Free Music Review: a very beautiful album
Hit: 5 Stars

It seems that i seem to be one of the only reviewers who prefer this album to their older funkier stuff, but i reckon this album had the most effort put into out of all their albums, and the lyrics are much better than their previous albums. I got this album when i went to Australia for holidays and when i caught the plane back to New York, i was feeling a bit nervous and unrelaxed, so i placed this cd in my disc man, and i find it helped me relax and enjoy my plain trip. This is truly a beautiful album. This album is magic, it makes me feel like im lying on the beach on a nice sunny day. This album also contains some very nice blues, and my mum usually hates my cd's, but this cd my mum loves. Its very hard to choose as a favourite track but i personally think "throw away your television" would be, because it has a very nice bassline and the drums are awesome. The red hot chili peppers really do have one of the best bassist. This album also contains very slow romantic songs like dosed, and the zephry song is a very smoothe, nice song, which makes you want to go to the beach. The only song i don't like is "can't stop" which has very bad vocals, and the bass and guitar riffs where a bit too punky funky for me, but any way if there had to be something that bothered me about this album, it would probably be the vocals, this cd has under average vocals, though the bass and wonderful lovely music makes up for that. This album also has very nice string arrangements in "midnight". All in all go get this album if your into bass, like blues, or like nice smoothe rock or get if your a red hot chili pepper, though please note, it is totally different to their other albums, and really, get it if your a metal fan, because i like bands like pantera, system of a down and tool, though this album still pleased me. Im glad my 8th grade friends recomended me this. THANKYOU FOR READING-peace

Free Music Review: Brilliant
Hit: 5 Stars

I must say that I can listen to this entire CD all the way through without skipping a single beat, it is by far my favorite compilation of songs that I own. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are far from dead, their "hardcore" fans just need to realize that every band needs a new direction eventually, and this is the right direction for RHCP.

Songs on the album:

By The Way: 7/10 in my opinion an average song compared to the rest of the album
Universally Speaking: 8/10 dragged out a little too long, but a decent song
This Is The Place: 9/10 i wasnt so fond of this song when i first heard it but it grew on me
Dosed 10/10 loved it the second i heard it, outstanding work by Frusciante and although many people criticize his voice, Kiedis sounds great in this song
Don't Forget Me 9/10 i especially love the guitar solo by Frusciante in the beginning
The Zephyr Song 7/10 very radio friendly, its the only one ive kindof gotten sick of
Cant Stop 9/10 My favorite of the big 3 on this album (by the way, zephyr song, and cant stop)
I Could Die for You 9/10 Kiedis sounds great in this one too
Midnight 9/10 not too fond of the violins in the beginning, but the chorus is outstanding
Throw Away Your Television 7/10 probably my least favorite song on the album
Tear 10/10 GREAT song. i love the beach boys-ish sound of the chorus
On Mercury 11/10 by far my favorite song on the album and maybe my favorite song by anyone, much different than any other song on this album
Minor Thing 8/10 I love the beginning but overall pretty average compared to the other songs
Warm Tape 9/10 didnt like it at first but it grow on you, unique sound
Venice Queen 8/10 i like how it is a 3-part song but i think it is dragged out a bit too long

IF YOU DONT OWN THIS CD YET GO BUY IT THIS VERY INSTANT

Free Music Review: The Brand New Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Hit: 5 Stars

BEWARE! If you are a fan of the old RHCP, you may not like this album. For me, I was a fan since Californication. That was a great album but this is a more mellow, soft attempt to catch new fans. This album only has about 2 or 4 fast funky songs and the rest are pretty mellow and soft or are ballads.

In a way, this is a brand new RHCP. They are still as talented as ever and write good songs. Songs like By The Way and Can't Stop have funk to them and they sound very cool. ANOTHER BEWARE. If you think just the title track is good and you think the whole album is gonna sound like that, WELL you are very wrong. Just don't judge it by it's first track or listen. It gets better everytime you listen to it too.

Songs like This Is The Place and Dosed are AWESOME! The bass is prominent in the beginning and the vocals are awesome as ever. Venice Queen is another one of those AWESOME tracks. In the middle of the song, it has this WICKED acoustic guitar riff in it. I just can't get over it either. I also can't get over on how good the bass is in Dosed.

Can't Stop is another funky song with an AWESOME guitar riff when it gets into the song like 25 seconds of it. I can't get over that either. This album is too good. If you pass this up, and you buy it later in life, you may be very dissapointed or happy.

The vocals are better than their previous albums because they sound smoother and flow very well with the song. The guitar is not as prominent as it was in their past works. Flea's bass is still really awesome but no more of the "slap bass". Chad's drumming makes the songs soothing and relaxing with his soft, rhymithic drumming patterns.

This is a really good CD! You cannot pass this one up! Its so good that its my top CD for the year for me. The best buy for CDs this year goes to this album also. You must buy this album. It gives your collection such a big boost!

Free Music Review: Chili Peppers grow up
Hit: 5 Stars

Like most mainstream followers of Red Hot Chili Peppers, I first became aware of them through their cover of Stevie Wonder's classic song "Higher Ground" off their album, Mother's Milk. Then, when "Give it Away" and "Breaking the Girl" were big, I broke down and bought their breakthrough album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, finding out too late that they were the only songs on the album that I liked.

Well, recently both the Chili Peppers and I have matured and our paths have converged again. I was very interested in the songs off Californication (like "Scar Tissue" and the title track) and stopped changing radio stations when their name was announced as forthcoming. And now with By the Way, they've gained me as a fan again.

This has all the things that I liked about them in the first place: the hard-driving funk--epitomized by Flea's frantic bass playing--combined with the softer, more introspective side. By the way is their most melodic album yet, and that's a good thing. And it's consistent, one song blending into the next with no jarring. Instead of simply throwing together all the songs they've recently recorded into an athematic mishmash, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have created a wonderfully cohesive portrait of where they are in their lives. From the beginning strains of the title track to the ending guitar strums of "Venice Queen," By the Way is a delight.

"By the Way," "The Zephyr Song," "Universally Speaking," and "Throw Away Your Television" speak to me the most but the whole album is great and easy on the ears. Red Hot Chili Peppers have entered the world of adult contemporary, which is a boon because that's what their longtime fans are listening to now.

As Anthony Kiedis sings on "Midnight," "just a minute while I reinvent myself." By the Way is the result of a band not being afraid to change its style or alienate its fans. It certainly brought me back.

Free Music Review: Wow....
Hit: 5 Stars

This is simply an amazing album. The RHCP has been around for a long time, and the only CD I could find that I enjoyed was Californication, with some of the slower more thought out songs. But now this takes the cake. An incredible CD.

By The Way:The great title track. It blends traditional Chilie Peppers and their newer, more slow and thougtful style.

Universaly Speaking: A great song, fast paced chorus, guitar solo at the end, everything. One of the best on the CD.

This is the place: Not my favorite song on the CD, but not bad.

Dosed: A beautiful song.

Don't forget me: One of the best songs on the whole album, with amazing background vocals.

Zephyer song: Some great guitar work here, and along with the great vocals, the CD wouldn't be the same without it.

Can't Stop: Punky, rappy, fast paced-this song is more a look back at what RHCP was before. Not the greatest.

I could die for you: A beautiful love song. Not my favorite, but it's pretty good.

Midnight:Again, Not my favorite, but definitly a good song.

Throw away your television: This is good, but far from the best. Fleas Bass holds this one together.

Cabron: This one's amazing, yet totaly different from any other song on this album (Or any other album I own, for that matter).Listen to it for yourself.

Tear: Wow. Another one of the top five on the CD (Of have I said that about six now? Oh well).

On Mercury: Another interesting song. And another you'll need to hear for yourself.

Minor Thing: Not my favorite on the CD, But good.

Warm Tape: Strange song, but another great one.

Venice Queen: To be honest, I owned the CD for about a month before I realized the pntential of this song. It's easy to skip it because the begining isn't the the most exciting music in the world. But a few minutes into the song, the mood changes completely. Another hit...P>BUY THIS CD!
