Free Music Notes for Jungle BookFree Music Review: awesome! Hit: 5 Stars
The original recordings for making the movie were used to make this CD. This CD is yet another stellar masterpiece of historical preservation, overseen by producer Randy Thornton, whose father worked for Disney (you can see his name in some of the live action movie credits). The music has been digitally repaired and reassembled, deleted portions replaced. Randy is really devoted to making these CD's special and throws in all the extras such as an interview with the fabulous composers "the Sherman Brothers". They composed many many songs for Disney over the years like Mary Poppins, and non-Disney like "Chitty CHitty Bang BAng". The composer of the beautiful underscore was George Bruns who wrote the music for the Pirates of the Caribbean" (with X. Atencio writing the lyrics). The song "Bare Neccesities" was composed by Terry Gilkyson. There are 2 songs from an old Jungle book story album that are not actually in the movie, and have not been released in about 30 years. Randy also added 2 previously unreleased demos of songs that did not make it into the film to give you a feel for the original production process and the filmmakers search to get it right. Remember that if you have seen the movie, you only heard snippets of many of these songs, many were overwhelmed with dialogue. But in this CD, the producer engineered the dialogue out so you can hear the original recording as it was made to be, simply awesome. Nice interior 15 page booklet with lyrics, great art, and liner notes too. There is so much value here I would have paid twice as much.
Free Music Review: An amazing Disney soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
Words cannot describe about this soundtrack, but this reviewer will do his best to explain. The Jungle Book soundtrack is, quite simply, the most amazing Disney soundtrack I've ever heard. As a fan of the movie, I was astounded by the music, which is a mixture of old-fashioned classical and jazz music. To me, music like this is rare. Sure, you may have heard better in a previous Disney soundtrack, but this is beautiful music. There are a few songs that made me love the soundtrack. Of course, anyone will recongize the infamous "The Bare Nesscities (sp?)" that features Phil Harris, along with "Trust In Me" and the vulture song "We Are Friends". These tracks are all unique, but the best one that touches my soul very deeply is "My Own Home", featuring Darleen Carr, an actress that definitely had a talent for singing. That track, to me, is the best one on there, because it is classic Disney and the absoletuely beautiful voice (done by Darleen Carr) is simply haunting, but beautiful. The music is pure brillance in "My Own Home" as well, thus making it as my favorite track on the soundtrack. A lot of people believe that the soundtrack for "The Jungle Book" is most definitely pure Disney magic. I have to agree with them. It is highly recommanded, for Disney fans, to own this soundtrack, for it not only contains the hit songs that made the movie a success, but it also includes a couple of unreleased hits, two demos, and a 12-minute interview with the composers behind this masterpiece.
Free Music Review: One Of the Most Unique Disney Soundtracks Ever Hit: 5 Stars
What has always intrigued me most about this film was not the actual story, but the music. The score always seemed to stray a bit from the classic Disney instrumentals that abounded in films like "Cinderella" and "Sleeping Beauty". It has a very gloomy, rainy feeling, but is never depressingly low or serious. It is a very honest and focused compliment to the film's visuals, resulting in some breathtaking sequences during the movie. The soundtrack begins with "The Jungle Book"'s main title score, a very melodically intense opening to the film. It continues with other scores reflecting a variation on the same tone, presented in chronological order according to the events in the movie. Then the songs start to break in, including the unforgettable "The Bear Necessities" performed by Phil Harris (Baloo) and "I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song)". The CD concludes with an insightful ten minute interview with the Sherman Brothers, shedding some very interesting light on Walt Disney right before his death ("The Jungle Book" was released a year after his death)/ Also included are two remastered songs from the sequel record album "More Jungle Book" and two demo recordings.
Free Music Review: One of life's bare necessities! Hit: 5 Stars
As much as I try to think of one, I can't picture a more fun Disney soundtrack than "Jungle Book". As a matter of fact, it's even hard to think of a happier soundtrack altogether. And the truth is, the music is so much at the heart of this amazingly fun Disney classic, that they are almost one and the same. There's no listening to the songs in here, without jumping up and down like Baloo, Mowgli and Bagheera. It is a highly recommendable album and movie combo, indeed one of those "bare necessities"! :)
Free Music Review: yes it is the soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
A reviewer below complained that this is not the soundtrack of Jungle Book, but it most certainly is... The record he remembers as a child is a storybook album, which is very different than a soundtrack. Since he was dissapointed that this is not an read aloud type version of the movie, he pans the CD and gives it 1 star. This CD is a masterpiece of the original Disney music and score of the the actual movie, taken right from the master recordings. Very enjoyable.
