This in my opinion is REM's finest album due to the fact that it is the only one they did with no fillers!!It is laid back, beautiful and heart -wrenching. Everything after 'Document' is [bad] and after that they should have split.

I too wore this one out in the early 80s, though on vinyl. Harborcoat is perfect, but 7 Chinese Brothers is the one I still have on my mp3 player. I have no idea what it means, but it's simply beautiful. I very rarely listen to whole albums anymore, but I do listen to Reckoning straight through.Free Music Review: one of the best rock records of all time....

REM doesn't disappoint in this 1984 album. Stipe's mysterious vocals accompanied by their signature jangly sound (comparible to the byrds) makes for a great record. The definite highlight being So. Central Rain. no rock collection is complete without this album. 5 stars and then some.Free Music Review: REM's Best

I must agree with "Steve from Brooklyn", this is REM's best. Great songs, excellent pacing, this was the album that got me across North Dakota during my annual drives from Minneapolis to Missoula, Montana. If you haven't heard it, don't delay, buy it now!
