Free Music Notes for Randy Jackson's Music Club, Volume 1Free Music Review: Nice bunch of tracks Hit: 4 StarsI was encouraged to buy this by my daughter, who saw Paula Abdul's song and video on American Idol; she just wanted that track for her MP3 player, but I was quite happy to buy it for myself when I saw the amazing line up on the album. Joss Stone! Lucy Woodward! And yes, Paul Abdul, on whom I've had a crush for over 20 years. I'm also a fan of May McPhee, and was pleasantly surpriused by her duet with Eliot Yamin (of whom I was not a big fan during his tim on Idol). The other tracks, by artists I've never heard of before, are also nice additions, and all in all I like the entire album. This is touted as Volume 1 - I'm intrigued to see what Jackson comes up with next.

Free Music Review: Interesting Mix Hit: 3 StarsBy far the song that Paula Abdul sings, Dance Like There's No Tomorrow, is the best song on there in my opinion. The rest of the songs were a new and refreshing change to what I normally here. The Joss Stone song has become a fast favorite too. I like mix CDs like this because if offers variety and also a chance to explore what else each artist has accomplished.
Free Music Review: GOOD JOB... Hit: 5 StarsVery professional. The CD was received in a timely manner, and in good condition.
I will not hesitate to purchase from this vendor in the future..
Free Music Review: Randy's personal musical journey Hit: 3 StarsThis collection of music is an eclectic mix that serves to showcase the musical career of Randy Jackson, now known by the younger generation as the judge from American Idol who uses the expressions "dawg" and "pitchy" a lot while encouraging aspiring singers to make the songs their own - you know what I'm sayin'?
A mixture of pop, R&B, hip hop, blues, jazz and gospel, the draw here is the hot list of guest performers, including Joss Stone, Ghostface Killa, Jason Mraz, John Rich, Richie Sambora, Travis Tritt, Bebe Winans, Mariah Carey, Brian McKnight, and Idol finalists Katherine McPhee and Elliott Yamin.
The main feature of the album is the song by fellow judge Paula Abdul (and featuring Randy), which takes us back to her glory days of the eighties. The song is reasonably radio-friendly, sounding like something she should have done way back then, and as Simon is fond of saying - it's dated. In my opinion, the song needed some fresher beats and a younger performer, but maybe that's just me - at least she made the song her own and wore colorful clothing.
The other featured track is "Real Love", the duet by McPhee and Yamin, a cover of a song by Brit singer Lee Ryan. Also look for "Just Walk on By" covered by Joss Stone, "Who's Gonna Love You Now" sung by Kelli Love, "Something To Believe In" by Jason Mraz, Van Hunt and Jon McLaughlin, the Michael Buble cover "Home" done by John Rich & Anthony Hamilton and "Willing To Try" performed by Richie Sambora, Travis Tritt and Lucy Woodward.
An okay compilation for the pop culture value, but not an essential one for your collection. Recommended for downloading individual tracks after listening to the previews.
