Free Music Notes for CalifornicationFree Music Review: One of the 90's brightest moments Hit: 5 Stars
After the so-so success of "One Hot Minute" the Peppers came back in 1999 to make this wonderful album. John Frusciante was also back as you can hear. The things I love with this album is that fact that so many good songs came out of it and they are very musically diverse. They proved they were capable of scoring hits with many diffrent kinds of songs, it ranges from very slow acoustic songs to midtempo ballads, to fast rockers. They got something for everyone.
"Around the World" is one of the most classic Peppers songs here, it's fast and rough with great riffs kind of like "Give it Away" the diffrent thing with it however, is that when he hook comes it almost changes completely and get's alot slower, almost a semi-ballad. "Parallel Universe" is indeed a bit new-wawe over it, It's also rather fast. "Scar Tissue" is a beautiful mid-tempo song with a great guitar solo. "Otherside" is simular, also midtempo. "Get On Top" is retro, fast, awesome and cocky. "Californication" is almost a ballad and a definite highlight here. "Porcelain" is also very slow and "Road Trippin" a revolutionary acoustic ballad, that the Peppers never would have done a few years earlier. The rest of the songs are all decent album songs that won't make fans dissapointed.
What makes this album great, is the difference between the songs, It proves many diffrent sides of the bands, and it delivers some memorable moments. The Peppers proved they were still at it when this album came in the summer of 1999 and it's defenitely one of their better albums aswell. Must have.
Free Music Review: ALBUM OF THE YEAR Hit: 5 Stars
Its official and its known that the Red hot chili peppers are the best thing that happened to rock ever. They have continuallly experimented and churned out albums of magnificent musical quality. They are the embodiment and soul of funk rock and are invincible. Their recent adventure -Californication is a milestone ion their career even people who hated them in the begining now love their wholesome user friendly music on californication. It is truly a masterpiece. The best songs on this album are californication, This velvet glove and Emit Remmus. Each song stands for something wholesome and very soulful. These songs are the type that i listen to thru the whole night. They make me so happy and they really warp my mind. The feeling i get is just too good to be true and is indescribable. This album is definitely not for fans of pop. Though some people classify this album as pop (I dont know why its pure unadulterated rock.). The album is complete in all elements. And it is highly reccomended. I also reccomend One hot minute as well as blood sugar sex magik. The pppers are great guys. In fact i suggest a little research into the band before delving into thier work. They are the most interesting people on earth. Please try the albu listen to it at a friends place or something and dont be critical let their music and lyrics seep into u. then u will realize theyre worth. Just give it a try U will love it. but make sure u have the lyrics as reference . They are excellent. Hope i have proved helpful please dont be too critical try and see for urself Ciao
Free Music Review: Beautiful...One of the most important and best albums ever. Hit: 5 Stars
This album marks the comeback of guitarist John Frusciante, who left the band in 1992 following a build-up of tension between him and frontman Anthony Kiedis, and a lack of motivation to be 'popular' anymore. Californication is the Chili Peppers finest work, combining elements of funk, punk, rock, jazz, and even pop to form a work of art. It is a must have for any fan of music. Highlights of the album are numerous, as each song has its strengths, the best songs are: 1. Around The World - The Chilis are back...enough said. 2. Parallel Universe - Technically brillant, beautiful solo, and a strong message behind the song. 4. Otherside - Anthony Kiedis pours emotion into the song, with Frusicante and Flea melding their instruments beautifully. 6. Californication - This song is undescribably good. This is RHCP at its finest. 7. Easily - Fun song, with an incredible outro fueled by layered guitars. 11. This Velvet Glove - A homage to Frusciante, beautiful song. 12. Savior - Innovative song, gives the impression of two seperate songs, woven together by the same message, a nice listen. 15. Road Trippin' - This song is beautiful as well, describing the memories of a young Flea, Kiedis, and the deceased Hillel Slovak. This album is so powerful, as the songs are carefully selected and distributed throughout the album. Chad Smith provides a nice medium and backdrop towards the incredible tandem of Frusciante and Flea, today the best guitar-bass duo in Rock. Kiedis is Kiedis, and he needs to be nothing more. Essential.
Free Music Review: The RHCP's finally put it all together. A MUST OWN album. Hit: 5 Stars
I've always liked the Peppers though they frustrated me no end. The problem? They had never put out a complete album. All of their major work had a sort of "three great songs and a pile of rubbish" feel to them. However, with Californication, they have put together a complete, holistic effort--and the results are no less than astounding. The usual "great three tracks" are here with a vengeance. The Pepper's have always had a knack for managing to create popular music with an edge-a welcome skill in this world of manufactured bubble gum music that the one or two companies that own all the radio stations seem bent on subjecting the world to. Scar Tissue and Other Side amply fill that bill. Where this album soars however in the not-quite-top-40 area with tunes such as Around the World, Parallel Universe, Get on Top and Road Trippin', where the band unique, high energy blend of Hispanic rap/hip hop comes into play. This is the work that truly defines the heart and soul of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, a side of the band anyone simply familiar with their hits parade songs would be totally ignorant of. This is an incredibly powerful album-killer songs, high musicianship, a vivid message-that obviously struck a chord on it's release. I never would have imagined any RHCP album could ever attain the success that this one has. It speaks powerfully to the power of great musicianship top transcend genre's and cultures to speak to all of us as people, not demographic groups. No record collection can be complete if Californication isn't among its titles!
