Free Music Review: a dream come true

this is probably the greatest gift the chili peppers have EVER given to their fans! aside from the 2 new tracks on the cd, you probably are very familiar with the rest of what's on it by now. however, the true gem is the dvd that comes with it. i cannot begin to express how incredible this thing is, except to say that as a lifelong fan, it was a dream come true. not only do you get just about every video they made (from MOTHER'S MILK on through BY THE WAY)...but each video has a commentary track featuring the directors of the videos AND the peppers themselves. this feature alone makes this a must-have, but that's not all! there are also "making of" features on 2 of the videos, plus an hour long documentary with tour footage, interviews, and general craziness. none of it is fluff...it's all worthwhile (and in some cases, enlightening).with this release, the chili peppers bring themselves even closer to their fans than ever before, and we are very appreciative of their efforts. as long as the peppers are making music, i have hope for humanity.

first of all, me, being a huge R.H.C.P. fan, I must admit that this is one of the best cd's I've ever heard from the band. Although I have all of the songs of this compilation in their proper albums, it's in a perfect order. Tha cd should have had more Mother's Milk songs, but in the dvd > in the commentary for the "Higher Ground" video, you'll see why not many Mother's Milk songs made the cut to this cd.The cd includes an extended version of "Californication", the rest of the songs, and "Fortune Faded" and "Save The Population"
As for the dvd, I was kind of upset that "Fortune Faded", "Warped", "Love Rollercoaster" and "Knock Me Down" didn't make the cut, but HEY!!!, the dvd has a pretty cool presentation, and the roadwork shows the world how dedicated the Chilis are to their fans and to their music.
Just like the band's "Live @ Slane" dvd, this is also a must have for any R.H.C.P. fan, any music fan, or just anybody.

Who knew when the Red Hot Chili Peppers first started that their style would have influenced so many of today's bands? While some may attribute the birth of the rap/rock fusion to Rage Against the Machine(another GREAT band), the Red Hot Chili Peppers were the originators. And who would have ever thought that the band would get progressively better with each release. It's a true delight listening to the maturity that the band has gone through. Anthony's voice is stronger, Chad's drumming is more confident, Flea's bass is still as crazy as ever, and John Frusciante is on another level with his guitar and harmonies. The DVD, a collection of music videos, is interesting to watch. Although they've gotten older with time, their music still remains as youthful and inspired as ever. I am anxiously awaiting their new music. If you get an opportunity, you MUST see the band in person. It's an amazing experience. If you can't, check out their recent DVD concert release, "Live at Slane Castle".Free Music Review: Greatest Hits?

With every greatest hits CD I buy there is always a few songs I dislike on them, but on this particular CD their isn't... The Red Hots are in a group of a select few. What I mean is, there isn't one song I dislike on this album. Some Reviewers wrote that their were a few songs missing from this CD, and the truth is there are.But with every Greatest Hits CD ever, there hasn't been one that has had every song on it that I would of liked it to. Sure this is a let down, but at least theres not any songs I dislike......I have to say the first time I put the DVD in I nearly passed out. Let me just say it has all the videos on it that you will need to survive. Don't cry to your mommy because the Fortune Faded Video isn't on it, because truly you ain't miss'n much. The DVD is worth the price alone, it is totally awesome...... This Box Set is the Greatest, Greatest Hits ever.It is truly Amazing.
Free Music Review: Quality of the music over comes the flaws

This is definitely a "must buy" for any Peppers fan or casual listener alike. The Peppers novice will get a great selection of songs that will keep them rocking to funky beats for years to come. The fans will get a great compilation of video hits localized on one disk. The special treat on the disks is "Soul to Squeeze." This song has previously been only available the "Coneheads" movie soundtrack. The inclusion of this song and video is worth the price of the disk alone for any true fan. Unfortunately there are flaws. Like everybody has mentioned, the "play all" function does NOT work. That is annoying. The "My Friends" video is not the regular release, but is instead a studio recording production. Also some great songs are missing on both the CD and DVD. Where is "Knock Me Down" and "Warped"? In the end, the power of the music and performances over comes these flaws.
