flowing(Mann gegan Mann, Benzin, Rosenrot, etc.), but I truly believe that it is their "ballads", so to speak, that have defined Rammstein and their sucess in the international rock industry. If you enjoy this album, be sure to pick up Rammstein's previous work, as you will not be disappointed.
Overall, not as "heavy" as previous releases, but even folks who are not big fans of R+ will appreciate the wide varity of musical listenings on their fifth studio album(not including their live albums). Pick this up if you are a fan of Rammstein or a fan of industrial/rock music. You will not be disappointed!(Also be sure to check out previous work from this band as all of their albums are worthy of a listening and/or purchase).
Free Music Review: Rammstein - keeps getting better Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a Rammstein fan a long time, several years now. To date, they've put on the best show I've seen and are just about the only band that can keep coming out with albums that after the third or fourth one haven't just plain sucked.
A lot of people aren't 'liking' the direction Rammstein is going, but I think it's great. I like the last two albums better than their first two, and see Mutter as kind of a turning point. Bands change over time, and while they definately stick to their heavy riff roots, Rammstein has changed...in my opinion, they're getting better.
Some of the tracks on this album are just very melancholy and eerie if you take the time to research where the songs came from and what inspired them. Of course Rosenrot itself is partially based on a Goethe poem and also Snow White and Rose Red. There are a few more tracks on the album I really enjoyed, the only one I DIDN'T particularly care for was Stirb Nicht vor Mir. All the others, be it slow and moody or hard crunching, I thought were excellent. I like the direction this band is going, I hope they stick around a long time and I really hope they decide to tour in the US again soon, one of the few bands I would go pay to watch in concert more than once!
Free Music Review: Zer gut! Hit: 5 Stars
I'll admit, I never went for Rammstein in their 'scare your parents' incarnation here in the U.S. They actually caught my attention in the opening act of XXX as they played on stage with all the usual fire and mayhem. Since then, I have become addicted to their brand of German metal...that label for lack of a better term. Rosenrot, like most Rammstein albums, will not blow you away with technical skill. However, there is just a latent heaviness about Rammstein that tears at your soul. Everything good about Rammstein is featured here- Til's sinister German (and Spanish!) vocals, Flake's electronic creativity, and plenty of bass and guitar rumbling along with machine-like precision. Listening to Rosenrot is much like standing in a room with a large, heavy machine.
Personally, I like the newer Rammstein material best. That is probably just personal preference as I was not a fan before their third album. But anyway you look at it, Rammstein is a great alternative to the cookie-cutter U.S. metal scene. Too bad this album has yet to see a U.S. release. But with Amazon.com, you can still order it domestically and see what the rest of the world is crowing about. Rammstein is the best!
Free Music Review: Amazing Hit: 5 Stars
I didn't know this album had leftover scraps from Reise Reise when I first heard it. Maybe that's why I don't immediately assume it's not as good as thier other albums, because I didn't think "oh this is just leftover crap they didn't want to put in thier last album" Of course, if there's one thing I've learned, it's Rammstein doesn't release crap. If the songs had been bad, they would never have put them on an album. The fact of the matter is, the leftover songs were leftover, because they didn't fit on the album well. This cd doesn't sound like Reise Reise at all, which is exactly why they didn't put the songs on that album. I couldn't tell you which songs are new, and which ones are leftovers, and I really don't care. This album has just as much energy as any Rammstein album, and sounds different than any of them as well. That's what I love about these guys, they are constantly evolving thier music, and they have never failed to produce an amazing, unique, album. This is no exception.
