Free Music Review: Hey Ho, LET'S GO!
Hit: 5 Stars

... the words that inspired a revolution. Yeah, I know that phrase has been repeated so many times it would be stale to title a review with, but it's such a perfect way to summerize the Ramones. They were so full of energy, so powerful and vibrant in everything they did, and this record represents that perfectly. They never let up, from the opening attack of "Blitzkreig Bop" to the energetic closing bars of "Today your love, Tomorrow the world."
The record sounds more like a best of collection, with classics like "Judy is a punk" and the blatantly titled "Now I wanna sniff some glue." (That is probably the greatest song title ever, next to NOFX's "I Live In a Cake").
But don't take my word for it. These guys have been showered in praise all over the musical world, and I'm just one more bleating voice in the endless flock that eternally screams the greatness of the Ramones. But I'll tell you, the flock is right. The Ramones simply rock.

Free Music Review: Today your gut, tomorrow history

The Ramones are historically misrepresented as the first punk band--see the New York Dolls--but their debut is accurately acclaimed as one of the greatest rock 'n' roll records ever cut, from the drumbeat lightning-strike drive of "Blitzkrieg Bop" (little sex, some macho, lotta dysfunction) onward. It's a gloriously maladjusted crusade through the backstreets of the Bronx, where mothers "beat on the brat with a baseball bat," kids sniff glue out of desperate boredom, and their bully older brothers are riveted by "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." The Ramones were those kids. Now they're pop music legends, since, even if they didn't invent it, they did bring punk to the mainstream (eventually; their debut only hit number 11 on the "Billboard" charts). They're also in on Cold War absurdity ("Havana Affair"--what do you think of that, Mr. Zimmerman?). The best title award goes to "Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World," one of my favorites off the album, despite the fact that it's about Naziism.

Free Music Review: This is the one
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been listening to the Ramones since I was 5 years old, 1979. I have never tired of them. It's not about obvious talent. If I want talent, I will listen to Tool or so many of the other great bands that I do listen to but when I want something fun and simple this is it. I do consider myself a fan of punk. Even though most of my cds are metal. The Ramones shouldn't be put in the punk genre because there is so much more to them then the Sex Pistols. I will say that I think this cd started punk. I don't get a punk feel from any of the Stooges releases or even the MC5. This is what I need when I want to have fun and be silly. I would even tell parents to buy this for your kids who want the newest Good Charlotte. I find as much, "talent" in this cd as I do any that I own because I never skip a song. That to me is talent not how well they can sing or play their guitars. Give it a try and you will be singing a medley of the songs all day. Very catchy and as good as anything on this site.

Free Music Review: polished lo-fi rock and roll punk madness
Hit: 5 Stars

At first listen, you might go, who are these guys? The music is quite simple, and it also sounds pretty bad, but as you will soon find out, it's great. It's really hard to explain, but it's really easy to see why this band was so influential with extremely catchy hooks about beating on brats and other great stuff. This album of course contains one of my favorite rock/punk/whatever you want to call it songs of all time, the classic "Blitzkrieg Bop" that is extremely catchy, propulsive, and just great. The whole album has this chunky, fun feel and songs about anything and everything. It is really easy to see how they inspired so many great and horrible bands as the music is really basic or it just sounds basic, but has amazing resonance and energy. Plus, the Ramones are just cool.
There are extra tracks which are demos of songs from this album and other Ramones gems. So if you want an introduction to a band that really needs no introduction, get this CD. You won't be disappointed.

Free Music Review: THE WAY PUNK WAS SUPPOSED TO TASTE......
Hit: 5 Stars

The Ramones did it first. The Ramones did it right. Classic stuff.
The Ramones are one of those bands that lasted a long time, due to the fact that they never changed face. Sure the lineups altered a little over the years, but the formula was always basically the same, and no matter what RAMONES record you listen to, it's gonna ROCK!
The first though, is still the best. Every song is a classic, and not to mention this was what changed everything and basically kicked off the Punk craze in the seventies.
No breaks anywhere on here, one two minute song to the next and we just get faster! BLITZ,BEAT,JUDY.....
This band defined an era. They were underground, yet universally well knowns. They were an institution, and yet never were that well off. These guys toured for years and years, not because they liked it (in fact, they all HATED each other) but simply because they HAD to. They played to survive, and OH the legacy they left behind. OH YEAH!
