Free Music Review: Ratts Best

It wasn't an easy conclusion to say "Ratts best" but I've been listening to them since the late 80z, constantly, and this I feel is probably their most consistent. Its hard to separate their 1st 3 albums. I personally believe it didn't do quite as well as Out of the cellar because of poor singles choices. I feel "Got me on the line" or "You should know by now" are far catchier than "lay it down" or "you're in love" which were the songs they chose and neither of them hits. I feel they made the same mistake throughout the rest of their career, except for maybe "Dance". Out of all the bands from this era, and this loose genre, Ratt are my favourites. They just had a knack for writing great hooks, with snappy, crunchy riffs topped off with Stephens piercing (little joke their) & sleazy, grimmy, dirty vocals. Their songs were poppy but still ballsy and the contrasting lead styles of Demartini & Robbin Crosby were great. If you like any of Ratts other stuff & haven't heard this, get it & get the rest of their stuff while you're at it.

2008 reissue. Ratt broke out of the L.A. Pop Metal scene and into the big time with its 1984 debut, Out Of The Cellar, an album full of Rock guitar riffs, sexual innuendo, and pop gloss production. Invasion Of Your Privacy came almost exactly a year later, and the album attempted to replicate the previously winning formula. MTV helped bolster the band's profile once again, with constant airings of "Lay it Down" and "You're in Love." Other Pop Rock standouts included "Never Use Love," "What You Give Is What You Get," and "Dangerous But Worth the Risk." Invasion Of Your Privacy helped solidify Ratt's standing as one of the top acts to come out of the 1980s L.A. Glam Metal scene.Classic Rock Music CDs
