Free Music Review: Classic Songs, but would have preferred more editting
Hit: 4 Stars

I love the songs of The Jungle Book, and so do my preschool-aged children. These songs are exactly the same songs from the movie, with the same performers, and the lyrics are included inside the CD. A few other songs are thrown in (not nearly as memorable), and a highly entertaining interview of the creators of the music is also interviewed. The one downside to this CD is that some of the songs on the CD start with a lengthy musical introduction -- ranging from 25 seconds to over 1.5 minutes. Sometimes the intros are musically related to the songs/lyrics that follow, and sometimes they are not. It would have been nice if the 'muzak' portions had either been cut, or at least given their own 'number' on the CD, so it would have been easier to skip over them as I drive in my car. Otherwise, I love it. We listen to this CD almost every day.

Free Music Review: budget price please
Hit: 4 Stars

This album is a rerelease of the digitally remastered soundtrack of a few years ago. It was the first release to include the entire music score of the film as well as the songs, and as such is very generous. The restored orchestrations, although not of spectacular fidelity, are really delightful: the extended intros to "Trust in Me" and "The Bare Necessities" enhance the songs beautifully. In its attempts to be definitive the soundtrack also includes an interview with the composers and a couple of demo recordings, but all of it feels superfluous: you're probably not going to want to listen to any of it more than once or twice. Given the age and quality of the recordings and the fact it's a rerelease this should be much cheaper.

Free Music Review: Well done, but missing spoken parts of songs
Hit: 4 Stars

Yep, it's all the tracks form the Jungle Book. The sound quality is good, and the bonus tracks are fun to listen to, but only once or twice. My only real complaint is that the spoken parts of the songs are missing, for example Mowgli talking with Balloo in Bare Necessities. If you have kids who know the movie well (or you are a kid at heart who wants to be able to relive the moments from the movie) it does throw off the experience.
