Free Music Notes for Californication

Free Music Review: Best RHCP cd I've heard so far!
Hit: 5 Stars

What this album has on it is incredible and I would reccomend it to all Red Hot Chili Peppers Fans and give this fairly new album a shot at listening to because this album has all the other Red Hot Chili Peppers albums mixed in to one funky rock rhythm and does not lack of anything. Add this to your cart right now! You will be pleased, because this is not all that heavy metal thrash punk rap (although I think that's awsome as well). This RHCP album has spectacular smash-hit-songs like "Scar Tissue", "Around The World", "Otherside", and, of course "Californication". It also includes other great songs like "Easily", "Parrellel Universe", and "Get On Top". This album has some funky rock in it but also has some hard rock in it as well. But this album all boils down to the best Red Hot Chili Peppers cd in years and an album filled with such creativity deserves a good part in musical history. They have done quite some work on this great album and deserve a lot of credit for it. If you want more cds from The Red Hot Chili Peppers, I would suggest these other albums by them. "One Hot Minute", "Blood Sugar Sex Magic", and "The Red Hot Chili Peppers First LP." So I would reccomend this album for all Red Hot Chili Peppers fans. This cd will satisfy you in every way a funk rock cd like this one could. Add this album to your cart with rapid speed, before it sells out! Because with a great album like this I have a feeling that it will sell out on all websites quickly! So hurry up and buy this marvelous album and you will not be disappointed! Also check out these other bands. Shash Mouth, Lenny Kravitz, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.

Free Music Review: "Californication"'s My Best Friend
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is my favorite in my collection by a landslide. Songs like "Around the World" revive some of the familiar vibes, while ballads like "Scar Tissue," "Otherside," and "Road Trippin'" have something extra special injected in them that makes you want to listen to them over and over... and over.. and over. ^_^ A suprising addition is "Porcelain," which seems as if the guys are singing you a lullaby (awww...). It's a beautiful little diddy. "Savior"'s an incredible song, with tight drums, strong bass, great vocals, and fantastic guitar.

Anthony Kiedis's unique vocals are even better than before and create the driving, flowing, upbeat frontal sound. John Frusciante's guitar sings in every essence of the word. Flea lends more valuble energy to the music, he handles the bass skillfully, and everytime I hear it's rhythms and melodies it makes me happy happy-- to the point where I want to play bass like Flea (even though I can't play the bass guitar... yet... but that isn't the point). The great thing about the Chili Peppers is their bass isn't hidden behind scores of other instruments-- it's right up front and it deserves it too. Chad Smith's percussion drives the songs. This may sound strange, but personally, I live to hear the duh-duh duh-duh duh rhythm at the beginning of "Savior." It just whips the llama() ... I'm telling you. Teehee.

My recommendation is: purchase this CD. Even if you have to jack it off your friends. (One of them HAS to have it, right?) There will most likely be at least ONE song you'll absolutely love if you aren't a RHCP fan. And if you are a fan, eat the album up. Eat it ALLL up.

Free Music Review: Highly Pleasing and Yet Very Disturbing
Hit: 5 Stars

Disturbing in the sense that everyone loves them now. Before they released this, many people thought they were either weird or highly immature. But sadly, taking this break between albums has left them a little too grown up, yet still producing a great new record. Seeing young kids buying this has me a little worried. There is a good chance they have no idea what the word fornicate means, and if they ever tell their parents what the name of the CD they just bought is, they'll be in for quite a surprise. Not quite as big as the surprise they'll get when they buy Freaky Styley or The Abbey Road EP. True Chili Peppers fans will know what I'm talking about, and I will not continue on this topic any further for fear of angry 14 year olds demanding an explaination. The whole record is full of Under The Bridge type songs, fuzzy Hendrix guitar and depressing, dark lyrics. The general theme of it is that no matter how much the media glorifies Hollywood and California, people will still become lost (as in soulfully lost) there. A very deserty, airy vibe flows through the music nicely. They have lost their funk though, but that is replaced with flowing guitar lines reminescent of later Jane's Addiction and One Hot Minute era Chili Peppers. This is obviously an element of John Frusciante's and with that I will close my review. Suggested tracks: Californication, Scar Tissue, Parallel Universe, Road Trippin', This Velvet Glove, Porcelain, Around The World. Suggested bands: Jane's Addiction, Jimi Hendrix Experience. Suggested albums: Jane's Addiction's Kettle Whistle, Jane's Addiction's Nothing's Shocking, Red Hot Chili Peppers' One Hot Minute. Highly suggested- Best of 1999.

Free Music Review: Continuing To Dominate, While Most Of Rock Is Dying
Hit: 5 Stars

Some questions began about the Chili Peppers' career after the lackluster release of ONE HOT MINUTE with Dave Navarro. With CALIFORNICATION, they have regained their brillance and high status in the scene of rock. There's the usual doses of funk as in "Around The World," "I Like Dirt," and "Get On Top," but it's the slower songs that shine and demonstrate the serious side of this band. "Scar Tissue" has given this album great sales right from its initial release, but its introspective lyrics and melodic guitar work are what give it a greatness similar to "Under The Bridge." "Easily" and the hit "Otherside" have friendly midtempo beats and carry an importance beyond the sometimes meaningless funkier tunes. "Porcelain" is light and quiet, and shows that the Chili Peppers may be seeing life in a more mature view, a time when they may begin to settle down as artists, and as adults. The highlight could be "Californication," a commentary on the sad elements of west-coast life and phoniness. It's another slow, mature ballad that seems to criticize, while also agree with some of the points made on Hole's CELEBRITY SKIN. To end, "Road Trippin'" continues the string of effective ballads throughout that make CALIFORNICATION so honest, and so meaningful at a time when rock music is being forgotten by many teenagers and adults. Although bands like the Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam are ignored by most of the public today, the Red Hot Chili Peppers continue to carry on the legacy of alternative rock that hopefully lasts into the next generation.

Free Music Review: Right alongside BSSM
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm not quite sure just where these couple of reviews are coming from that are lessthan favorable to the fabulous foursome (and YES, I am going to slap myself for using that term). This album is slower, yes. What's wrong with that? "Under the Bridge" was hardly fast and that's their signature tune, and one of the best songs ever written. I guess some of the naysayers were expecting the boys to rehash old stuff, and release BSSM2. Personally, as much as I love BSSM, this album is just as good, maybe even better. The boys have matured alot musically and overall, and have achieved a musical union that is unbelievable. Flea and John almost create one instrument from their combined playing (which is amazing, BTW), and Anthony's voice comes off better than ever before. Personally, I'm glad the guys explored some new ground and put together this album rather than rehash Mother's Milk or BSSM. Too many bands just put out the same album over and over again, and close-minded people eat it up, b/c their band "didn't sell out" (which means they haven't matured as a band or creatively either, just take a look at Def Leppard). Anyway, back to the point. "Scar Tissue", "Easily", "Emit Remmus" are all very cool, and they haven't left behind their hardcore funk roots, b/c we've got tracks such as "Around the World" and "I Like Dirt." Yet, my favorite track is the title track. This song is on parr with "Under the Bridge" and will become an instant RHCP classic. Don't listen to the negative criticism, this is the best album from any artist in years.
