Free Music Review: Great album from RHCP
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a funky cool album from Red hot Chili Peppers. "Me & My Friends" and "Behind The Sun" are probably the best songs on the album. Great album.

Free Music Review: Fun to own and listen to.
Hit: 4 Stars

I got into the Peppers in high school almost 10 years ago. I bought this album after Mother's Milk, which subsequently led me to buy the other previous albums as well. Uplift is a great album that I still enjoy. The songs are fun, fast, funky and great to jam in the car. This album is more raw and not as refined as Mother's Milk, and no where near as perfect as Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but a great album that I recommend to fans of the band. While their first two albums are fun to own and listen to as trivia and to be a "true fan", Uplift is a disc you will like. This album shows the potential of what the band will become.

Free Music Review: Possibly the best Red Hot Chili Peppers album
Hit: 5 Stars

The Red Hot Chili Peppers like any band have changed and evolved, this was the last album the Chili Peppers did with Hillel Slovak before he passed away. The sound then was raw and more funky and less produced, as well the songs were more creative. The latest RHCP albums are more heavily produced and commericalized. This album rocks and is a whole lot of fun. This album is vital for any fan of the Chili Peppers. Flea just goes nuts laying down the funky bass lines. Any fans of funk-rock and great bass lines should have this album.

Free Music Review: The Definitive Chili Peppers CD
Hit: 5 Stars

Although the Chili Peppers hit the bigtime with "BloodSugar Sex Magic," they actually peaked on this CD, the lastrecorded with the original, incredible lineup that included guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons. Don't get me wrong--recent Chili Peppers albums are good, but it was this lineup, in this era, that established the band's reputation. Instrumentally, the sound achieved by Flea, Hillel and Jack Irons was tough, funky, tight and outrageous--superior, in my opinion, to the current lineup (which I also like). More importantly, "Uplift Mofo" was Anthony Keidis' masterpiece. Unlike his current vocal style (off-key crooning), back in the "Uplift Mofo" days he was one of the best RAPPERS on the planet. Simlarly, his lyrics on this CD are bizarre poetric, and hilarious--superior in my opinion to his current, introspective style. This CD is loaded with classics--"Fight Like A Brave" "Skinny Sweaty Man," "Me & My Friends"--it goes on and on. The jams are hard, innovative and short, unlike the endless (pointless?) jams that bog down down much of their later work. Tragically, Hillel overdosed during the Uplift Mofo tour, and Irons left the band. The Chili's have been trying to recover the magic ever since. They're still good, but they never quite got it back.

Free Music Review: but 5 stars live!
Hit: 3 Stars

This album has great individual tracks, but can be tiresome to listen to as an album! It's true Flea is showing off on every track, which is great in isolation, but disrupts the flow of the album.

HOWEVER, when you see the Chili's live and they intersperse these high energy, funky-ass tunes into the set....you realise this album is a must have! The energy they all have on stage is attributed to these fast & furious tunes that you can't help but dance to.

If you missed them with the Foo Fighters on this recent tour...I'm sorry for your loss!
