Free Music Review: From a True Rascal Fan
Hit: 5 Stars

Melt mesmorized me and "Feels like Today" has captivated me.
I've had the CD for almost a month now (got it early) and I still listen to it a few times a week. Upon the first few listens, I still preferred Melt.....but soon enough I've changed my mind.
It's a very rare thing when a band can make a CD and you actually enjoy every song and never have to use the skip button.
It's even rarer that for me this is the SECOND cd R.F. has done this with.

Bc I got the CD sooner, my track listing is different than the CD -- so here is my rundown in order of MY track listing.

Feels Like Today - 9/10 Once I heard this single, I knew that they had a great album in store. Even though it's become tired to me (from hearing it sooo much) it is still one of the best songs on the Album and was an excellent choice for their first single.

Fast Cars and Freedom - 10/10 Probably my favorite song on the CD. The chorus is catchy and upbeat and makes for an excellent driving song.

Day Before You - 9/10 Rascal Flatts is really able to express emotions precisely through their lyrics. a beautiful song

Where You Are - 8/10 Not one of my faves but certainly not skip worthy. Could be used as a christian song... "You're a waterfall, watching over me..I'm a thirsty man...Let me drink you in" Very catchy.

Holes- 7/10 My Least favorite song on the CD. Excellent lyrics however the song and chorus just seem to drag in my opinion. Not to be overlooked though..just not my favorite. In a CD full of absolutely superb songs...this one just did not seem to fit.

Oklahoma-Texas Line - 8/10 Their most upbeat song on the album..reminds me of 'My Front Porch Lookin In' by Lonestar. (which I loved) Fun song.

Here's To You - 9/10 a Song that I am guessing that is written to their fans. Very classy and respectful - catchy and fun to listen to you..bc then again...It's to us.

Skin - 10/10 I did not care for this song much...at first Listened to it a few times and subconciously drowned it out. Realized the chorus became stuck and my head and then got the urge to listen to it more. Touching lyrics..beautifully written verses and the chorus is catchy, tender and sweet. One of my favorites on this CD.

Then I Did - 9/10 An Excellent Filler Track. I tend to call the songs between tracks 5-10 -- they seems to just be there and not be anything special..but as always R.F delivers another catchy song.

When The Sand Runs Out - 10/10 Another fave...reminds me of "Live Like You were Dying" same song meaning... I prefer this more. Excellent Song. Excellent Chorus.

Bless the Broken Road - 10/10 For those of you that don't know, this song is a remake. Rascal Flatts have perfected it though. My 2nd fave on this CD. Touching lyrics and the harmonizations on the chorus + the piano make this song absolutely amazing. This song represents Rascal Flatts at it's finest. Hopefully will become another single.

Breakaway - 8/10 Pretty catchy chorus, not a complete fave but as noted before -- it's definately not skip worthy.

Hope this helps! don't take my word for it -- go buy it and try it out yourself. You won't be sorry.

Free Music Review: Blown Away....the Evolution of Rascal Flatts
Hit: 5 Stars

The album itself, absolutely blew me away. I've been following Rascal Flatts VERY closely for about 4 yrs. I knew they were going to step up the quality of material on this record, but I had no idea how big of a leap in quality it would be. I knew they were up to the task and that they had so much more to say, and offer, musically. Finally, we get to see it, the musical depth they've ALWAYS possessed, in the form of "Feels Like Today." Rascal Flatts is known for radio friendly tunes, but these songs will become hits based soley on their quality. This album focuses more on life, and when it is about love, it is how that love has effected life. About half of these songs made me cry. More of a personal thing I would think, but it was as if Rascal Flatts had read my diary when going through the song selection process. The band also went with top Nashville songwriters without using the usual suspects over and over again, they went with songwriters known for their highly emotional and thought-provoking styles as opposed to writing radio hits. And once again, they come through in a big way for the fans. "Here's To You" is so personally attributed to the fans, that the first verse actually describes a group of fans from the Rascal Flatts Street Team that drove a civic and camped out all night to get tickets to see the guys on Jay Leno. The band personanally witness this event and they were blown away by that kind of devotion. The cd contains about an HOUR of bonus behind the scenes footage. It seems as if they become even more fan oriented each day. The single most profound thing that makes this record different, is this IS RASCAL FLATTS. Knowing the music that they love to listen to, perform, and aspire to, this album reflects them accurately. The last album, double platinum Melt, gave the record company the proof that the band can sell records. Once this is proven, artists usually experience artistic freedom to a high degree. Therefore it does not suprise me that the 3rd album, "Feels Like Today" contains this kind of evolution of the band. The vocal arrangement and instrumentals are MUCH more natural on this project. The vocals seem to just float easily without a high amount of effort. There wasn't the vocal layering that we saw on the first two albums. As for the hidden track "Skin" there's nothing to say. Simply one of the most profoundly touching, and well written of any song I have ever had the privalige to hear. You will cry, this is a guarantee. The melody is SO effective, that the vocals bring goosebumps. This is Rascal Flatts coming into their own, and loving it. Their fans are loving it right along with them.

Free Music Review: just plain good
Hit: 5 Stars

I'll establish three things from the outset: 1) I'm a guy. 2) I don't like boy bands 3) I love Rascal Flatts...I hear so often how this group is so generic, so "not-country", so teeny- bopper-bubble-gum flavored sugar for the new-age country masses, and I just have a question...who cares?
To start, Gary LeVox may have the most talented voice in music today. As one of his band members says, "I could listen to Gary sing the phonebook.", and it's true. Boy bands often use electronic effects, hip wardrobes, and dance moves to hide the lack of talent they have. RF is talented all the way around. Muscially sound, and vocally divine, they turn what could be your run-of-the-mill pop country song into a whole new musical experience.
Let's face it, these boys still sing like 20 year olds, but they don't look like ones anymore. Women aren't flocking to a Rascal Flatts show in hopes of Gary taking his shirt off. It's their soulful sound and straight-to-the-heart lyrics that draw people in. Yes, its all been sung before, the "I'm so glad you are with me", and the "I'm so sad we're apart", but this trio gives it even more meaning. They harmonize so perfectly, and you feel the raw emotion behind the song come through the polished studio cut. Sometimes I do wish they could let loose a little more musically, but hey, i'll take what I can get.
You will be hard pressed to find a lot of guys who will admit they listen to Rascal Flatts, but don't be fooled when they tell you they only listen to Toby Keith and Big and Rich. You know somewhere on their itunes is some RF tucked away, maybe disguised under "ACDC" or "Slayer". I mean let's face it, what women wouldn't want to hear her boyfriend tell her "I melt everytime you look at me that way...it never fails...any time, any place...this burn in me's the coolest thing I've ever felt..."? So man up guys: listen to Rascal Flatts, get in touch with your emotional side, and take your lady to one of their shows. You'll lock it up really quick.

OMG!!!!!! Come on, gimme some more stars!!!!!!!!
This has to be one of the best albums in country music! This is my third Rascal Flatts CD (after 'Me And My Gang' and 'Melt') and I have yet to be disappointed in any of their songs!
I know it has to be the most depressing song on the disc, but I could listen to 'Holes', like, a million times and not get tired of hearing it!
'Oklahoma-Texas Line' is the absolute best song on the CD. Of course it is; Rascal Flatts wrote it!!!
'Skin' is just out of this world, and I almost cry every time I hear it.
'Here's To You' makes you proud to be a Rascal Flatts fan, and I just love the sound of it.
'Feels Like Today' is another awesome sounding song and the lyrics are just terrific.
'Fast Cars And Freedom' is another sweet one that Gary Levox co-wrote. I love the guitars in the intro!!
'When The Sand Runs Out' is one of those reality check songs that makes you think. Very meaningful, and a good message.
'Bless The Broken Road' sends shivers down my spine, because Gary always sounds like he singing straight from the heart. He has such a fabulous voice!
'Break Away' is so catchy and fun sounding, it'll just hook you and won't let go!
'The Day Before You' is so sweet and I just love it.
I didn't think I was going to like 'Then I Did', but then the refrain grabbed me. So, the record has been preserved: I LOVE EVERY SINGLE RASCAL FLATTS
These guys are Christians. That, combined with their amazing talent, is the reason they're so successful. Not for a long time, and maybe never, will there ever be another band as good as Rascal Flatts.

Free Music Review: Exactly what I've wanted to hear from them
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been a Rascal Flatts fan since their first CD. Their tight harmonies and good choices of songs drew me. Just picked up "Feels Like Today" and I'm loving it. Past Amazon.com reviews have called them country's "boy band," but this album showcases what makes them a force in country music.

This is the CD I've wanted to hear from them since I began listening. I loved their debut album, and "Melt" was good. However, on the latter, I found some of their lyrics a bit trite, and no particular growth in their musicality.

This CD finds their lyric sense maturing to deeper, more powerful songs, and their musicality is showing through FAR more on this CD.

Especially after seeing them live, Jay and Joe Don are both PHENOMENAL guitarists, and you didn't hear that so much on the other CDs. You hear more of those two as musicians on this CD, and it also features piano fairly dominantly on several tracks. I'd wager probably played by Jay - he's an awesome pianist. It's an evolving, wonderful CD.

My particular track recommendation is "Broken Road." The song talks about finding "the one" and seeing how the hurts and pains of the past were pointing the way to "the one." It's got lovely piano in the song, and Gary's vocals are, as always, compelling. Current single "Feels Like Today" is wonderful as well.

Several tracks are written by at least one of the guys, and the final track, "Oklahoma-Texas Line," written by all three. It's good to see them evolving as singers and songwriters.
