Free Music Review: These Chillis are Hot
Hit: 5 Stars

So the much hyped and anticipated new Chillis album is here. After months of teasing everyone with how good this double album is gonna be the verdict is in. Anthony and the boys have delivered their ultimate masterpiece.
In fact, i've never heard Anthony, Flea, John and Chad in better form.
Stadium Arcadium features a lot of sounds from their past two albums (By the Way, Californication) and a lot of funk grooves that can be found in their earlier albums (Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Mothers' Milk).

"Dani California" is a fitting opener for the album, followed by the sing-a-long Snow (Hey Oh), the funky "Charlie" and the slow pop of "Stadium Arcadium". "Hump De Bump", "She's Only 18" & "Slow Cheetah" keep up a slow-mid tempo until the thumping "Torture Me", the smooth pop of "Strip My Mind", "Especially in Michigan" and "Cmon Girl" take you back to the Californication days. "Warlocks" is a fine funk song and "Wet Sand" and "Hey" are great examples of the maturity of that Anthony and the boys have grown to become. The latter in particular because it has a bit of a jazz taste to it.

The second disc, entitled "Mars" is probably the heavier of the two. Like "Jupiter" the CD starts off strongly with the pop/rock of "Desecration Smile". John Frusciantes' backup vocals are particulary special in this one. "Tell Me Baby" is another mid tempo song before the much publicised "Hard to Concentrate" which is of course, a song Anthony wrote for his mate and RHCP's bassist Flea right before he got married. The hand clapping Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh's of "21st Century" make this track the standout for mine, a pure stadium tune. "She Looks to Me" & "Readymade" are another 2 very good mid tempo songs before the very Pink Floyd-esque ballad "If". "Animal Bar" "So Much I" & "Storm in a Teacup" are sounds directly from the 'ol days of funk/rock/rap/reggae before we get to the very experimental 'We Believe". "Turn It Again" is definitley the flagship rock song of the opus, and with good cause, it's great. And Frusciante's guitar playing is spine tingling. The last track "Death of a Martian" has Keidis try a little Henry Rollins spoken word to it. Although most of it is jibberish you do realise it's the chillis after all.

In summary this is the best album this year so far, and it's going to take an extroadinary effort to relinquish Stadium Arcadium off that title for mine. I have owned this for dead on 2 weeks and it's still in my CD player, in my car, on my PC and more importantly, in my head. Don't believe the detractors that this is overblown and most are fillers. This album would NOT have been better as a one disc. If that was the case a lot of the gems may not have seen the light of day.

And we would have been poorer for it.

Good on you boys, you delivered.

Free Music Review: possibly the best rock album ever
Hit: 5 Stars

I consider my self a collector of rock music. I have been collecting rock albums for about 30 years now. I own over 500 vinyl records and over 2000 CDs. Through my many years of collecting music there have been certain albums that stick out as the best rock albums I have ever heard. Albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Abbey Road by The Beatles, Nevermind by Nirvana, and London Calling by the Clash. With the purchase of Stadium Arcadium, I can say with one hundred percent certainty that this album will find its way up there with those essential rock records. I haven't heard a rock album this spectacular, this mind-blowing, and this perfect since the early 90's...certainly not since Cobain's death. The other Red Hot Chili Peppers albums were very good, especially Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Mother's Milk, but in no way were they this complete and expansive. This is the best double album ever made by far. Take it from somebody who owns hundreds of double albums including The Wall and All Things Must Pass. Every song on this album is truly breathtaking. Stadium Arcadium is one of those albums that will still be considered amazing thirty years from now.

It's embarassing that rock lovers have had to wait this long for a truly definitive rock album. The rock genre has been on the backburner with the emergence of rap, teenie pop, and skater punk. It has been on a backwards spiral since the 70's when it was probably at its peak. At the start of the 90's it seemed as if rock was going to make a revival but the death of Cobain ended any chance of that happening. Since his death there has been literally nothing worth remembering. Rock bands with nothing substantial to hold on to are seemingly being churned out, mass produced, and selling millions of records without really offering anything. Bands such as Green Day, 3 Doors Down, and Coldplay arent true rock bands at all. A rock band is more than millions of fans and electric guitars. It's passion, energy, and spirit poured into music. Red Hot Chili Peppers, while they may have lost a little edge after Blood Sugar Sex Magik, have definately found they're way back to the top and proven themselves as the definative rock band today. Stadium Arcadium finds them at the top of their game. I highly reccomend this album for anyone who has been waiting for a great rock release and have not been satisfied. I guarantee you that this album will deliver the same feeling you get when you listen to Dark Side of the Moon or Abbey Road. So please...put down that Green Day CD. Take Nickelback out of the stereo. Put this in and hear a true rock album from a true rock band. This is the best rock release in maybe the last 20-30 years. And it's not going anywhere.

Free Music Review: So it isn't as good as Blood Sugar Sex Magik. What is, any way?
Hit: 5 Stars

I consider Blood Sugar Sex Magik to be one of the finest albums of the 90's, and also one of the most unique pieces of art ever assembled. So, thirteen years later, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are back to gather the best of the old, and kick it into the best of the new. Stadium Arcadium is a major step forward for these guys. Flea's bass grooves are as funky as ever. John Frusciante is still a master at the guitar. Chad Smith's drumming is at his finest. But the real star of Stadium Arcadium is none other than frontman Anthony Kiedis. He has evolved and matured so much over the past two decades that it actually makes me cry. Check out tracks like "Storm in a Teacup" and "Turn it Again", perfect examples of his amazing vocal range.

Starting off with "Dani California", the lead single, they hit you with one of their most rocking songs yet. Then, immediately after, they smack you in the face with beautiful and more mellow "Snow ((Hey Oh))", which is the perfect example of how tremendously these guys have grown up. Unlike By the Way, Stadium Arcadium brings back the funk with tracks like "Charlie", "Hump de Bump" and "She's Only 18". Fans will be overjoyed by these numbers. "Wet Sand" has to have one of the best endings on any Red Hot Chili Pepper song, ever. This is all great, but...Stadium Arcadium is a double album, and we are only talking about disc one here! Most double albums tend to be bloated, overlong, pretentious pieces of work, but Stadium Arcadium avoids all the pitfalls and shines. "Desecration Smile", the first song on disc two, Mars, is one of the finest tracks here. It is also surprisingly similar to what could be a John Frusciante solo track. Some of the Peppers' most mature songs await on disc two as well, such as the catchy "She Looks to Me", "Make You Feel Better", and "If". Don't fret, old time Peppers fans! The funk is here again on disc two, and even more prominently than on disc one. "Storm in a Teacup" is a painfully retarded funky song with nonsensical but amusing lyrics. "Animal Bar" and "Turn it Again" also show this. Songs like these are what make me love the Red Hot Chili Peppers: they are serious, fun, and just plain awesome to listen to. The album ends with the brilliant "Death of a Martian", and once this unique song is over, you will be drooling for more. Stadium Arcadium is the reason why I love music so much. I cannot explain why, other than it is just so fun to listen to.

Standout tracks: Snow ((Hey Oh)), Charlie, She's Only 18, Slow Cheetah, Hump de Bump, Desecration Smile, She Looks to Me, Readymade, Make You Feel Better, Animal Bar, Storm in a Teacup, Turn it Again.

One of the finest releases this year.

Hit: 5 Stars

Hey now. What's up.
Now I've been a Chili Peppers fan since this March only. A friend kept on telling me that The Chili Peppers are way better than Green Day (Since my music was with them). So I kept on responding to him that RHCP sucks. So I just bought the album By The Way, just sample them, and oh my goodness, the music they produce was truly one of a kind. After ditching Green Day as my favourite number one artist, I started to listen to Californication. That was truly amazing as well. Then I listened to Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and they were a bit different contrasting to By The Way and Californication. It took me a while before I noticed that it was their best work ever. The bass that Flea plays in that album was top notch. Everyone was amazing in that album.

BUT...

I heard about the album Stadium Arcadium. I said to myself, "What a horrible album name...". I heard Dani California, and it was alright, until it grew on me.
May 9th. The day Stadium Arcadium came out.
I listened to it, and it was horrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Oh my god, I can't believe how bad they were. My friend (as mentioned above) told me that it was great. He told me to listen to the second disc if I didn't like the first. To my surprise, I did not like both discs at all. It took me a very very long time to actually listen to it. I listened to the song "Snow (Hey Oh)" after numerous playings of Dani California. Ant it was starting to grow on me as well. Then I started to listen to songs such as Readymade, and Charlie. Then it expanded from there. It totally blew up on my head. The album is awesome. To this date, I start off listening to Desecration Smile first. That is the most played song in the album for me. I thought that the songs Warlocks, C'mon Girl, Storm In a Teacup was bad. Until I listened to So Much I. I loved it so much, that I practically love every song in the album. This is a great album for all those new RHCP fans. Try picking up Blood Sugar Sex Magik as well, but the transition can be bumpy.

Stadium Arcadium is very soulful, straight from their heart. You can tell in the song Hard To Concentrate. Kiedis talk about one day getting married with someone have having children. The first disc is mostly filled with Californication style groove's, while the second is filled with Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and By The Way.

Bottom Line: I know that many many people have said that this album is bad, because they have listened to the first six songs. Well, that happened to me too. But just try to listen to it, as my friend said. It might be hard, but in the end, it is the best album the Chili Peppers have had to date.

Free Music Review: Amazing
Hit: 5 Stars

Alright so I may be a little different than the average Chili Pepper fan. I love melody. My favorite band is The Beatles and to me nothing tops rock guitar with harmonizing and melody.

While I respected the Chili Peppers in the 80's I never really dug their music. I was to busy listening to Ozzy, Metallica, Guns N Roses and other heavy metal bands. However, once alternative broke I really started to expand my musical tastes. Punk and Alternative were everything to me. But it still had to have melody. Smells Like Teen Spirit, The Misfits, Danzig these were the people I loved along with classic rockers like Tom Petty. When I heard RHCP sing under the bridge I was blown away. I loved that song and it was so dissimiliar from what the band had done in the past. I kind of watched the band grow throughout the 90's loving every ballad they did.

I always said that the Chili Peppers should do an album of slow mid tempo ballads and they finally did with By The Way which I think is their best album ever and the first album I could listen to without skipping a single song. No filler all Killer. I also was very pleased with the John Frusciante solo album Shadows Collide with people. He is one of my favorite guitarists now. He makes sweet melodic sounds come from the guitar he is truly amazing.

It was with hesitation that I approached Stadium Arcadium because I heard it was a return to their "funky roots" with some slower vocal pop stuff thrown in. However, As soon as I popped the CD's in I was awashed in a world of melody and insane Frusciante guitar antics. At times, he sounds like hendrix and Clapton it is truly amazing. He truly helps make this band great. The harmonization and the melodies are so sticky sweet throughout this disc even on the more uptempo funk songs. I love every song. I am slightly more partial to the second disc, however; I have not found a song yet that I did not like. Probably my all time favorite on the album is the 3rd song on side two(the one about marriage). I never look at song titles I just remember them by the position on the CD. Every time, I listen to this double deluxe masterpiece I like it better and better. I cannot think of another double album that I have loved this much except for maybe 2Pac's "All Eyes on Me" and of course The Beatles white album.

I bought the deluxe package which was really cool with all kinds of nifty collectibles thrown in. As a music collector it was worth it to me.

I truly reccomend this CD to anyone who loves good melody, classic rock guitar stylings or anyone with a decent taste in rock music
