Free Music Notes for TransformFree Music Review: The transformation of Rebecca St. James... Hit: 5 Stars
transform- 1.)to change the form or appearence of. 2.) to change the condition, character, or function of. That is the definition of the word 'transform'. And with Rebecca St. James' 5th studio release called "Transform", she proves this definition. This is truly the greatest Rebecca St. James album of all time, and in my opinion, the best album of the year. This album does not have a title track, which by the way, is very unique for Rebecca. The whole album is about transformation in our Christian lives. The album opens up with something called "String Intro", which the London Symphony Orchestra did. It is beautiful, and I am so glad Rebecca used this orchestra for some of the songs on the album. The first track is called "For the Love of God". It talks about how we need to go out and show God's love. We need to prove that our love isn't ours, it is Christ's. The arrangement of this song is kind of a strings/rock. The second song is called "Reborn", which is one of my personal faves from the album. It talks about how much joy and hope we have after being born again in Christ. This song is something I have never heard from Rebecca...techno. This song rocks! And I think it will be a smash single off of the album. Of course, we all know about "Don't Worry", which is the third track from the album. This song talks about how we should not worry about our lives, we should give it to God, and trust in Him to take care of it. This is the only real narrative song on the album that tells about 3 very different people Rebecca meets walking on a road of life. The next song is "Merciful", which I think is the most haunting song on the album. And I mean that in a good way. Rebecca sings in the chorus, "We will lay down/We humbly repent/And we cry out for You, God/Have mercy on us." It is a song of TOTAL repentence. That is so powerful. The next song we hear is "One". This song talks about how we all are One in Christ. We believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that is what makes us One. It talks about coming together and prasing God, and spreading Him all over the world together. The minute I heard this song I thought, "Oh NO! This sounds like Britney Spears kind of music. People are gonna look down on this." But you know, I think it is almost necessary to have the musical style of the world to reach this generation. Not the message, but the music. The next song is "Universe", which is one of my favorites. ( I think I need to stop saying each one of these songs is my favorite, because they all are!) This song talks about how nothing in this world can seperate us from God and His love. No matter where we go, He is there. Whether we are awake, asleep, or anything, He is there. Next, we hear "Wait For Me", the song that Rebecca wrote for her future husband. I love this song! Rebecca said that she wrote this song for two reasons. 1.) To her future husband... and 2.) For the women of this generation, pleaing for their husbands (us guys) to wait until they are married, like they are. The chorus says: "I am waiting for/Praying for you, darling/Wait for me too/Wait for me as I wait for you." The bridge is expecially my favorite part which says: "Now I know you may make mistakes/But there's forgiveness and a second chance." That second chance is in Christ. And the way Rebecca sings this whole song is amazing. Next, we hear "In Me", which is a song talking about us having so much power in us that we can move mountains, and walk on water. And we get that strength from Christ transforming our lives. This is a beautifully written song. The words are beautiful. The next song is "Lean On", and I fell out of my seat when I heard this song! It is so different from Rebecca! This isn't really techno, it is like Earthsuit music. I guess it would be, because Earthsuit helped Rebecca write this song. The song talks about leaning on God, not ourselves. Trust Him completely. Next, we hear "All Around Me". This song talks about how no matter what; if our world is tumbling down or we are happier than ever, God is all around us. He is always there! This song will rock you out. Because that is what it is, PURE ROCK! This shows that although Rebecca has 'transformed' her music a bit, she has not fallen completely away from her rock roots. The next song is TRULY, my favorite song on the album. It is called "Stand". Rebecca will release this song to radio, and when she does, it will be her biggest hit EVER! This song is truly mind-boggling! It is a very appropriate song for this time. With the election and all, this is our chance to go out and vote, and vote our convictions. To make a difference. And although I am not eligible to vote yet, if I could, I would do it. This song is really the most powerful song on the album. The chorus says: "This is our time to be strong/This is our time to rise up/To stand and be counted/This is our time to believe/And know with our God we are free/Let the world know to Him we belong." This is a song that really touches me. I am a Junior in high school. It is so sad to go to school to see so-called Christian teens go to school and say, "I am a Christian. Yeah, a big Christian." And then the next minute, they are cussing up a storm, or telling people who they had sex with last night! We are not standing the way we should be. We should be living our lives for Christ. We can't live our lives half Christian and half world. We have got to live a TOTAL Christian life. This song tells us, this is our time and our chance to do that. We have got to spread Jesus the right way. Another lyric from the song says: "There's no time to lose/we can't be silent/In a world that is dying to find out the truth." That is so true! The last track on the album is a total praise and worship song to God. It is called "My Hope". It talks about God being our Hope, Love, and everything in our lives. This song is absolutely beautiful! The chorus says: "You are my Hope/You are my Joy/You are my Savior/And You are my God/You are my Love/You are my Life/And I will praise You forever my God." Conclusions. Well, Rebecca has definately grown since her last album Pray. I listen to "Pray" and then "Transform", and I think there is no comparison! "Pray" was a great album, don't get me wrong. But Rebecca has really grown in her songwriting even more, in her singing, and in her music. Alot of this new music comes from the new prodocers. Tedd T. was not cutting it with RSJ. Now, with new producers, RSJ is better than ever. Alot of people complain about Rebecca's "squeeky" voice. Which I really had no problem with. But you will not get alot of that voice at all on this album. You will hear a totally different RSJ! Rebecca has been transformed. In more ways than one. She said that she has grown even more in Christ this past year. She said this past year she has really seeked transformation in her life. "Each day is a transformation process, and we need to live our lives totally for Christ, and seek transformation." She said that at the end of recording "Transform". I am telling yall folks, go out and buy this album the 24th! It will really have you seeking transformation in your lives. It did me. And Rebecca prays that that is what will happen. And I think she has accomplished that prayer and that goal with this remarkable project.
