Free Music Notes for Genius Loves CompanyFree Music Review: Brother Ray Hit: 5 Stars
I have never written a review on any musician or music that I have bought in 50 years. Ray Charles was the first little 45's that I owned and from the first note I was hooked. He gave us so much and took so little. I am going back through my music library and listening all over again and must admit shedding some tears for what we are going to miss. God speed Brother Ray and give heaven an earful. Genius Loves Company needs to be a part of every music lovers library as it is a gift from Ray Charles.
Free Music Review: Genius - Well said! Hit: 5 Stars
This has GOT to be the best CD I've ever purchased! Aside from having a bit of Ray Charles' history, the selections, artists he paired up with and arrangements are outstanding! While he sounded so good on most of the songs, the gut-wrenching sound of his voice faltering slightly on a couple of songs only added to the personality of the whole CD. I found myself on more than one occasion raising my hands and having a "musical religious moment". God bless you, Ray...keep doin your magic!
Free Music Review: One More from the Beyond! Hit: 5 Stars
When I learned he passed away I was exceptionally sad. Ray Charles had scheduled a tour in New England last year but had to cancel it, so I missed a last opportunity to hear him live. But, with this CD he sends yet another message from, in effect, beyond the grave. And, what great music it is! Over the years as he matured, his sytle and voice may have changed, but his work is as special on this album as it was when he first burst on the scene. May God bless the man.
Free Music Review: Pure Genius...Pure Class Hit: 5 Stars
To all those "gangsta's" who think 50 cent is actually an artist, or even worth a 50 cent purchase, here's a little history lesson - Mr. Charles' was, and still is a GIANT among boys when it comes to music. Perhaps when you grow some facial hair you will begin to understand this.
The voice, the sound, the man. Ray Charles will live on, while 50 cent and others will be remembered as mere insects splattered on the windshield of sound.
Free Music Review: Lasting Legacy Hit: 5 Stars
What a gift from the late Ray Charles,as his duets album, made the old fashioned way with the artists actually in his studio,is outstanding.Even the lesser selections like Willie Nelson and Johnny Mathis contained lush orchestrations. The highlights are songs with Bonnie Raitt, Michael McDonald, and B.B. King which brought goosebumps to this listener. My one criticism was not using Patti LaBelle for "Over The Rainbow". A must buy for any collection.
